Greetings Adventurers!

 

On behalf of the Black Desert Team, we’d like to officially welcome you to our new service!

There are a few steps all adventurers will need to complete by February 24th, 2021 in order to continue playing on the Black Desert Service from February 25th, 2021 onward.

 

Below, we have compiled detailed information regarding the data transfer schedule, necessary steps,

and FAQ for any additional question's adventurers may have.

 

 

■ Game Data Transfer Registration Schedule

The Game Data Transfer schedule will take place in two stages. The first is the Pre-Registration period, and the second is the Live Registration period. Adventurers are encouraged to complete registration during the initial Pre-Registration period to receive additional in-game rewards.

We have outlined below some important information that all Adventurers should know about the Game Data Transfer registration. Please take careful note of the steps below, as failure to complete some may prevent the transference of your character data!

 

 

■ Key Information for Game Data Transfer Registration

1. Please note that when the Game Data Transfer period is over, players will no longer be able to transfer game data. All non-transferred data will be deleted and unavailable for restoration after May 31, 2021.

 

2. After February 24, 2021 players can no longer access Black Desert through Kakao Games. Players may only continue playing on the Black Desert NA/EU Service with their original Family Names, if they have successfully completed the Game Data Transfer to the Pearl Abyss service.

 

3. Adventurers accessing Black Desert through Steam also need to complete the Game Data Transfer in order to continue using their Family Names from February 25, 2021 onward. Steam users can refer to the same schedule above for registration dates: they may sign up for Pre-Registration until February 24, 2021 or register during Live Registration until May 31, 2021.

 

4. Pearl Abyss is not responsible for any issues that may arise due to not registering for the Game Data Transfer. Pearl Abyss cannot help players in any way if they fail to register for the transfer before the cut-off date.

 

5. Players who sign up for Game Data Transfer Pre-Registration can still access the game service through Kakao Games and Steam until February 24, 2021. All progress made until February 24, 2021 will be transferred safely to the Pearl Abyss servers.

 

6. The Game Data Transfer will be made on a per account basis. Thus, if a player possesses two Family names in the NA and EU servers respectively, both of which are tied to one account, both Families will be transferred and all character data in each Family will be transferred.

 

7. After completing either Pre-Registration or Live Registration for the Game Data Transfer, you cannot cancel the Game Data Transfer. Please take note of this fact and proceed carefully.

8. If you do not agree to the Pearl Abyss Homepage Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, registering for an account or for the Game Data Transfer will not be possible. Please refer to the Privacy Policy for more detailed information about Personal Information Collection at Pearl Abyss.

 

9. Players can check the status of their Game Data Transfer through the corresponding page on the Pearl Abyss Official Website. You may access this data by logging into your account, or via update notices received through your registered email address.

 

10. If you have additional inquiries regarding registration for the Game Data Transfer, please submit an inquiry at [Customer Support].

 

■ Game Data Transfer Registration FAQ

Q. What does Pre-Registering for the Game Data Transfer provide?

A. Pre-Registering for the Game Data Transfer does not transfer your data in advance. It does, however, ensure that you are all set to go for when the server transfer maintenance is conducted on February 24, 2021. Pre-Registering allows you to begin playing Black Desert Online immediately when the service opens on February 25, 2021.

Additionally, Pearl Abyss is offering a variety of rewards for registering early. You can learn more about these rewards below:

Q. Is my data transferred as soon as I Pre-Register for the Game Data Transfer process?

A. No. No data will be transferred until server transfer maintenance begins on February 24, 2021. You are still able to play Black Desert Online until this date. Then, during maintenance, all data accrued up until February 24th, 2021 will be transferred.

 

Q. I have multiple accounts and characters, can I transfer them all?

A. Yes, if you create a Pearl Abyss account for each of your individual accounts, all of them can be registered during the Game Data Transfer, and all characters created within each account will be transferred.

 

Q. I am using both the NA server and the EU server. Do I need to register for the Game Data Transfer in both servers?

A. If one account has Families in both the NA server and the EU server, all Families and all characters within those Families will still be transferred during the Game Data Transfer.

However, if you have different accounts in the NA server and the EU server, you will need to complete the Game Data Transfer for each account separately.

 

Q. When I create a Pearl Abyss account, does it have to be the same as the Kakao Games account?

A. The account does not need to be identical. Although, for account security purposes, please set a different, unique password for your new Pearl Abyss account.

 

Q. Do Steam account users have to register for the Game Data Transfer?

A. Yes, Steam account users must also complete the Game Data Transfer to continue playing Black Desert with their current character(s).

 

Q. Is there any case where it’s impossible to register for the Game Data Transfer?

A. Yes, it’s impossible to register for the Game Data Transfer in the following cases:

1. If the player does not agree to the Pearl Abyss Homepage Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

2. If the player is not registered on the [Pearl Abyss Black Desert Official Homepage]

3. If the player does not agree to the Game Data Transfer on the Kakao Games Homepage.

4. If the Pearl Abyss Homepage and/or the Kakao Games Homepage cannot be accessed prior to May 30, 2021 due to reasons such as maintenance or a service outage.

5. In case your access is permanently banned by violating the terms of service of Kakao games.

 

Q. Can I check if the Game Data Transfer registration has been completed properly?

A. Yes. You can log into the Pearl Abyss Homepage and proceed to the Game Data Transfer page to check the completion of the transfer. Additionally, registering for the transfer using a Kakao Games account will allow you to monitor the transfer completion progress by following the notifications sent to your email inbox. If you are unable to find these email notifications, please do the following before contacting Customer Support:

- Double check the account email you used when registering for the Game Data Transfer.

- Check to ensure that the notification emails are not arriving in your ‘Spam’ inbox within your email service provider.

 

Q. Can players use their pre-owned Pearls after the service transfer?

A. Yes, all pre-owned Pearls will be safely transferred and ready to use.

 

Q. Can pre-owned Kakao Cash bought through Kakao Games be used after the service transfer?

A. No, you cannot use Kakao Cash (KC) on the Pearl Abyss official homepage. However, if you purchase Pearls using pre-owned Kakao Cash, you can still use those Pearls after the service transfer.

 

Q. Can I get a refund for my remaining Kakao Cash or any Kakao Cash used until now?

A. For inquiries regarding Kakao Cash, please submit an inquiry through Kakao Games Customer Support.

 

Q. If the Game Data Transfer is complete, will my membership be withdrawn from the Kakao Games Homepage?

A. No. Even if the Game Data Transfer is complete, your membership on the Kakao Games homepage will not be withdrawn. This will allow you to continue using all other Kakao Games Services. If you want to cancel your Kakao Games membership, you must do so on the Kakao Games website using a separate Kakao Games membership withdrawal process.

 

PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to withdraw your Kakao Games membership, please refrain from doing so until your data has been successfully transferred to Pearl Abyss servers after February 24, 2021.

Withdrawing your Kakao Games membership before the data transfer could result in a loss of data.

 

Q. What happens if I refunded the package after registering for game data transfer?

A. You will no longer have access to the game since you have refunded the package even though the game data is transferred. In this case, you will need to newly purchase the package to gain access to the game.

 

Q. If I link my Pearl Abyss account for the Game Data Transfer, then withdraw my Pearl Abyss account membership, what happens to the connected Family?

A. The Pearl Abyss account will be completely withdrawn 15 days after the membership withdrawal application. All information and Families/characters connected to the account, and all history applying for the Game Data Transfer, will be deleted.

 

In addition, if you delete your Pearl Abyss account after already completing the Game Data Transfer, you will not be able to register for the Game Data Transfer again, even if you join as a new Pearl Abyss member after withdrawal. This means you will not be able to link your previous Kakao Games or Steam account to a new Pearl Abyss account, and all information, Families, and characters will be permanently deleted. Please be careful when applying for the Game Data Transfer.

 

Q. When I try to make a Pearl Abyss account using the website, I receive a message saying, “my email is already in use”. Why is this happening?

A. It is possible your email is already connected to Pearl Abyss via a Shadow Arena account. Because Pearl Abyss accounts link users to all Pearl Abyss services, this now includes both Black Desert NA/EU service as well as Shadow Arena service. If you have ever made an account on the Shadow Arena Homepage, you may proceed to the Game Data Transfer using that Pearl Abyss account without creating a new one.

 

Q. I registered for the Game Data Transfer through a Steam account, but I did not sign up for a Pearl Abyss account. Is my game data still transferred?

A. Yes. When you register for the Game Data Transfer with a Steam account, you do not initially create a Pearl Abyss account; your Steam account information is enough to transfer your game data. After server transfer maintenance ends on February 24th, you will then be prompted during your first login to create a Pearl Abyss account.

 

If you have separately registered an email address on the Pearl Abyss Homepage or the Shadow Arena Homepage prior to registering for the Game Data Transfer process through Steam, you cannot use that email address as the one associated with your Steam account for the Game Data Transfer process. Please be careful when applying for the Game Data Transfer.

 

Q. Do account restrictions made due to violating Kakao Games Terms and Conditions get lifted after the Game Data Transfer?

A. No. Accounts restricted due to violating Kakao Games Terms and Conditions will continue to be restricted with Pearl Abyss, even after the Game Data Transfer.

However, there are some specific exceptions to this. For example, temporary restrictions will be lifted during this process, such as account restrictions applied from chat & posting violations. However, permanently banned accounts will not be able to register for Game Data Transfer.

 

Q. Can I set my account nickname differently from my Family Name?

A. Yes, your account nickname is a nickname for your Pearl Abyss account. All Pearl Abyss services (Black Desert NA/EU, Shadow Arena, etc.) can be accessed using this Pearl Abyss account. Thus, it is ok to create a unique account nickname.

 

Q. I want to change my Family Name after the Game Data Transfer. Can I make a pre-reservation?

A. No, we do not take reservations for Family Names changes. However, now that “Inappropriate Name” rules have changed with the service transfer, some names may now be available, while others may now be in violation of our rules. Please keep your eyes out for a separate announcement with more info regarding name change details and procedures.

 

Q. If there is a name that has been pre-occupied at Pre-Order in Kakao Games and has not been used, would the pre-occupied status be maintained on the name after the transfer to Pearl Abyss?

A. No, the pre-occupied name at Pre-order in Kakao Games will not be maintained after the transfer to Pearl Abyss. If there are Adventurers who have not used their pre-occupied name yet, please make sure to use the name before the transfer.

 

Q. Will guid information be properly transferred to the new service?

A. Yes, Guild Information will be properly transferred as well. However, please note that Guilds will only be transferred if at least one Guild member signs up during the Game Data Transfer Pre-Registration period before February 24, 2021 09:00 UTC. Please take note of the fact that, if no one in a Guild signs up for the transfer, the Guild will be deleted.

 

If any Guild Leader fails to register during the Pre-Registration period before February 24, 2021, the [Accept Appointment to Guild Master] button will be activated for all Guild members. The moment a Guild member clicks on this button, they will be appointed as the new Guild Leader. In addition, if a Guild member fails to register during the Pre-Registration period before February 24, 2021, their characters will not belong to their previous Guilds when they transfer their data from February 25th onward; and they will require another invitation.

 

Because Guild Information will only be transferred once on February 24, 2021, it is vital that Guild members participate in Pre-Registration. We will continue to provide more information about Guild transferal in the upcoming content transfer FAQ.

 

Q. What happens to Guild Occupation Information after the service transfer maintenance?

A. After service transfer maintenance ends on February 24, 2021, all Guild Occupation Information will be reset, and the week’s node/territory will be changed to the “Liberated” state.

 

Q. Can I get a refund, or a restoration of items purchased before the Game Data Transfer?

A. No. Any restoration or refund of items bought during the Kakao Games service period is only possible through Kakao Games and subject to their established refund policies.

 

Q. What happens to the posts registered on the Kakao Games forum after the Game Data Transfer?

A. All posts registered on the Kakao Games forum will not be saved or archived. Users are free to revisit their posts on the forums until February 24, 2021, after which they will be deleted from the Kakao Games server.

 

Q. When the Pearl Abyss self-service starts, will I need to redownload the client?

A. Once self-service starts, if you already have the Black Desert Client installed on your PC, then you do not have to redownload the client or install a new client to run the game. (However, players may need to download the patch file for data transfer and updates.)
