GM Notes [GM Notes] End of the 2021 Summer Season
Black Desert Sep 8, 2021, 10:00 (UTC)

Greetings, Adventurers.

As previously announced in our "A Letter to Black Desert Adventurers," the Black Desert team has been discussing the possibility of adjusting the Season Servers to lighten the progression hurdles and help newer Adventurers settle into Black Desert. With this purpose in mind, we’ve decided to conclude the Summer Season early during the September 15, 2021 (Wed) maintenance.

But don't worry! This farewell to the Summer Season will be immediately followed up by a new "Season+" server. The new "Season+" server is a bolstered version of the previous season with improved Tuvala gear enhancement chances along with more boosts between the graduation stage and end gear progression. This revamp is also particularly meaningful to the staff in that it embodies our best efforts to reflect the Adventurers’ needs and suggestions voiced out to us.

We sincerely hope that the Season+ servers can deliver the renewed adventures that we hope for you to experience.

So, get ready to jump right in and join the new Season+ servers!

Unconverted Tuvala Gear

Summer Season Tuvala gear that have not been converted with conversion stones will be automatically converted and returned to Adventurers during the September 15th (Wed.) maintenance following the criteria below.
* (Tuvala gear for equipment slots that was already converted will not be sent to you.)

Tuvala Gear Conversion Criteria (In order of Priority)

① Unconverted Tuvala gear with the highest enhancement level per equipment slot (1 per equipment slot except 2 for earrings and rings for a total of 13):

E.g.) If you have a “PEN (V): Tuvala Gloves” and “TRI (III): Tuvala Gloves” in your inventory or storage, then only the “PEN (V): Tuvala Gloves” will be converted.

If there are two or more identical types of Tuvala gear with the same enhancement level, then the second criteria will be followed.

② Branded Tuvala gear (Item Brand Spell Stone):

E.g.) If you have a branded “PEN (V): Tuvala Gloves” and unbranded “PEN (V): Tuvala Gloves," then the branded “PEN (V): Tuvala Gloves” will be converted.

If there are two or more identical types of branded Tuvala gear with the same enhancement level, then the third criteria will be followed.

③ Most recently crafted Tuvala gear:

E.g.) If you own an unbranded PEN (V) Tuvala Longsword (crafted on September 1) and an unbranded PEN (V) Tuvala Amulet (crafted on September 10), then the more recently crafted PEN (V) Tuvala Amulet will be converted.

* Any Tuvala gear that is excluded by the criteria above will not be recoverable.

* Tuvala gear that have been converted this way will be placed in the Inventory of the character that graduated from Summer Season. However, if your Inventory is full, then the gear will be sent to your Heidel Storage.

* Additional Notices

- If you want to use one of the deleted gear instead of the converted gear, please contact us via [Support Center] before the October 13, 2021 (Wed.) maintenance.

- Please provide the name and enhancement level of the converted gear you wish to exchange as well as the name and enhancement level of the gear you want to recover when submitting your ticket.

- Please note that we can only provide recovery services only once per equipment slot for the converted gears.

The goal of the new Season+ server is to alleviate progression hurdles for newer Adventurers but we also plan to gradually expand the various boosts so that even veteran Adventurers feel more comfortable when settling into their new season character.

* In order to provide more details regarding the “Season+,” we’ve updated the content below on September 9, 2021 (Thu) 8:20 (UTC). (Added)

Season+ (Scheduled for September 15th)

1. New Season Pass & Black Spirit Pass

The beginning of the ‘Season+’ server will also bring about a new Season pass and Black Spirit Pass. Completing the new Season Pass and the Black Spirit Pass will grant you Season Seals that you can exchange for three types of Weapon Exchange Coupons. These Weapon Exchange Coupons are not the Tuvala Weapon Exchange Coupons, but rather the Weapon Exchange Coupons for Boss Gear.

2. Fughar’s Timepiece

First made available in the 2021 Summer Season, Fughar’s Timepiece can be obtained again in the new Season+ server. Using Fughar’s Timepiece with a Season Character will convert your Season Character into a normal character. Subsequently, the entirety of the Combat EXP & Skill EXP earned by your Season Character will be automatically copied to a normal character of your choice. It’s important to note that the Season Character you just converted to a normal character will retain its Combat EXP & Skill EXP.

3. Various Improvements

Completing the Serendia main questline will now grant you an additional pet. Additionally, the unnecessarily varied Mediah region's monster loot will also be reorganized. Main quest rewards will be boosted to give more valuable rewards and Valencia region monsters will drop better loot.

4. Improved Tuvala gear Enhancement Chances

Enhancement chances will be adjusted in the Season+ server to make Tuvala Gear easier to enhance.

Season+ (Scheduled for September 29th)

1. PEN (V) Tuvala gear (All 7 types) can now be exchanged for TET (IV) Boss gear.

After the September 29th maintenance, the seven different types of PEN (V) Tuvala gear can now be exchanged for TET (IV) Boss gears that cannot be traded on the market.

To provide a little extra something for all Adventurers, we’ve also made it possible to trade in a TET (IV) Boss gears (available on the market) in exchange for a TET (IV) Boss gears (unavailable on the market). Please keep in mind that this exchange is allowed only once per family. Furthermore, once you’ve enhanced the Boss Gear to PEN (V), you can craft it into the Fallen God’s Armor, which can be listed on the Central Market.

Right now, you might be wondering what the benefit is when you trade in a Boss gear for a one that can’t be traded on the market. Not to worry! These newly exchanged Boss Gear will offer a new way to be enhanced to PEN (V) level with steady effort!

Refer to the image below to see how the new system works.

▲ You can obtain TET (IV) Boss Gear for all seven of the equipment slots (Main Weapon, Sub-weapon, Awakening Weapon, Armor, Shoes, Gloves, and Helmet) via exchange. Afterward, you can try to enhance the obtained Boss Gear to PEN (V) with the new way that will be introduced in Season+. Additionally, all PEN (V) Tuvala Gear that has been previously converted (not limited to Tuvala Gear converted during the 2021 Summer Season) can be exchanged for TET (IV) Boss Gear (cannot be traded on market) in Season+.

2. More Support from Growth Pass

When Adventurers graduate from Season+ server, we’ll be providing a Growth Pass to help Adventurers to live the experience in the world of Black Desert. Growth Pass will consist of various challenges (and matching rewards) that will not only help you learn more about the world but also gauge your progression in the diverse contents of Black Desert. When you’ve finally completed the entire Growth Pass, you’ll be more than ready to dive deeper into your journey in Black Desert. Growth Pass will be made available to any Season+ server graduated character, free of purchase.

We are currently preparing more announcements to give you more information about the upcoming updates. Make sure to keep an eye on our website for more notices regarding Season+ and all the contents & events that we have in store!

Happy adventuring!

Am I unable to __create a new season character before the season ends on the 15th?

Does this mean that those of us who bought the Black Spirit pass but haven't yet finished it are screwed? I think its great that you guys are focused on improving things like these according to player feedback, but it seems completely unnecessary to interrupt
the current season in order to do so... Maybe I am in the minority but now I can't help but feel a bit worried and stressed about all the season stuff I have yet to do, as I personally tend to play MMOs at a slower pace, though I do enjoy completing things
over all... Really can't wrap my head around this decision to end it early!
Sep 8, 2021, 22:55 (UTC) 0
Why can't I purchase the black spirit pass anymore? I thought it's 15th......completing the lvl 61 reward for us doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to get the pass?
Sep 8, 2021, 23:21 (UTC) 0
For the new season+ method of upgrading tet boss to pen. Will it be doable on tet boss obtained from previous season chars? And will boss exchange coupon be usable on gear obtained on season+ server
Sep 8, 2021, 23:30 (UTC) 0
@Grimmpachi I'm also curious about this. I really hate that they gave us a rushed brief de__scription on this thing, and now everyone is panicking and having like a thousand questions. I wanted to gear up an alt to full boss armor using my saved coupons,
now I'm in a bind due to this, and I have no answers to my questions as noone knows anything. Also, I'd use this PEN atenpt on a dandelion that was converted like 3 seasons ago, can I do that? Or I will have to waste a PEN tuvala and __create an identical second
dandelion for my character for this purpose?

OK, what are these random characzers added to my text every time I edit it? PA cant make a damn forum properly? WTF???
Sep 9, 2021, 04:56 (UTC) 0
Look forward to the new PEN Progression. It's something the game has been in dire need of since we stepped out of +15 to Pri - Pen. Very happy to see less gambling & more gaming. Seems like PA has finally gotten all the feedback that went ignored for years
under Kakao Games. I hope that it will aid many people in their journey and __create a more meaningful experience that stops ending with people rouletting, quitting, and saying BDO sucks. BDO is a wonderful game & growing your gear out of hard work & not just
LUCK will be the best addition yet.

Sep 9, 2021, 04:15 (UTC) 0
@SophiaEris Its nothing new, we already had a system that allowed us to gradually progress for a PEN item: grind the money and buy it from more lucky players.
Sep 9, 2021, 04:50 (UTC) 0
@Ponge85 An objectively terrible system. Moving away from that to a system that potentially offers clear goals and milestones aimed at player progression can only make things better.

Pretty much everyone I've ever tried to get into bdo has immediately decried it as a gambling simulator and to this day, it's a characterization that can't be dismissed.
Sep 12, 2021, 17:51 (UTC) 0
Great, but we definitely need a new character slot - for both new and veteran players. I don't want to delete one of my characters.
Sep 9, 2021, 04:46 (UTC) 1
I think a lot of BDO elitist need to pay the ruins of humility a visit in the desert. Pride is obviously poisoning you. I'm glad they making PEN gear more obtainable for people who have a job/have a family or life outside this "game".

With all these multiple seasons there seems to be conflicting strategies for character development. On one side these seasons allow a player to ____create many level 61+ characters. On the other side is this building of a once-per-family set of gear. So
you expecting players to develop a single well geared character and to just delete these season characters after obtaining whatever gear they can generate? If these extra season characters are not "throw away" characters, how can a player gear up so many? And
what is the point of a Growth Pass on character you expect us to delete?

For example, once I __created a corsair for summer season, my previous main only milks cows now to harness energy. Once I used a Fughar's timepiece for another character - a tamer - the corsair was basically worthless - level 61, but with nothing but Oasis gear.
(Her job now is to gather tree sap.) Now once I __create a new character for Season+, what's the point of continuing with that tamer, since it won't have the benefit of a Growth Pass? Furthermore, when I complete Season+ and Growth Pass on a new character, yet
another season will start, requiring more new characters.

So is it better to not play the season at all or to __create a temporary season character that I will later delete after removing any usable gear?
Sep 9, 2021, 18:48 (UTC) 0
Modifying the date all of a sudden is stupid. How can people trust this game?
Sep 10, 2021, 01:02 (UTC) 0
This post has been deleted.
OK, two very important question still stands:
How many of these converted (not sellable on market) boss gears can we make PEN with this new method? Only one, or all of them? For example, if I have 5 converted TET Dandelions, can I PEN all of them with
the new method? Can we do it once per eqiopment slot (so a full gear, once)? Orwe can PEN a single item only?
Are they removing the cyclical seasons we had so far, or they will return regularly, just as until now? Or we will have only this Season+, which is a one time boost for newcomers, and everyone will be able to do one season from now?

Catch up mechanics are good up to a certain point, but there has been plenty of catch up mechanics already! And now Season + oh my...

They complain "this is too hard and this takes time". Why they have to get everything right now?

Everyone will get full V, then elvia spots will get adjusted in a way, that 500-700gs players are all grinding at the same spots. How's that long lasting solution?

Once they get full V, they will start complaining again "bruh I don't wanna collect caphras and there's nothing else to do". You know what's next step, they will quit the game. They might come back once you give them another free pen accessory. My guess is
that will be just an endless loop and won't get you longterm players.

This is an grinding mmo, if one complains that everything is too hard, well it might not be a right choice for those people.

In the end you are just making veteran players pissed of because you are giving everything free to everyone, everything they once worked hard for. Their thousands of hours grind flushed down to the toilet, so to say.

Also stop giving more free accessory boxes, remove rifts to make accessory prices back where they should be. Not giving free accessories means players will be divided to different spots on the game which is good. More room for people to grind and it would be
good for the economics as well.
Sep 10, 2021, 14:28 (UTC) 0
@NoDuelsPolicy You're objectively wrong. The catch up mechanics have led to increased population counts and player retention.

This is what the game needs. Not 4% success rates that destroy meaningful progress or eternal silver grinds that __create burn out.
Sep 12, 2021, 17:56 (UTC) 0
I'm a bit confused. Should we convert our Tuvala gear and graduate? What happens if we've already used fughar's timepiece? Or our Boss Exchange Coupons? If we graduate, can we still play on Season+?
Sep 11, 2021, 04:51 (UTC) 0
So, with the automatic conversion...
If I use timepiece with my Nova, to level up a Hashashin, can I keep the Nova's Tuvala weapons and not change them to Hashashin weapons? I want to keep the nova weapons after season ends.

what is going to happen to crystals in my tuvala gear when it gets converted? And what about crystals in extra tuvala items?
