Like ALL of this. Farming just needs something more than pruning and weeding. Anything that's more of an incentive to continue beyond Master 1. :p
I'm bumping this cause it's a lifeskill event right now and maybe more people will see this to upvote it.
Seriously, at master or guru levels of farming, all the tedious chores that had to be done while "developing" farming skills, like harvesting or pruning or planting crops individually, should be upgraded to being able to do a "plant all" or "prune all" or "harvest all" from each fence of crops. There should be the ability to make a better fertilizer that last longer or works to grow crops faster. ArchaicTriad's comment has a thread linked with some good ideas as well!

Bumping this topic again cause for the people that enjoy farming need some improvements! Thanks for the outfit, btw - that has helped efficiency. However, farming gurus should be rewarded with better efficiency- we've (i'm almost there) earned it! ArchaicTriad linked their post about farming in this thread and they've got great ideas also (way more than the one's I presented)!
They could add new things to "farm" as an alternative way to get gatherable items.
Imagine if your farming level let you plant a couple Cedar Trees in a plot instead of crops and instead of pruning/debugging you could chop timber or suck sap from them instead. (The better the conditions the more often you could interact with them).
Doesn't have to be balanced to replace gathering or anything but could be nice to have a little customizable supply in a convienient location rather then having to drag a character out to specific locations around the world.
