Pregunta

Does BDO benefit from faster RAM and if so, by how much. I'm using a 2666 kit right now. If I were to up to a 3200 or 3600 kit would I see a meaningful uplift in my minimum frames especially or stuttering. If anyone has a really fast ram kit you'd be a real one of you could do some fps tests at different clock speeds.

Faster RAM is fine if you can afford it but mine is something like 3600 OC but I never use it at those settings since OC will cause hardware damage over time. However, you will be limited by the MOBO's bridge and this game is heaviliy CPU bound. My computer is too fast to see any difference between 3200MHZ and faster for BDO. I did not see a difference when I built this computer 2 years ago in BDO (was testing a lot of OC parameters). Perhaps that changed recently as BDO continues to improve optimization however I don't see that faster RAM will make a difference in this game.

Since this game is CPU bound you will see greater benefits upgrading and perhaps overclocking your CPU but again, overclocking will damage it over time but intel CPUs are less likely to see damage than AMD although you're more likely to be able to afford a faster CPU with AMD and not need to overclock.

To get more technical on what might also affect your performance is hard drive. Get a really fast NVME that is directly connected to your MOBO if you want to experience better performance and this isn't just for loading screens but BDO like many other games take advantage of Virtual Memory which is something that is stored on your local drive (SSD / NVME etc). Being able to read and write to virtual memory fast is going to help tremendously for MMOs and if you are playing with a 2666MHZ your biggest benefit would either be making use of a better CPU or NVME depending on what your current hardware specs are. Splitting RAM on 4 channels instead of 2 would also have significant performance improvement just like using RAID for your hard drives (just note that there are different RAID configurations).

Unfortunately like I said, showing screenshots isn't going to make a difference for me since my computer is fast enough to keep a constant 144FPS away from city propers. This could remain 144fps or it could fluctuate depending on how BDO's servers behave. :(
