They may have inadvertently shot themselves in the foot this time (again).
When purchases include loyalties, people may be less inclined to make those purchases towards the end of the year, knowing that they'll have to use the loyalties immediately or lose them on the 31st. It could drive Pearl/Acoin sales down a bit.

The effect you describe will probably be more than compensated by those who are "just a few" loyalties short and start buying pearls because of that. It's shady and we should vote against it with our wallets (by not spending anything at all), but, clearly, that's the ulterior motive behind making the loyalty shop "seasonal".

I hope that, rather than this simply being a manuever to boost revenues from player FOMO, this is because PA wants to adjust the loyalty shop on occasion, and will add back in the things everyone wants to see in the loyalty shop (Character Slot Coupon, Storage etc.), along with new powerful items, and simply wants people who spent loyalties earlier in the year to not feel as though they missed out on the good rewards. Unfortunetely, it's fairly likely that the loyalty shop will remain unchanged, further alienating the playerbase.
