Hello, I sometimes play games on Linux using Steam Proton. Easy Anti Cheat is now supported in Proton but the developer of the game has to add the support. I would like to see you add this support so I do not have to use dual boot to play  games and just stay on Linux. If you look at the ProtonDB website you can see people want Black Desert to have this support https://www.protondb.com/app/582660
I am not sure what it takes to add this support but I think it would be nice to see more games in Linux and Black Desert would be a nice addition.
Thank you

If the website versions would support linux, then I would 100% swap over to linux. I am a software dev and running linux 24/7 anyway. Would be a nice addition.

im assuming the thing that epic games says about easy anti cheat linux support is true

The only thing pa need to do is click the button "easy anti cheat linux support" and sit back. I'm pretty sure linux community find a way to launch the game.

it's that there is no money in it, for anybody; and it takes money to code

the only thing that would work is something like a gofundme for making bdo work with linux, and then it would take a rather large amount, millions, for them to take notice

All they have to do from what Epic games have already stated is to update easy anti cheat to the latest build, A few games in my steam collection that use easy anti cheat work now. I've played BDO since launch and still do so, but I hate having to dual boot just to play BDO. Because of this i've been logging in less and less every day.

But other devs have come out and said that Epic has two versions of easy anti cheat which is pretty scummy. from an article I was reading earlier today about implamention to another game called Verminitide 2 " t’s far more complex than first suspected — EAC has two versions. Non-EOS and EOS (Epic Online Services). Most games historically use Non-EOS EAC. Epic only added Proton support for the EOS version of EAC. Therefore in order to implement Proton support for Vermintide 2, a huge amount of reworking of the EAC implementation would be required. which may also require all players to authenticate with Epic Online Services as well — perhaps even logging in to the Epic environment (to be confirmed, however). " I think this applies to BDO too.

Doesn't apply to EAC anymore.

Epic worked with Steam to support non-EOS titles as well. Steamworks documentation states the following:

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/steamdeck/proton

  • Easy Anti-Cheat

Proton supports Easy Anti-Cheat without requiring any recompilation, but it does require you to manually enable support for your build. For the Epic Online Services version of EAC, see instructions here. For the Kamu version of EAC, follow these steps in order:
    1. Go into the SDK Configuration settings menu on the EAC partner site and enable Linux as a client platform.
    2. Go into the Client Module Releases menu on the EAC partner site, choose the Unix platform, and activate a module. If you cannot find the Linux module in the status dashboards, please contact EAC support.
    3. Once that's done, download the EAC SDK and find the Linux library (\Client\Assets\Plugins\x86_64\libeasyanticheat.so) for the SDK version integrated with your game, rename it to easyanticheat_x64.so, and add it to your depot next to the Windows library (EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll).
    4. Lastly, on the Steamworks site, publish a new build of your game containing the new depot contents. (You don't have to make any changes to the game executable, just include the new files in the depot contents.)

Sounds like the devs don't need to do anything too difficult and doesn't need to rework anything. They don't need to recode anything or do anything too backbreaking. Getting my Deck on Monday and I hope the devs do something soon.

Ah okay, I was not aware of that, thanks for the update. I'm using Arch as my daily driver for a few months now and I have been enjoying it a lot, I pre-orderd my Deck a little late so i'm on Q3. I hope the sells make the devs reconsider their decions.

I've recently switched back to Linux as my daily driver for a variety of reasons, and I think most people would be shocked to know that BDO is the only game I play that does not run on Linux. In fact, it's one of only 11 games in my 274 game Steam library that don't run on Linux, and the only other popular MMO that I could think to look up that doesn't run on Linux aside from Lost Ark. Even hyper-competitive games like Apex Legends run on Linux via Proton's EAC support.

I've switched to FF14 in the meantime, just to play something else that has a similar level of lifeskilling depth, but all it's making want to do is play BDO again. I'm so desperate I'm thinking about playing New World when it releases it's new expansion patch because again, it also runs on Linux just fine.

We know BDO is on the latest verison of EAC because they literally make blog posts when they update EAC, and the last one says they're on the latest version. I'm so confused as to why Pearl Abyss are so determined to be one of only 2 MMOs in the top 10 that don't run on Linux.

I switched to Linux this year and have been waiting for PA to add support for EAC now that it's easily possible, checking ProtonDB occasionally to see if it's still borked.

Please PA
