It should be a whole lot easier to get the treasure paint item than the treasure itself, rather than be grindy and difficult just to get the paint item. Please improve paint item droprate, thanks.
also allow us to sell the paint in CM or something.
Ditch paint and make it a timer or reset system. The whole mechanic makes it seem redundant. Part of the reason I have no interest in getting the rich merchant ring is because one piece requires dungeons (group content) or oluns (group content). It doesn't sound like paint's even at a good rate. Even if I wanted to subject myself to trying to solo some golems for paint, it sounds like I'll be suffering for a while. What is even the point? I'd been excited for the painting specifically because of the olun ring piece.
Was going to edit this in, but decided to just double post:
Just to hammer it home on why this is such a bad system currently, I was planning to eventually 'out-gear' oluns to get the ring piece at a much, much later date. With the new PvE AP caps, this is no longer an option. On the opposite end, a lot of treasure item grind zones can be easily out-geared. If you use the painting because the new AP caps make old grinding spots you out-gear more frustrating, you're still forced to go back because of necessitating paints.
To point out another issue of short-sightedness, the alternative for the rich merchant ring pieces was to just do trading; this isn't an option anymore. They removed the system and there's been no update about it for years! Even if the drop rates were abysmally low, that's still higher than never chasing it.
I wish they had made paint smaller tins that drop at a rate similar to blackstones right now -- if you grind the spot for any period of time, you should be getting some paint. You can make those small tins give like 10 to 20 paint each or something, the point is that it should be a *consistent* way to get paint. You can stil have 'big' rare drops of paint if you want, but for example I was at upper syc for 1h and DSR for 1h today, got 0 paints. If I want to make progress on those ring pieces I can't even spend any time at other spots. When will I get paint? Who knows. How long do I need to plan to farm at each of these spots to be able to enable me to farm for an hour elsewhere? No clue.
Ideally, paint drops would like you grind several hours at a high-end spot for every hour at a treasure spot. Instead, it seems to be the other way around. Paint droprate needs a major rework to be in line with the hopes of the playerbase.
As others have already said, this system feels kinda redundant, since paints is only drop at the designated grind spots with the treasure items (+ paints have bad droprate) and there is no other way to obtain paints. At the moment, Allan Serbin's landscape seems more like an event thing, doesn't it?
Solution 1: Add an daily acquisition of points like Agris. You get points every day, and if you feel time gated, you can go to the treasure spots and grind for more paints there.
Solution 2: Increase the drop rate of paints so that for every hour spend grinding at an treasure spot, you can grind several hours' worth at endgame spots.
Reposting my response at another thread here:

Make these paint purchasable via NPC vendor instead at 50M. That way they become silver sinks and encourage people to move on from the spots if you want to encourage players to grind higher end places. If not buff the drop rate significantly so that they can get them and move on, or else this is another feature where not many will use if you end up having to regrind there to recharge. They might as well grind the same spot.
3hr @ Roud Sulphur, +370% Drop Rate
I go brrrt through mobs (4k kill/hr w/0 Sweat)....
Bad enough I've not gotten a map piece drop out of the last 60+hr's of that... but
I got ONE paint
... WTF is even the point!?
Alot of good ideas in this post. Was very disappointed going for paint in Hystria, got 1 in 3hr's and that might be lucky... Won't bother with it in it's current state.
