Here are the latest update details for Black Desert Online on April 17, 2024 (Wed). Today’s patch contains 73 updates and is approximately 1.35 GB.


Ancient Anvil

Ancient Anvil

Today's update brings the Ancient Anvil system.
 
Now each time you fail enhancing an item, you'll see "Agris Essence" start to fill up in the "Ancient Anvil" which, when activated, will grant 100% enhancement success rate for said item.
Yes, that's right. To put it in plainer terms, the "Ancient Anvil" is a "guaranteed enhancement" system of sorts.
 
But first, the system in a nutshell:
1) Now when you fail enhancement,
2) Agris Essence will stack for the gear at its enhancement level.
3) Once you've stacked enough essences, you'll be guaranteed enhancement of that gear and its enhancement level.
4) Agris Essence is basically saved per gear and enhancement level,
5) individually for accessories while bound to set groups for weapons/defense gear.
 
For example, let's say you fail to enhance your TET (IV) Deboreka Necklace and fill up the anvil with 1 Agris Essence. Fail enough attempts and with enough Agris Essence you'll attain 100% enhancement success rate for the TET (IV) Deboreka Necklace.
Again, accessories such as the Deboreka store Agris Essence individually (as in the Deboreka Necklace stores essence separately from the Deboreka Ring).
 
And, for example, even if you fail enhancement and your TET (IV) Deboreka drops to TRI (III) Deboreka, if you bring it back to TET (IV), you will see the same amount of Agris Essence previously stored preserved.
 
Unlike accessories, weapons and defense gear (such as Blackstar, Fallen God, etc.) store Agris Essence by set groups. In other words, you will retain the same amount of Agris Essence stored when attempting to switch enhancing from Blackstar Longsword to Blackstar Greatsword, as long as the weapons are at the identical enhancement level. For more details on required Agris Essence and weapon/armor groups, please refer to the information below.
 
For the sake of attaining that piece of gear you've always wanted, and branded with your Family name to boot...
 
We developed the Ancient Anvil system instead of adjusting the difficulty of the enhancement system for the sake of Adventurers who've attempted time and time again, only to fail innumerable amount of times in their quest to become stronger in the game. We hope this will help alleviate some of the disappointment and pains of growing stronger.
 
Also, along with the addition of the Ancient Anvil, we're looking to implement changes for gear/accessories with unique enhancement systems, such as the Manos series. While such gear/accessories such as Loggia/Geranoa/Manos series were designed to not require accumulating enhancement chance (stacks), at the same time, you couldn't use Cron Stones for these attempts.
 
After the Ancient Anvil system update, we plan on making Cron Stones usable for these other gear/accessory enhancement attempts, thereby also alleviating some of the difficulties for either first setting foot in and/or improving your Life Skills. (Check out the Black Desert Global Lab for further details coming soon.)
 
Such a system may be welcome news to some, but may be of concern to other Adventurers.
 
However, we felt that for the sake of all our Adventurers to enjoy the game for a longer period of time, this was a necessary system to implement. We hope it becomes a meaningful addition to your adventures in the world of Black Desert.

Added the Ancient Anvil system.

  • The Ancient Anvil system is applicable to all enhanceable gear with less than 100% success rate.
    • The Ancient Anvil is activated once enough Agris Essence has been stored. Each failed enhancement attempt will grant 1 Agris Essence regardless of type of gear and enhancement level.
    • If you successfully enhance a piece of gear without having stored enough Agris Essence, any stored essences will be consumed upon success.
    • The max amount of storable Agris Essence varies per type of gear and enhancement level. Certain items share stored Agris Essences. Except for reformed versions, accessories do not share stored Agris Essences.
    • For example, while the Deboreka Necklace and the Moonlit Deboreka Necklace will share stored Agris Essences, the Deboreka Necklace and the Deboreka Belt will store Agris Essences separately.
    • Agris Essences apply for enhancing normally, with Cron Stones, or with a hammer item.
    • Once enough Agris Essences have been stored and the Ancient Anvil has been activated, you will use the same old enhancement materials to enhance your piece of gear with guaranteed success.
    • Enhancing with the Ancient Anvil activated (100% success rate) will NOT consume your current enhancement chance.
    • All enhancement attempts made after Jan 1, 2024, will factor into the stored Agris Essence amount for your enhanceable gear/accessories.
    • Please refer to the tables below for max amount of storable Agris Essence and items that share stored Agris Essences.
* You can enhance via Group Enhancement gear/accessories that have fully stored Agris Essences.

With the addition of instrument playing for all classes, new instruments, and the simplification of obtaining Florchestra instruments, today's update improves the convenience and usability of composing. We hope that our musician adventurers who enjoy composing can use the tools more conveniently. Many of you are waiting for the expansion of the maximum note count for sheet music and the function to bring in instruments from other sheets. We are currently working to provide these to our adventurers and we will inform you of the update as soon as they are ready.

Improved Music Composing Usability and QoL

  • Improved QoL for composing in the Music Album.
    • Improved so that you can enter Ctrl + A to select all notes of a sheet.
 
    • Improved so that you can click each bar to select all notes in a bar.
 
    • Improved Save/Temprorary Save performance and speed for sheets with many notes.
 
 
  • Improved the usability of the music performance process.
    • Improved the placement of instrument icons in the music performance window to be more evenly spaced.

Performance Rankings

  • Added performance rankings to reflect the upcoming removal of note restrictions based on performance grades.
    • If an adventurer is in the higher ranks, an icon will be displayed above the character's head.
    • Performance grade and EXP are displayed up to the second decimal place.
    • Improved to acquire performance EXP per bar during performances.
      • Changed the following quests to be unavailable following the changes to how Musicianship EXP is obtained.            
      • Suggested Quests - "[Life] [Leap] Master Performer" category quests            
      • Recurring Quests - "[Music Specialist] For the Wandering Musician" category quests            
 
  • Changed the basic number of notes for the Music Album to 2,400 to reflect the upcoming removal of note restrictions based on performance grades.
  • Fixed the issue where you could play a different sheet instead of the ensenble sheet during ensembles.
 

 
The Life Skill level Family integration update will be added with the Apr 24 maintenance.
 
With this, all Life Skill Leap quests will become Family based and any Leap quests you are progressing will be canceled.
 
However, those you've already completed will not be reset.

  • Added [Repeat] Season Special Gift, which allows you to exchange the Season Special Exchange Coupons you own for gifts without any limit on the number of times.
    • [Repeat] Season Special Gift has been added to the bottom of the Season Special Gift list of Crow Merchant Guild Chief Manager Fughar.
    • Through this exchange, you can exchange one Season Special Gift Exchange Coupon for an Advice of Valks (+100) Box.
* Season Special Gift Exchange Coupons can be obtained as a reward for reaching level 10 with a season character from the Season Pass.

Black Spirit Quest Check to accept quests related to the Black Spirit (/).
Main Quest Main quests are not separately exposed in the Quests (O) window and are always displayed.
General Quest Check to accept general quests.
Adventure Quest Check to accept quests related to adventures such as exploration, trade, collection, and knowledge acquisition.
Life Quest Check to accept quests related to life skills such as gathering, farming, processing, and fishing.
Content Quest Check to accept quests related to content such as Atoraxxion, Red Battlefield, and instrument playing.
Event Quest Check to accept quests related to events.
Recurring Quest Check to accept recurring quests.
* With the revamp, all Quest Types for all characters over level 20 in the Family have been activated after the Apr 17 (Wed) maintenance.
 
 
 
  • Changed the quest [Gathering] Cheetah Dragon Blood to [Gathering] Wolf Blood to allow better quest progression.
    • You can obtain Wolf Blood by gathering with a fluid collector after defeating the target monster.
  • Fixed the target location of the [Daily] Old Moon Guild's Young Sea Monster Hunter quest to guide you to the Young Sea Monster Habitat south of Oquilla's Eye.
  • Fixed the issue where you could not progress the "[Atoraxxion] Yolu's Sun" quest.
 
 
NPC, Background, Sound
  • Tulips are in full bloom all over the Black Desert world.

UI
  • Improved the convenience of using the Krogdalo's Sanctuary function even when the Mount UI is placed at the bottom of the screen.
    • Fixed the issue where if the Mythical Horse List Window is displayed outside the screen when right-clicking the Mount icon while owning Krogdalo's Sanctuary, the UI will now be shown above the Mount Icon.
  • Simplified the opening animation of NPC dialogue, quest, and exchange windows.
 
 
System
Penalties for Forced PvP, such as enhancement level decrese and crystal destruction, were rather weak. Even then, some could circumvent these by using different gear settings to continuously harass other adventurers. Therefore, we've decided to make the penalties a little stronger.
 
Karma is currently quickly and easily recoverable. Characters now have stronger gear, so are able to defeat more monsters in a shorter time frame, but Karma recovery rate wasn't changed to match this increase in power. So, we are going to decrease the rate of recovery to make Karma recovery consume more time.
 
On top of this, there were adventurers who continued to impose Forced PvP on others when they were already at the lowest possible Karma. To prevent repeated Forced PvP, we are also going to expand the bottom limit of Karma.
  • Changed the lowest limit of Karma and Naval Fame from -1,000,000 to -10,000,000. (Modified)
  • Decreased the amount of Karma obtained from defeating monsters to 1/5 of the previous rate.
    • If you previously obtained less than 4 Karma, you can obtain a minimum of 1 Karma.

  • Fixed the appearance of certain thatched houses in the Land of the Morning Light to look more natural. 
  • Fixed the issue where the Breeding Complete button in the Stable remained even after receiving a foal. 
  • Fixed the description of special gathering items related to water scooping under the Life tab in My Information (P) from Fairy Powder to Deep Blue Hoof Root. 
  • Fixed the issue where the ingredients used in Alchemy disappeared when Alchemy failed but byproducts were obtained. 
  • Fixed the issue where the Shai's Sharing is Caring skill was not working properly in the Guild League, Arena of Solare, Black Shrine, Elvia Realm, and Marni's Realm. 
  • Fixed the issue where some Marni's instrument icons were not visible when composing with Marni's instruments. 
  • Fixed the description of a specific item in the Progression Pass to match the actual item, changing it from Green Crystal to Rough Green Crystal. 
  • Fixed the issue where the content of the Lightstone Extraction UI was displayed in Korean with the Gamepad UI. 
  • Fixed the issue where the Quest Type was deactivated in certain situations when entering the Magnus, preventing the acceptance of the Magnus Main quests. 
  • Fixed the issue where the item at the top of the exchange list was immediately exchanged when accepting some NPC's quests that allow item exchange while repeatedly pressing the R key. 
  • [Female Classes] Fixed the issue where the phrase "Wearing this armor will hide your underwear and swimwear." was included in the description of the Primavera Armor. 
  • Fixed the issue where you could not move to the exchange list when viewing the "Season" category in the Manage Currency UI with the Gamepad UI. 
  • Fixed the issue where the Crafting Guide button was not visible in the Ship Upgrade UI with the Gamepad UI.  
  • [Maegu] Fixed the issue where some hairstyles appeared unnatural when wearing the Primavera Helmet. 
  • Changed horse skill acquisition rate upon growth due to the addition of Sprint as an intrinsic skill for all horses. 
  • Fixed the issue where the description of the Beginner Guitar in Music Album -> My Instruments was incorrect.
