█ Hello everyone and welcome to post #108
x
█ I am here to discuss the problem of shai in black desert.
x
█ I have been playing shai since her release in 2019. I've made many posts about how she is a failed siege class, and the problems surrounding her in the world of black desert. And now it is time for another call to action.
x
█ Ever since the introduction of shai, she has been misused and exploited. Shai is a powerful party spell caster, granting buffs to allies in range. Black desert players create a shai and gear her up with a DP build to preform a RMT (real money transaction) service of supplying these buffs to their sole primary account or other paying players. With shai buffs, the paying RMT player can see more than 100% increase in profit from grinding when under the shai buffs. This type of activity is called "Pocket Shai".
x
█ RMT has evolved into new stages because of this exploitative angle. Players who already engage in piloting can access to its evolved form; piloting + shai buffs. RMT players can effectively pay two entities now to boost their accounts overnight. The silver per USD in this case vastly outweights the buying power of cash-shop items, so it's never going to stop.
x
█ This kind of behaviour in black desert is problematic is many ways; RMT in this fashion directly subverts money into the wallets of the exploiting parties that would otherwise go to PA. If PA loses out on profits because of this kind of gameplay, PA is less likely to continue developing and supporting black desert as a live service MMO title. This effects everyone here. The RMT is threatening the existence of the game itself.
x
█ The new players who enter black desert for the first time usually stick around when under the mentorship of experienced players. But no matter their support, they quit when learning that RMT like this exists and thrives in the world. I cannot give valid answers to players who ask me, "why does this exist? and why is it not being fixed?".
x
█ With all this said I know that the piloting is something that PA has been battling with. PA is doing what it can against this. But the shai issue is "throwing gasoline into the fire" concerning this problem. The shai issue is something that PA can fix, so please hear us. Please redesign shai.

Wtf people are rmting buffs you can get from a guildy or friend this is just silly. If its happening its on an extremely small scale.
I agree shai needs a rework. But not because of rmt reasons lol
I think your point of view is a little naive. You're trying to fix a 'Player Behavior' problem with a 'Class Balance' solution; your approach will only punish the people who like the class and have nothing to do with this. There are far more serious and common cases of RMT in this game ... I won't mention them specifically because last time I did my post was deleted, but if you've been playing for a while, you already know what I'm talking about. The Shai issue you're mentioning is a nuisance in comparison.
There have been cases in the past where some classes could 'auto-grind' by pressing 1 or 2 buttons and could grind passively in some stick spots or the old Valkyrie train. They didn't rework the entire class because of it, they simply adjusted the mechanics so the skill stops working if you keep it pressed for too long, or they put mobs in the spot that one shot inactive players. The solution is to target the exploiters through active gameplay requirements, not to destroy the identity of a class for everyone else.
I sympathize with Shai players hoping their class will get a rework. However, the core problem here is that PA has imposed a 5% AP cap even on the top grindspots in the game, the "Highest Tier" grindspots. This means that, rather than being able to meaningfully improve your grind speed by increasing your AP, you need to stack percentage buffs, such as those providing by Shais; these buffs are not exclusive to Shai however, and removing/reworking them all would be a major undertaking and might cause problems in other areas of the game.
AP cap should be increased to 70% or 30%. Players need to have their stats and gear actually mean something, rather than require a party to perform at a good pace of efficiency.
This is a non issue, with the 5% cap even if you have a permanent pocket shai following you around the silver gains are most definitely not as impressive as you lead on, they even nerfed Shais special attack % dmg on her E buff so allies get even less out of it now.

All this tells me... is that you never had a pocket shai yourself, kudos.
Anyone posting on here defending the abuse should be investigated for shai RMT, and piloting.
Keep in mind, now that you are aware its going on, you will see it.

Attack speed buffs, like the one Shai has, are much more important after the 5% AP cap was added than before. As an approximate estimate, let's say you are at a spot with a 1200 AP cap and you are meeting that cap. A 10% attack speed buff lets you deal 10% more damage, which is like being at 1320 total AP without AP caps. With 70% AP cap you only need to have 1404 total AP to have the same benefit as the 10% attack speed buff. However, with 5% AP cap you need 2,400 total AP over the cap to get the same 120 AP benefit. At higher ap cap spots this problem becomes considerably worse. The strict AP caps make percentage bonuses matter way more than they used to, major changes should be done with consultation with the playerbase to avoid troublesome consequences.
The 5% AP cap has been a massive win for the RMT lobby providing them with significant profits that are baked into current game design; any solutions that ignore this cap will inevitability fall short.
nah this poster is posting not to fix anything but to push their agenda of getting PA to rework shais

Considering that the buffs are core of Shai playstyle the best way to deal with the issue is to remove Shai buffs and change existing skills to compensate for the lack of PvE damage. That is very brave to come from Shai player, but I support it fully - remove Shai buffs!
idc, they still grind tho
