i see you lost hope too so instead of fixing the problem, we look for workarounds.
(when it happens in margoria, i relog again and ship is right on top of me most of the times. i always try that because a lot of times, i swam to the boat but could not mount it... relog... and ship was back so need to swap to first location)
Good idea, fixing desync isn't an easy solution to implement and I believe they tried already but failed. Networking especially in MMOs is very, very hard to do right especially with so much going on in BDO. Games like Final fantasy are instanced within closed spaces, but BDO is a true open world game which makes it a big challenge.
Since we may not see a desync fix anytime soon, these little changes like increasing ship distance calling is ideal. This can just be a variable to change versus reworking an entire game engine :P
The problem gets aggravated though, when you can't summon the boat because it colides with an invisible landmass. I don't really know why they introduced that limitation as it only cause frustation on top of the already existing frustation of having your boat stuck in a pixel.
I would very much like they fix the sea content properly instead of adding bandaids everywhere. After all, with so much water, those would peel off fast anyway.
