AI generators need to be trained. To train the AI they use existing images like digital artwork or photographs. These images are mostly used without the permission of the orignal artist.

So every AI generated image is based on thousands of stolen images!

To be fair every artist use other artist's work as reference without permission so that's literately the same. Not like you would need to get permission to do it in the first place.

Whilst I agree that such concerns are valid to be discussed: I say you will not hold the time, it is as if one wanted to stop the invention of book printing back in the day since it was stealing the written texts of someone else. Humanity advances, it is doomed and blessed to do so for as long as it lives, life itself is advancement. AI is changing our lives, this is happening right now. The question is not any more IF but at best partially HOW this is ongoing.

On topic: These pictures and armors mostly are boring and uninspired. Mass is not equal to quality. Actual artists could do better for the most part. But PA artists seem to be busy with idk what, the integration speed of new, better armor designs is indeed extremely sluggish. So it is good to bring up this topic, too.

But I have kinda lost hope for this dev team. I think after they pulled off a remarkable product they slowly but certainly went astray. I am just waiting for a new MMORPG to move over to (and I usually consider myself rather a loyal player to the game I´m playing).

They are not being fair though, since that is not how diffusion models work. And this specific model was trained on specific data which was mentioned in the OP, but f reading.

There are 500 images, some are good, and some are bad. That's to be expected with 500 images with 0 prompt input apart from 'female' and all of the concept art from a certain MMORPG that we all play. If effort was put in, you could generate 500 images that will be just a delight to your own taste - as there isn't something like the universal taste.

I just trained the Ai on said game's images and let it rip as soon as it started producing humans and not Kronenbergian monsters with 6 legs and 3 hands. You could tweak it to infinity to produce w.e you'd want it to produce. If the images are bland/uninspiring/more-or-less the same shit, it's because the seed from which they were deriving was bland/uninspiring/more-or-less the same shit.

Case in point, here's some AI images that were trained on dead artists but had a lot of effort put into the prompting and realization of the final result:

What you mean is, other artists use the work of other as inspiration or maybe as learning material. If they would use the actual images and create a "collage" without the permission, yes it woul be the same! And yes, in this case you would need the permission to use the images!

On the other hand, most prolific artists have ripped off hands, feet, entire compositions, and much more from living and dead artists, insta traps, and what not. Those that haven't, are not prolific artists. There are MANY plagiarism algorithms you can utilize on the web to run an image search on your favorite artist and see who they ripped off without permission or any kind of mention of the source material. There is no original idea, everything is a regurgitation of something that was copied initially from nature. Every single famous (dead) artist used camera obscura and other mechanical lensing tools and claimed they were able to draw angels straight from their imagination {from Frazetta to fkin Vermeer}.

If you are an (aspiring) artist with this opinion, you are not helping yourself. If you want to appreciate art(ists), well commission me or let me hook you up with any MTG artist you want for a hefty 1k commission instead of virtue signaling on forums.
