in my case its the game not my pc, i dont think its a coincidence that i first run into this crash/error 2 times after years of playing BDO and never running into it until i set foot in the new palace area and it only happens there not in any other area of the world.
-ps. BDO isnt really demanding since i run it on low at 150fps and it uses mayber 20% of my gpu and 30% of my cpu and temps rarely go over 60C, now Remnant 2 that just came out and cyberpunk 2077 now those 2 are demanding, severely unoptimized like BDO is but demanding nonethelss xD
As said elsewhere the game is really demanding and will stress your components.
Additional steps might be:
- Ensure your cooling is all fine, CPU cooler is mounted properly and get rid of that huge pile of dust on your fans regularly.
- Get rid of or re-evaluate any overclocking settings!
And yea, what applied a decade ago still holds today: DO NOT INSTALL SERVICES AND AUTORUN PROGRAMS CARELESSLY!
Basically the more you add to your WIndows installation, the more prone it becomes to compatibility issues due to settings that individual programs foolishly applied! Keep a sleek, thin Windows installation for gaming is the best advice you can have! Do not be the first to test new stuff or betatest Windows releases for MS or other manufacturers!!! They want to make you believe their new features are SO great but do you really need them together with their latest duct-tape release?
Yea it´s the way Windows works and it´s been like that since the 90s unfortunately and wouldnt need to give that adivse on Linux.
Basically it´s still "never touch a running system" and "keep things as slim as possible for your needs". Don´t shy away from killing a bloated Windows install and setup a fresh one.
___
I have BDO installed on three PCs and do not experience crashes at all (Self built Ryzen 7800x3d, Ryzen 5800x3d and an Intel-based Acer Triton II SE Laptop with RTX 3070). Currently all systems are running Nvidia cards. When I had a Radeon 6900 XT it was fine too but I remember some of its driver versions were problematic with BDO.
I am using ReviOS 23.04 Windows 10 Pro (but any non- bloated Windows installation will do), removed Win 11 from the Laptop cause it was a source of failure!
I usually install drivers on the advanced/minimum settings option. So no "Geforce Experience" for me and no likes of "Asus Armor Crate" (shudder, worst bloatware on the planet, installs 6 services that keep messing with your system in the background right on, gg).
Also using Nvidia Driver 528.24 because that one works without issues. I am always checking Nvidia forums before I decide on a new driver version. If your system works fine, don´t do random updates unless valid security concerns!
All my PCs are also used for productivity (Image/video/audio editing, rendering, LibreOffice, specific software for my job). So you can do what you want and still have a great and fast gaming experience. Again for editing software I try to refrain from the huge, bloated ones. I. e. "Shotcut" is enough for me at current.
You as a consumer matter, what you accept and use software-wise will shape companies future decisions and no one except you yourself have experience in what´s best for you.
Well maybe in your case it is the game´s fault what you assume. I just see people are blaming the game devs really easily here. My hardware combos are working fine with it.
Have you ever setup a fresh windows install in all those years?
Couldn´t it have been that your system got cluttered with stuff, your cooling degraded or some hardware went faulty cause of age, capacitors slowly dying etc? Such things are normal to occur over time.
In such cases one would ofc be better off with actively looking for an issue on their end rather then assuming it´s the devs fault. Don´t get me wrong: I am sure there is a decent amount of bugs within the game, it´s normal to a certain degree. But it´s way less likely then a faulty software environment on the user´s end and maybe about equally likely than a hardware failure on the users end I´d say.
The game is demanding on the CPU because it is not particularly well optimized. High FPS are not an indicator that the software doesnt stress your system in particular. I can be running 300 FPS and boy, everything is on fire when I do (thus, limited to 240).

Can you go write your essays somewhere else, you didn't even read properly, some of us already tried things like OCCT, Prime 95 and I don't have any kind of problem, already tried playing on another windows from another hard drive and guess what, still the same error.......................
Well, you didnt even provide your specs/dxdiag but fine, get no help, cry more, I'm out, keep OCCTing all night long...

And keep being a troll.
Anyway last node war :
This is still an Issue. This is with fresh drivers and game install. Tons of my guild mates get the same error, its happening with NVIDIA Graphics card drivers conflicting with the game. This only happens with this game. I have 32 gigs of Ram, the processor doesnt even hit 40%
This is a problem with the game, clear cut. We all have not experienced so many crashes until after land of the morning light came out.
Still getting my daily crashes without support from Pearl Abyss or any recognition here on the forums from official sources.
Today siege :
I'm getting crashes after this patch that don't even show an event viewer log. The game simply shuts down whilst changing characters or during loading screen.
This is absolutely absurd at this point that Pearl Abyss is creating a "Enhance with Friends" that no one asked for but cant even acknowledge the unstable state of the game causing crashes, or respond to their player base on the forums.
Its disgusting.
Two more crashes in a row for the most inept devs in the industry.
But keep ingnoring your playerbase.
