Hi ! I'm Nano and you've probably seen me floating around Discord before with my screenshots. I really enjoy making pretty pictures in BDO, so I thought I'd write up some tips and tricks on how I do it!

For clarity, I will be referring to the default binds for keyboard users in the QWERTY layout. Directions are referring to their respective arrow key.
Content warning: there are moving and flashing imagery in the example links! Links are denoted by square brackets like this - [ ].

To get started, press CTRL + U to disable your UI. You can press this again to bring it back.

Changes done in 'Screenshot mode' are not kept, and will be reverted as soon as you retoggle. Toggling back into screenshot mode will also give you a clean slate, so keep this in mind!

You can move as normal without your UI on, such as do skills and move around - as well as rotate your camera as usual.

- To pan the camera, use your arrow keys: ← (pan left) ↑ (pan upwards) → (pan right) ↓ (pan downwards). This will get what you want to see in shot.

[Example]
- To tilt the camera, use Shift + Left (←) or Right (→). You can tilt up to 90 degrees for a longer portrait!
[Example]
- To change the field of view (FoV), use Shift + Up (↑) or Down (↓). This can make for interesting warped effects if done to either extreme!
[Example]
- To change the Depth of Field (DoF), use CTRL + up (↑) or down (↓). You can also CTRL + Left (←) or Right (→) to go the opposite way.
[Example]
You will also need DoF toggled in settings for this to take effect

- To use the built in filters, use CTRL + Shift + Up (↑) or Down (↓). The filters will apply on top of your current lighting and gamma/contrast settings too!
[Example]
- To add vignette, grain, or both, use CTRL + Shift + Right (→). Grain can look really good in a 4K/8K screenshot.
[Example]
- To toggle your character to look away from camera, use CTRL + Shift + Left (←). This will also stop your character from doing idle expression emotes.
[Example]
- To toggle Slo-mo, simply press U when you are full HP in a safe zone. Some skills need to be slo-mo-ed at the right time to actually slow them down!
[Example]
- To lock your camera, press and hold MMB (Middle mouse button) while facing your desired direction. Now you can turn the camera while doing skills to see them at a different angle!
[Example]
You can find the default bind for this here, which has a misleading name to it:

To take a screenshot mask, use CTRL + Shift + Screenshot. It may take a while to 'render', but the result is worth it! Keep in mind this mode ignores game filters.

[Example] (This image is a Mask, so it is very large - it may take time to load.)
In the above example, you will see hair suffers a little in this mode. NPCs, all mounts, and other characters will also be visible so double check prior! Luckily, [a simple crop saves my image.]
- To better illuminate your shot, pop an Atanis firefly! I don't recommend using the morningstar skill that some Fairies will have as they have offputting tones. Atanis fireflies also do not weigh anything and cost very little, so stack up on both durations in your inventory!
[Example]

Using what we have learned, we can make interesting shots such as [this]!
You can also use a recording software to make interesting GIF shots such as [this], [this], or [this]!

Some important tips to keep in mind!

- All of these tricks work on Remastered mode. They may not work on lower graphic settings.
- Slo-mo is only available in safe zones.
- High quality screenshots (4K/8K, all masks) only work when you are full HP, and 'idle'. You cannot be sitting, leaning, moving, or be in combat.

I hope this helps someone! Feel free to comment or message me on Discord (nano#1002) if you need any further help.

Thanks for the support, Wolf! You can in theory perform slow-mo with friends, however in my experience the timing is a huge issue! It is best done over a Discord call or something similar.
I've also found that due to natural server desync/client differences that many players doing slow-motion shots will tend to slide across the screen! It's quite funny!

Don't lose hope though, trial and error is the way!
