That might not be a bug, it could be that you died to desert environmental damage and environmental damage can destroy crystals. However, that should be changed, it is disruptive to PvP Valencia and Edania. Environmental damage should be changed to not destroy crystals.

Known issue.... Nouver (and the tornados?) won't cause you to lose crystals if he strikes the killing blow, but if the last hit is from Sandstorm or Heatstroke you still lose crystals....
