Coming back from the github issue [https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3620], I tried to modify my launch options: SteamGameId=582660 MESA_VK_DEVICE_SELECT=1 DXVK_CONFIG="dxgi.syncInterval=0" DRI_PRIME=1 NOSTEAM=1 %command%
but all that achieved is being back at a stage where GE just boots me to the login screen. Think I recall reading up on someone else having a similar issue. Windows are still broken
Distro: Arch
WM: i3 on xorg
Kernel: 6.7.6
GPU vendor: AMD
Sorry to be late to answer.
Is there no one in Arch forum that could help you with this ?
I read that many troubles comes with i3 desktops for BDO.
sadly it is completely broken on hyprland as well, not to mention, hyprland in general is a mess on my system
no issue with steam deck
Hello everyone,
while the game seems to run quile well in Proton, some cutscenes are incomplete or missing.
Since i only started playing a couple days ago i didn't notice at first. It seems that cutscenes rendered in the game engine are working, while pre-rendered ones do not.
This can be observed very early in the game, when the player character is beeing sent to Velia. The cutscene when meeting the alchemist is missing a scene (after the players arrival, he comments on dark energy), as well as the introduction to his daugthter afterwards (she messes up a potion).
Those smaller bits are easy to miss, but later in the game it leads to plot holes, quite literally ;)
I tested with Proton-Experimental, GE-Proton 8.32 and -9.2, to no avai.
Launch-Options: 'SteamGameId=582660 MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=60" mangohud %command%'
Distro: Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS
Kernel: 6.5.0
WM: Metacity (X11)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS
GPU: Radeon 780M
I don't think this is a config issue, probably something to be addressed in Proton...
After some research it seems that some cutscenes have either been removed or they bug out on Windows as well. I could find some YT-Videos from a couple month ago showing gameplay footage that was exactly like what i experienced on Linux.
I still think that a lot is missing, as some of the story makes no sense, with NPCs referencing events that were not shown in any way. At the same time, one can find cutscenes on YT showing exactly those events.
Since i currently don't have access to a Windows-PC, i cannot check if it's a Proton-Issue or a game issue.
@RetroDeck, I read recently here that adding Feral mode with gamemode programme in commande line enhance performances with AMD graphic. My be it could be worth to test it.
[env] gamemoderun %command%
gamemode is normaly installed with Steam deps.
@pwoe, it looks like to a game bug. BDO is known for strange bugs sometimes.
I still have BDO on a MS partition, but no new caracter to test the story.
I have tested Steam's BDO version with a brand new caracter from the Morning Light zone, and there's no cut scenes bug until there, but I didn't advance many in the story.
BDO is using many netwrok checks during its execution, maybe testing an hosted DNS resolver could be a good idea. Unbound for this is your best friend :).
@Tersyguel:
Thanks for your reply. I actually didn't think about testing in LOTM ;)
Much easier to find current videos with the opening cutscenes to compare.
