Valentine has to be my favorite NPC of all BDO, and it isn't for lack of lively and pleasant characters.
An eccentric old Shai of the town of Florin, his story actually captured me from before I even played Black Desert Online. You see, with his tale tied to the backstory of the Shai class, he was in fact the one who raised the small but mighty one with the giant boomerang from infancy. It was reading of him finding the shai as a foundling in the woods near Florin that made my imagination spark, and got me interested in playing Black Desert. I thought about taking a better screenshot of Valentine in a more flattering light, so his blonde beard could really shine (not to mention all the nice effects of turning up the graphics) -however, I chose this one as it came from the very first time I met Valentine as the Shai. I had not been searching for him per-se, although I admit, I was hopeful he would make an appearance as part of the Shai's story. So when I bumped into and spoke with him, and realized who it was, I glowed as if I'd really found a long-lost relative. What's more, he met all my highest expectations, from his bird-nested beard to his white pointy hat and coat.
My Shai has a father, and his name is Valentine.
