The old barter routes (prior to April 16, 2026), you could get a fresh done in 1-1.5hr, which does includes Magoria and Hakoven run of the high valued crow coins. The time takes to get barter refreshes done is optimal, it give you free time to do other things in-game or IRL.
With introduction of new T6 and T7 Barter routes, it now takes WAY TOO LONG to complete, even with full +10 blue geared carrack, full cabin of 3.8%+ innocent goblins, Ebenruth's Nol, NO VALUE PACK to reduce parley usage by 10%, it takes 2.5hr to complete while sailing attentively, I can't imagine how much longer it would take for those have yet to almost min-max their barter setup.
With a value pack, now, you'd be looking at somewhere around 9hrs to get all 3 refreshes done (good grief if you have yet to min-max your carrack); it's the reason why I have never bought a value pack as a barter simply because I don't have that extra 2hrs (prior to April 16, 2026 change) of my daily life to make good use of the barter benefits after a day's work.
Simply put, 99.999% of barterers don't have 6-9hrs (or more if you have yet to min-max your carrack) every day of their life to burn on bartering, and making bartering runs take this long to complete will scare away new barterers.
Suggested Changes at a High Level:
1. Cutdown T6 and T7 barter route to 1 per refresh (randomised), 2x T6 barter parley cost and 4x T7 barter parley cost, and 3x silver value of all barter items.
2. Hard fix T6 > T7 routes so that T7 barters are on the way back to Illya port rather than have to sail all the way to Epheria then back. Valencia > Mediah/Edania, Grana/Ody > Calpheon/Olvia, LoML > Balenos
I fully agree here. With 3 routes of T6 and T7 goods you can't get close to finishing all available barters before a reset even with a near perfect setup. This is what i dislike the most, because it almost feels like it was designed around the old barter reset time of 4 hours.
And yeah sure, on paper the money from barter looks really good, but if you boil it down to silver per hour it quickly becomes very underwhelming. And as mentioned the time spent became simply too high for a lot of people to realistically benefit from the possible total amount of daily silver.
Overall i like the idea of having to travel further to places that haven't been relevant for barterers in the past, but they should be limited to 1 or maybe 2 trips per reset. Right now you have a crazy amount of pressure in terms of time and i personally think it makes an otherwise relaxed and enjoyable activity feel pretty bad.
In general i also think it would be best to cut down the available T6/T7 barters and increase the parley cost, silver and barter exp from them. The goal here should be to make it possible for average sailors with a somewhat geared carrack to finish any meaningful barters in a time that matches the reset or at least comes somewhat close to it. Also i agree with fixed routes, so you don't have to transport T6 materials from Grana to Edania for example.
The idea of the update is good but the execution isn't great and in my opinion it needs further adjustments.
it would have been very simple to leave everything alone and just make the t5 barter worth more but that not what they did and made it so it not worth doing all the t6 and t7 now
So how's the silver/hour now?
I also thought that there might be some synergies with the trade routes but after the first refresh it's obvious it's all RNG, so you gotta pick and chose I guess?
I'm skipping this half-assed Barter update, when reading the pre-patch notes I was thinking surely they will allow us to stack level 5 barter items and up. I already have maxed Iliya's Storage and I can barely keep 9-10 of each level 5 items; each barter level has 14 variations, 14 x 4 = 56, 192 - 56 = 136 storage spaces left for non stackable items and now you have level 6 and 7 items to contend with.
And since you can't transport them anymore ( it took up to several hours depending on distance mind you, so it's not like you moved them around instantly ) you are basicaly forced to do them on the fly and the amount of time to go all over the map to complete these new barters for barely 700-800 mil/hour ( back of the napkin maths ) is not worth it to me at all since main reason to barter is Crow Coins and Daylies.
You want silver? PvE grind.
It's pretty obvious by now PA is clueless about life skill profitability.
I think there are 2 easy ways to fix it if they want to keep the same time investment, but give players more choice:
1) Flip the T6 and T7 spawns. All the T6 would be in the closer locations, all the T7 you'd have to travel the distance to get. If people want to cash out the T6 and get back to land, they make half the money, but get their time back.
2) Instead of making the T6 all the way out, make it a T5->T6 then T6->T7 combo. Like Iliya T5->T6, then Lema T6->T7. If you don't want to do the longer distance ones, again you're making half the money, but get your time back. This also gives players more options if they want to store T5s around the world, transport an empty boat and well around.
i would rather they triple the value and limit you to 1 refresh a day. then tie the value pack to one of the 3 routes. I have a maxxed out ship and it still takes 6 hours with insufficient parrley to sustain. also the t5s needed for the t6's are not guaranteed and the t7 ports are randomized instead of being near to the t6 islands.
In case of LOML (Volante) you'd have to approach it like that:
barter at Dallea Pier > transfer goods to your inventory to prevent exceeding weight limit next > barter at Haemo Island > return to your main storage
This issue also applies to other routes.
Things become unfun here, because even when using the workaround with the fastest ship possible you probably won't make it in time for the reset because of other valuable/required barters. We can not solve this problem ourselves and while the Advance offers more space it simply takes too long using it.
In the grand scheme of things it simply does not work from a logical standpoint nor does it feel good. Considering all the QoL updates we've seen recently, i am surprsied how the barter update made it live with all the baggage that came with it. I expected us to be beyond that point.
Some things might be an oversight, but i really hope they will look into this, because right now we have to deal with to much distance/time or/and to little space on ships, leading to pretty meh silver per hour. It's really not what i hoped for at all.
So how's the silver/hour now?
If you got a quick vessel and can finish in 2hrs with 10 mins or so , you make 3b-3.3b on average depending on the margoria rng so is safe to say 1.5b per hour
I would just like new progression (ship/gear) along with the current silver upgrades (which are still insufficient considering silver/h).
It's been almost 7 years since the launch of the carrack and chiro gear.
the only way i could make it for only bartering 5 hours was to only do one set of t6 and t7 so only get the 3 billion and change from the t5
