it would I think be rather foolhardy for PearlAbyss not to build a native Linux port of BDO.
Just enabling the EAC to work with proton/wine would be amazing, no need for native port.
This would be good to have. If we can't play it on MacOS at least to use Linux as an alternative. It's not hard to set EAC to run on Linux (maybe not even on VM) but it needs to come from PA. I hope that Pearl Abyss will do this for the players.
Hello, I sometimes play games on Linux using Steam Proton. Easy Anti Cheat is now supported in Proton but the developer of the game has to add the support. I would like to see you add this support so I do not have to use dual boot to play games and just stay on Linux. If you look at the ProtonDB website you can see people want Black Desert to have this support https://www.protondb.com/app/582660
I am not sure what it takes to add this support but I think it would be nice to see more games in Linux and Black Desert would be a nice addition.
Thank you
lemme smash that hope they are changing the anti cheat to xingcode soon so this will not happen most likely even tho i would be in favour of it.
There was a Global Lab annoucement in 1th of december patch note that they going to switch back to Xigncode.

This is not a very good news for Windows players, but maybe a good one for Linux players because Xigncode became a Linux good fellow since a short time.
Fade up to continuously switch between platformes, I started to play to Phantasy Star Online ( also known as Phashion Star Online :) ). PSO were working over GameGuard and there were no issue with Proton using GE-Proton. Then, they deicded to switch to XignCode and , by bad experiences, I was very scared. But, in fact, I didn't have to.
Xigncode has worked on Linux compatibility and the game, apart some unexpected sound little issues, works flawlessly.
So, there is here a kind of "bad news, good news" :)
It's still a bit sad to not hear a word from the dev team, not even a "we can't do it now, .......". But maybe 2024 is the year !

Hoping they bring this change soon!
Yay! just need a couple tweaks!
For anyone not aware, the game is now using xigncode and can run on linux. There are however a couple issues:
1. launcher is blank, but you can still input your details and click play
2. the biggest problem is that the central market isn't working yet
On going discussions can be found at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3620
It's done boys, it finally works :D
Switching to proton experimental bleeding edge in beta settings in steam fixes the black launcher and market not working.
