This is a shallow response. Why should I have to leave because somebody else decides to grind over me? Do I have no agency over my gameplay? Why should I be fully at the mercy of other people? To another point, why can't we grind together? Why is THAT a limitation?
What gameplay benefit does this aspect support? Is it just to let the indignant and entitled players have their way? It is entirely possible that whenever he DOES swap servers, the same will happen. What then? What about spots that marni isn't available? What about when you don't have marni available? What about group spots? Why am I the one punished when I kill someone doing this? They actively have nothing to lose, They are the one griefing very clearly, so why am I the one being punished? The system is deeply flawed, and the changes as of late have only exacerbated the issue.

Well, how is this a shallow response when literally CMs of this game gave exactly the same answer when asked how to deal with griefers?

People were so happy go lucky and jumped on the happy wagon regarding the one sided guild wars change as if that would hurt only pvp folks. It will bite all of us. Not only pvp people but pve as well.

Let them get bitten. I was wondering how long it will take for somebody to complain about griefers. At least when you are getting farmed, it feels bad but you also know that person is stronger than you. A griefer camping your spot, you have no action other than leaving with all your buffs and scrolls.

I've been playing for less than 2 weeks and already multiple times on Olvia channels I've had some Berserker follow me aroumd and hit every single mob I'm hitting, standing quite literally directly on top of my character.

I've been playing MMO's since 2003 and and I have never seen this type of behavior. It's actually insane and I couldn't believe It at first. I then I asked around and apparently it's "normal" here. That's disgusting.

New players will not tolerate it and will swiftly quit. This will reduce your revenue greatly.

Please consider changing mob claiming rules(anyone within x radius mob dying gets loot and xp), zero cooldown infinite duration marni realms that your party members can join, or hire more GMs to uickly jail and supsoend griefers.

I started this game with a group of 30 MMO vet friends who have been playing MMO's since ~1999(everquest / ultima online etc) and I am the only one left playing. They all quit due to griefers. These are adults who make 150k+/year and were willing to drop thousands on this. That's a lot of revenue lost just due to some griefers.

Never had this, did you try switching channels?

Sorry to hear about your poor friends. I am making 150k million a year and I am willing to make up for these faded away peasants. No more sleepless nights over theoretical PA revenue lost. It's all good.

PS: Physically, I am an adult, too.

I apologize in advance if I mess up the quotes. I would love if grouping up for Marni's was possible, though this might be less practical now if they reduced the size of the zones.

To answer your question though, I would think first of all that karma loss should be based on the Family's highest gear set, rather than character, given Karma is a family wide stat now. This would as a result effectively remove karma bombing unless the person truly has that little gear. As for how to differentiate them, I would argue they already are differentaited, as the person defending their spot wouldn't need to flag back in order to attack them, since the attacker flagged first. Killing the attacker doesn't incur karma because they attacked first, so in this case it isn't an issue.

I realize this was clearer in my head, because it's something I've thought about a lot when these discussions come up.

I was envisioning two scenarios:

1. Player A is grinding and Player B comes around and interferes with the grind in some way, intentionally or not.  Player A flags up and kills them and thus loses karma.

2. Player A is grinding and Player B comes around and wants to grind there as well. Player B flags up and kills Player A and thus loses karma.

The game makes no distinction between flagging in both scenarios.  Whoever flags up and kills the other player is the one that incurrs the karma loss. The game doesn't arbitrate who had a right to kill someone else.

Now, regarding karma loss being determined by highest gear score in the family, I think that's a problematic solution.  My main's gear is probably at the low end of decent, many of my alts have season gear or slightly better/some worse.  If I'm grinding in a zone that's appropriate for their gear and someone comes around and kills me, why should my main's gear matter in this case?
Same thing with lifeskill alts.  My trainer has 24 DP in her training clothes. If someone kills her when I'm going from one stable to another or doing the dailies, why should my main's gear matter?  I've been killed while fishing, farming (especially fun because you can't see other players while in the planting UI), gathering or just running across the road questing on an alt.  Why shouldn't the person PKing in these situations get the full karma penalty that the current gear differential assigns just because one of my characters that's across the ocean has better gear?

OP, I've never had access to the Olvia servers, so I had no idea this was happening over there.  That is very unfortunately.  If it happens to be the same player doing this repeatedly, you might want to report them.

Other than that, if you are on a season character, you can play in season servers for more server options, or on whatever regular servers your guild made their home channels.

On Olvia, you can not press Alt+C well you can but it does nothing.  Think Seasonal Servers that only new players have access to.  I know on seasons I have been followed by a player almost exactly like that killing everything I was starting to tag as well.  It is just as likely that the OP didn't bother checking the spot for other players and was in fact the griefer himself without realizing it.

The difference between BDO and those other games is that there are no "camps" in BDO. You don't own a mob because you're standing there. Different game, different rules.

Olvia and season servers are always griefing channels on every spot. Normal channels you also get to meet griefers but then you now have marni recharge so if you only play for 5h you only have 3h of marni which is now good instead of the 1h as before(and ppl saying that bdo is an mmo and marni destroyed it and turned it into a solo player game should think about how many party/platoon spots are in the world that efficiently gives silver for all the members and also just 1% of the game is party only while 99% is solo play from 2016)
