Keep this as simple as I can: P

Also understand it’s not a small idea, but want to put it out there, maybe it will spark someone’s imagination.

Charms; A special item wich a player can choose one to wear, but it can be changed. Maybe it can use the Tomb spot?

Purpose; Tailor builds for combat situations. A mechanic changer that is item dependant, not class /player /skill

Progression; A leveling system for charms using PVP related reward system (RBF seal, Shinny medals)

Base + 5 levels of progression

 

Examples;

 

Charm of Movement;

BASE: Reduce max slow cap by 2%

PRI:  Reduce max slow cap by 3%

DUO: Reduce max slow cap by 5%

TRI: Reduce max slow cap by 7%

TET: Reduce max slow cap by 7% + Skill

skill: Remove slows and immune to slow for 3 secs (cool down 5 min)

PEN: Reduce max slow cap by 10% + Skill

skill: Remove slows and immune to slow for 7 secs (cool down 3 min)

 

Charm of Courage;

BASE: Rage generation increased by 1%

PRI:  Rage generation increased by 2%

DUO: Rage generation increased by 3%

TRI: Rage generation increased by 4%

TET: Rage generation increased by 4% +skill

skill: Instantly generate 35% rage (cool down 7 min)

PEN: Rage generation increased by 5% +skill

skill: Instantly generate 50% rage (cool down 5 min)

 

Give it some thought before thinking it’s over powered, Number are just fillers for examples, just a starting point. Aslo think PA have enough of their plate at the moment.. so just a bit of fun.

 

My main game play is PVP, RBF and node ward often, siege casually. As a shai, I get time to look and listen while combat is going on, seeing issues and hear frustrations. And yes, I do PVP on shai, and get kills (not practical but fun)

It's not overpowered, it's weak.

 

Also it would be too class specific. Itemization agains only a certain classes ain't a good game design. If a class is strong, then that needs to be nerfed, and not an item added to counter it.

 

PvP trinket like items could be added, and I suggested it once aswell. Tho they could use the alchemy stone slot for that.

I can see slows eventually being addressed (again), especially if PVP does get some love. It's not that slows should not be in game, it’s that there are hard no counter, but every class can produce Slows.

If you start adjusting skills and slow (for example), you are then impacting Pve, where as a trinket/charm dose not impact the caster, but makes the target decide where they want to reduce the impact of such CCs


And as balance is changed, the items get adjusted rather than skills, so reducing the overall impact on a class. Making a separation between PVP impact and PVE.


If you live in RBF for example having a blast, nothing is duller than a match of over the top slows. Not saying it’s not a fair tactic, and you can engage the slow casters (mage / Guardian) but that’s the match, fighting slows… Match doesn't flow, match dose not feel energetic, it become dull.


At least with stuns stiffens and Kd and such, you can build in some counter, but also…
Kinda the same for RBF and rage example. Zerks suffer a lot at the hands of my shai, they can become useless all match as I just have to stun them.. how you would balance that? Take away my PVP stun? Somehow reduce my ignore reset build? Nah, better to give zerks a hard counter.


I know it sound like patching a problem, but these aren’t problems of skill mechanics , more of lack of options, There are no counter options, well none that allow the match to flow.


I’m not taking about an items that adds extra resistances, but I see the frustrations and feel them myself, when a pvp match become slow and dull, of you can’t take part because for class composition of the other team <that’s something you can’t real counter with class reworks


Best I can explain my point of view, hope it makes some sense :)
