Introduction: I am happy that Succession Corsair is receiving recognition of some kind. However, I am under the strong impression that the intention does not currently allign with the Corsair playerbase. For the sake of simplicity, I will speak for myself and other Corsair players can add their input if need be.
Current State of Succession Corsair:
As of 03/08/2025 - Corsair currently sits at a comfortable place in my opinion as a brawler who mainly brings discomfort to her enemies by keeping them where they do not wish to be with her vaccum as well as by taking their forward guard away gradually. This role is well met with generous damage* on the 'whale skills' to allow this to happen as well as the rotation of super armor and iframes. Her role can be summarized by swimming around her enermies and tormenting them with mystical whales and water.
Naturally, performing this comes with weaknesses which are in my opinion also well designed currently. As of date, Succession Corsair does not have a single skill which offer a rapid crowd control effect; every crowd control skill Corsair has to offer has either an unskippable animation charging time or is being delivered with great risks such as not having any protection such as Super Armor or Forward Guard. In simple terms, Succession Corsair is not known for connecting much crowd control to a fight other than vaccum since every skill has a long casting time which makes it easily avoidable to the enemy. Lastly the most common means of defense against Corsair, she can be distabalized by being grabbed by her enemies.
*I am aware that Damage varies per game mode. AoS damage does not equate Corsair in open world or Node Wars. Corsair is currently significantly stronger in AoS than anywhere else.
Global Lab update of 03/07/2025 - Succession Corsair was met with changes that seem to directly work against the gameplay mentioned above as she received hefty damage changes on important whale skills such as 'Whale Song and Spiral Soak' which received a decrease of damage by 25%, Rabam skill 'Spiral of Dreams' received a 40% decrease of damage. However, skills 'Overflow and Whirling Slash' have received a 30% and 70% damage increase respectively. This comes with a surprise and is honestly coming from the unknown. This does not connect with the current gameplay of Corsair but rather seems to be a encouragement to use more Sword Skills than Whale skills.
Unfortuntaly, not even this damage increase would make sword gameplay become viable for Succession Corsair. It would take a lot more damage on other sword skills as well as more protection rework and crowd control changes to compete with other classes who already do this much better. As such, I am under the strong impression that this change would simply put Succession Corsair out of her element and have an even harsher time finding her place in the world of Black Desert. Greater take away, it would change the identity of Corsair as we currently known her. Playing her after those changes would feel incredibly empty and quite powerless.
Along with the damage changes reduction that I do not agree with, Corsair also received a great deal of Crowd Control changes that susprised me at first, but I understand the approach and quite frankly I am very open minded to try it. However, there are a few skills worth mentioning.
One of my favorite skill 'Whale Song' has lost its Knockdown effect against players and this does bring great sadness as I consider this my signature skill as a Succession Corsair. Though few landed, I was very happy when the Knockdown did connect. It felt very satisfying and opened a series of combo that I could only dream about before. However, if both cannot exist at once, I am excited to see how the changes on Overflow will work. I have high hopes for it.
On the opposite end of that spectrum, our Rabam skill Tidal Surge is never used. I do not know if something was traded out of our kit for this skill to have been improved, however this skill is never used and will not be used despite the changes made. It simply does not fit the narrative of the class in the playstyle. Other more suited sword skills could be in my opinion could be an improvement of 'Crashing Wave' or 'Prime: Ocean's Allure'.
Conclusion - Corsair is barely keeping up competitively and many of us would like to continue playing her without feeling like the only optimal build for her is to equip defense gear to strictly be a utility drone. While this can and is a fun experience for some, it does not reflect the entire Corsair player base and it definitely does not reflect my enjoyment when I start to swim in battle. I wish to continue using my Mystical Whales as a beautiful mean of violence against my enemies. The current damage of Corsair does not compare to any other class currently in Black Desert. It is lacking. Removing whale damage further would heavily impact us negatively despite the crowd control adjustments. As a final addition, our skill Whale Song was very loved when it received the Knockdown effect against players. Corsair would not be Corsair without the whales being strong.
We wholeheartedly hope that this will be reconsidered.

The whale skills being reduced by 25% and 40% is crazy talk. Might as well just tune every classes abilities by the same margin. She will lose her entire identity and no one will play her. Much like awakening maewha, she will die out. Another class that Pearl Abyss Korea deems to be killed forever.
The damage nerf on the whale skills are absolutely insane. She is a mermaid, that is her entire identity basically. Nerfing her damage on the whale skills gives us no other reason to use her mermaid skills besides iframing or breaking people's block. Her whale skills (that deal damage) takes a few seconds to cast and keeps her locked into an animation which she can easily get grabbed out of. They are high risk, high reward skills. The nerfs basically removed the high reward and just made it high risk. If there is anything that should be removed it's the "Restrict Guard Gauge Recovery for 5 sec on hits".
And although her damage was high (especially in content like AoS), let's have a look at the ranking (in EU). The rank 1 Corsair sits at 2228 in the season that just ended, while the rank 20 Corsair sits at 1522. I just counted, and there are 23 - TWENTY THREE - classes that score much higher on average in their respective top 20s. That is because - although Corsair's damage output can be high in capped content - Corsair has a clear weakness -> she is COMPLETELY stationary while casting these skills!
Looking at it on a large scale point of view. Uncapped: everyone builds full DR anyways so all Corsair is good for is breaking people's blocks and healing. She basically deals no damage in uncapped (DR bot meta). If you want to do anything, you should remove her block break. Capped: sure, Corsair deals damage, but once again: she needs to be stationary to do so, she can easily be grabbed or bursted down while using these skills.
Succession Corsair was finally in an "acceptable" state (as far as you call it that). And now you want to kill her off again. Meanwhile a class - which I will not name - that looks like the hunchback of notre dame continues to terrorize both capped and uncapped content and remains untouched.
REVERT CORSAIR DAMAGE NERFS! SAVE A MERMAID!
Corsair isn't stronger on AoS than anywhere else lmao, she shines in large scale right now but it's not because of her damage alone it's more because of the utility and survivability.
Her damage is higher on AoS yes, but she lacks all the tools to be a good small scale class therefore ending up being quite meh. All she has going for her in AoS is her damage, so nerfing it and giving it not really anything back as she's currently losing 2 ccs for another 2, will just end up making it weaker in AoS as well at every other content in the game.
Devs just need to remove the block break debuff from the game and nerf the whale block shred, therefore nerfing the play style of the low ap and dp bots, if they can't get value by just rotating SA they are useless, if they are forced to play the class in blast builds they will either quit when they realise that staying in SA in middle of 20 ppl = death or they will adapt and properly use the rest of the kit unlike they do right now. If you do remove the block break shit tho, you need to compensate with utility somewhere else, make the vaccuum stronger or make it heal allies while you're on the vaccuum idk, you figure it out, maybe bring the passive that corsair has on bdo mobile.
For whale damage nerfs are needded but 25% on whale song and spiral soak is way too much, and the 40% on spiral of dreams is just idiotic as this skill doesn't even have the 50% dr in SA that the others have. I would make it 10 to 15% damage nerf on whale song and spiral soak and no nerf on spiral of dreams instead.
For ccs, you need to keep whale song kd, this is our only proper engage tool currently for large scale and it doesn't make sense you're taking away engage tools like this from a frontline class. As for the other 2, I personally like whirling slash a lot I would keep that and only bring overflow and just drop the sea melancholy change all together, keep it FG and keep it without cc, maybe increase the damage to make it a high risk but decent reward skill instead of just mobility if you really like the skill.
Finally just 2 points here, E buff is still shit and ocean's allure is a joke of a Prime skill, as one of our skills that comes from awake it should at leas be useful on PvE or PvP but it's just useless in both.
final thoughts: STOP TRYING TO KILL CORSAIR, ZERKER WAS FOTM FOR 10 YEARS AND CORSAIR HAS BEEN GOOD (NOT EVEN BROKEN) FOR 6 MONTHS AND YOU'RE ALREADY TRYING TO GET IT KILLED AGAIN.

I've gone against a lot of Corsairs this Solare season, and all of them ALL OF THEM focused me to death nonstop. As annoying as it was, even then, I don't find Succession Corsair broken or in need of any nerfs. Her damage was a bit high, and her skill to reduce block was frustrating, especially considering the Solare meta, yet I still don't think she needs nerfs. If they nerf Corsair as she is now what kind of nerfs the really broken classes should get.

I dont think corsair was in need of damage nerfs... honestly I never really get cc by corsairs in the first place so maybe they need something there to help them cc people. But honestly among all the classes that needed damage nerfs, corsair is at the bottom of the list. Classes such as awk maegu, awk dosa, deadeye are much more overturned in damage. its especially noticable in this latest solare season. I would like to add, there were no corsairs in the top 100 for AOS as well... Honestly... Pearl Abyss needs to seriously get it together and get real feedback from actual players who have put in legitmate hours on a class before you put out a "balance" patch. The corsair damage nerfs on her whale skills take away from her identity as a class and were unjustified.

I would of thought that PA would of went the harder way and made changes to the class based on its survivability rather than damage, but it seems that like everything else, PA's response is to "GIVE IT MORE DAMAGE OR TAKE AWAY DAMAGE".

Something happened when the caps changed, and with the Kharazads that made this class able to absolutely take the most amount of abuse without getting a scratch.

Corsair's vacuum is the weakest vacuum in the game - I've legit seen people W walk out of it before somehow. If Corsair wants to deal damage she has to be locked in animation to do so. Also if Corsair wants to survive stuff she needs to iframe, and if she iframes she can't deal damage... So if you're throwing out all your damage skills while she's iframing, well that sounds like a skill issue. You're a zerker, literally wait for her to use Spiral Soak or Whale Song and use your grab. She is by far the easiest class to punish.
But I guess it's easy to say other classes need nerfs when you know that your class is - for god knows what reason - the golden child and will never get touched by PA.
Are they seriously going to nerf corsair xD, practically half of the classes would need to be nerfed before corsair wtf. I wonder what would happen with Zerker, Striker, and Nova then if corsair gets nerfed, I even think that Maegu awa, Dosa awa and Deadeye will be stronger post nerfs than is corsair currently without the nerfs.
The class is practically stationary and her damage is slow and predictable she does some damage but if we start comparing damage then how many classes should get nerfed.
oh and the class needs to be tanky or she would be destroyed while using whale skills.
I don't even like corsair class but cmon is just common sense.
