Hello im a longterm PVP player focused on playing rbf.
We have a big Problem with players completly ignoring or not understanding the objective in Valencia City RBF of tagging and defending the nodes.
idk how you dont understand such a basic gamemode or why 99% of the playerbase is ignoring it but im tired of loosing rounds because im the only one attacking or defending.
people rather play on some useless spots, some crossroads/stairs or on the roof. doesn't matter what class they are. they are just here for kills.
So remove them and just do it like castle ruins. there is zero use for this gammemode with such a useless pvp community.
RBF is pretty much an abandoned gamemode by PA.
90% of people playing val rbf dont even know the rules of the game. next 9% dont give a fck.
There is extremely simple solution to this problem, replace "kills" above head with " point gained", that's it, problem fixed, kill doesn't give points so those "i'm the best" player will play for point, because they only value show off, and message above head is biggest show off in this game.
The rewards from RBF are not big enough to care for winning. The only thing to care about is kills and your performance.
Until there are relevant rewards for a win compared to a loss, I will continue doing whatever is the most fun in the moment. Winning or losing does not matter at all, the only thing that matters in this gamemode is getting better at your class and having fun. And if theres 5 targets on a roof that i can actually fight compared to some node with a DP shai/stroker/mystake on it, I'm surely going to the roof. No reason not to.
rewards not good enough for me to care always transform into competition to hard for me to care, there is no reward that can overcome egoism. Only way to deal with it is by removing show off posibility - in case of Valencia RBF removing kill count as its not revelent at all.
Those "chad" players never ask and always against personal rewards, because as soon as you introduce personal rewards noone let them be "chads" anymore, they can't leech off into competition.
Go onto Castle Ruins then if you don't like the nodes. Valencia city is great because it gives purpose to the match instead of, OH ME FRAG ME WIN, ME GET FRAG ME LOSE.
Such BG already exists in the game. How was it called? Castle Ruins?
Big fat NO to that idea.
On one hand the "capture the point" rule settings is good for a RBF, espacially with the new points distribution. It allows players that may not be the strongest in combat but can play smart to shine. The joy (or sadness) of winning (or losing) a party when a sneaky weasel manages to solid snake his way through the battelfield and with patience captures a fat 1 or 5 full of juicy points at the last minute, turning the tables when everybody is distracted somewhere else.
On the other hand the Valencia map is horrendous, it was never, ever designed for that purpose, nor to host any kind of group fights. They didn't even remove the annoying decorative assets with hitboxes, which leads to the interrogation about how their maps are actually technically constructed (very badly in my opinion, and we have precedents with korean games)
If Pearl Abyss wasn't so lazy and most of all, had real expertise designing PvP, they would have bluit a new map from scratch, specifically designed for the game mode.
Even the RBF menu is astonishingly bad. I bet most new players don't even know that there are other maps than Valencia if they never scrolled this turd of a menu. It's incredible to see such bad UI design in a paying game suposedly made by professionnals.
