This guide is pretty awesome, not sure if it's the most efficient or whateverthefuck some of the replies are going off on but it's a nice visual walkthru on what progression should look like with rough estimates based on silver made per day.

Great job you three!

This guide ignores the fact that the best gear varies from about 15 billion up to hundreds of billions per item. Even if you grind "500 mil by questing", keep in mind the MINIMUM you'll need is about 15 billion to get a PEN. Also most quests are not repeatable, leaving you to grind it out once you're done with the initial rush of gold bars from beginner quests. It will take you years to accumulate enough money to afford a full PEN set. You can always pay of course, and roll PEN attempts with cron stones, but there's a reason a PEN is 3% at 100 failstacks. You aren't supposed to succeed. You're supposed to get monetized into buying/melting outfits in the pearl shop.

This is an incredibly poor guide, and a lot of the recommendations are extremely suboptimal in terms of both catching up, and overall progression.

- Weenie / Looney Elixir
No, you don't use these. Use Savage Draughts; better than both, with AP and other defensive stats on it as well.

- "It is our strong recommendation that you should work on getting “S” knowledge on as many creatures as you can."
No, don't do this. You should not focus hard on getting S ranks, nor on going hard for Ecology Score until you have 3-4 T3/T4 Birds, and Glasses to vastly speed up the time it takes. Until then, any rank is fine.

- Caphrassing TET Boss Weapons to C4
Just... no. You do not Caphras TETs, whether it's Weapons or Armor. It is never the best Silver/AP, nor does it provide a meaningful enough upgrade at this point in the progression to be worth the 8billion silver versus getting a TET Crescent.

- Caphrassing TET Boss Armors to C4
Again, no. You do not do this. Caphrassing TET Boss Armors is worthless money spent on meaningless stat inflation.

- TET Narc Earrings
No. Capotias until Distos.

- Vell **and** a PEN Kutum
No. Nonononononononono. You do not get Vell nor do you get PEN Kutum before you get PEN Kzarka/Dande (or, ideally, TET BS for these slots). You especially do not get PEN Kutum as your first PEN.

- Giath VS Griffon
No. Just.... no.

- Enhancing Blackstar / Getting Blackstar in general / Blackstar vs Kzarka / Dande
No. Blackstar is not hard to enhance, nor is it expensive to enhance. The rates are significantly better than PEN Boss, and the cost per click is significantly lower. You do not know what you're talking about.

- Literally everything else remaining
I could not imagine a worse roadmap of progression. PEN Boss Armors before TET Distos, Caphrassing Main **and** Awaken to C9 before TET Distos, taking Kutum to C10 (???), taking PEN Boss Armors to C9 before **DUO** Fallen God (??????????), I have a very hard time thinking of a worse way to go about gearing up.

Scrap it all and start over, this ain't it.

I will be the bad guy then:

1, You call it catchup guide, but it won't make you catchup. It's a guide to help new players, and it surely help somewhat, but it still going to take considerable amount of effort (time) and obviously others not going to wait for you...

2, Time.

It sure looks big saying that you can get up to 667 with that... just it misses the estimated overral time to do it.

It's not hard to gear up... like kill mobs, get money, buy/encha stuff, repeat. The game is simple....

The hard part comes when the players don't want to waste their time on repetative chore for months/years, as they come for fun, not for a second job.

You guys do mention the cost in some places and time estimates, but an overal time would be better prof on catching up (though it would shows the opposite probably).

Especially that the gearing process was only illustrated untill the easymode ~600gs and well the catchup (or the lack of) only going to come afterwards...

3, Getting PEN kutum as a first PEN, lol...

4, Hard to enchance part on BS is BS

To TET it's easier to enchance a BS than doing PEN on yellow stuff. Sure it's much harder to enchance a BS to PEN, but that ain't a point there.

You can do around 2 TET atempts on avarage from the weekly + the 3 node alone if you not cron. It's expensive, takes time, but if you plan to enchance, then this is the easiest to enchance.

Heck you can do the whole questline and enchance from +0. It's actually give decent xp at lvl 59, 60 aswell.

5, Yes, the guide is long. (Which will cause many players to ignore it)

However the bigger issue is that it's content ain't properly ordered in importance, there is a loot of filler information there and here, with some shallow mentioning.

Like at the start there is a whole page about listing what stats a food give, and about two basically pointless elixirs, which will be only a waste of silver for a new player. If you really think that insignificant bonus the echology gives him is that important, say that he should buy a glass, or better a kama buff for more extra drop rate he ever will see from echology...

A picture with a circle of ellie's location in velia and the icon of the food would help more.

Mentioning things like knowdolage etc sure can be helpfull.... but if he does every litle insignificant thing he will never going to catchup. BDO is all about efficently. You should ignore the little things if you want to purse highend gear, or play casually but then you will never catchup...

Talking about food, instead of pointlessly listing what it gives, say that he should ALWAYS put food on cd. (for health xp), as that's important, and not trivial, due to in other games you only use'em for the buffs.

tl.dr:

It's an ok guide for a new player assuming he is willing to read it. But it's not enough tl.dr like to catch the attention of the avarage player. If someone wish to invest effort into learning how to do things, he will going to read after it. But if he is lazzy ass, he won't read a 40+page pdf.

i appreciate u. saved me 2 hours of reading nothing.

This guide in it self is a catch for new folks and some that have been here for  awhile lots of information flowing on many sides Many will have their eyes opened up and will be able to progress to better gear others will not as they play the game for the game and could care less about gear score unless it is stopping them from enjoying a certain aspect of the game they want to do then they will make adjustments as needed.

Not every player wants or enjoys PVP or progress beyond Tri or Tet gear they simply enjoy the game for the many other aspects of it Sailing, Hunting, Questing, Role Play, Life Skills, PVE Events, etc

No need to be full PEN to enjoy these.

Casual player for years, this guide was exactly what I was looking for.  The gear upgrade path in this game is confusing and this helped.  Thanks for writing this up!

Not sure why you're attracting so many sweaty comments.

Now they need to produce a guide for shopping in the Pearl shop. Having to convert from Pearls, to Acoin, to Dollars, and then any discounts is too confusing!

Last I calculated, the gear I wanted was $20. I must have done the math wrong.....or did I? >_<

more like gear waste up time, you only focus on gearscore instead of actual ap which not only makes you gear up faster but is better for pvp

using narcs lmao, theres a reason why they're called gs boosters

c10 kutum before disto's OMEGALUL

grinding out 180b at 280 ap when u could just skip to 281 via caphras or anything else

honestly following this guide would just slow a new/returning  player down just rush to 281-> 289 kutum with as little dp as u need

Hello!

Just posting to let people know that this is in the process of being extensively updated to account for changes made to the game since this guide was released back in April, so in the past 5 months. In addition to general updates, you'll also find new content that could help you as you get caught up, and more pages to help guide you to gear scores above 667.

I expect to roll out the updates after we get the guaranteed PEN Boss Gear update, barring any unexpected changes. Of which, that hasn't been canceled or reworked on KR, so at this point I'm fairly confident with what changes have been made to this guide won't need to be unmade... and if that does happen, it's all on a separate editing document, so, no biggie. :)

Happy gearing!

~Irkalla
