There is some good music in the game and it is not as repetitive as most games.  However, I am wondering how you "trigger" this background music.  For example; I was in Calpheon doing my shopping and the music started DOOM... DOOOM... DOOOOM... DOOOOOM... DOOOOOM... DOOM!   Oh no!  Is there a hidden enemy in the Central Market?! no?  Why was the incidental music so scary?  I left out of town and started working my garden and the music changed to spooky, erie, ghost music... on a sunny day.  I was riding in the swamps of Glish and it sounded like a remix of Ride of the Valkyries had started.

Great job on adding new tracks and getting some great mood music, now you need to set the proper event triggers.

Have Fun!

I don't think they added new music, I think they just made most songs available via "RNG jukebox." You're better off listening to music from youtube or something if you want consistency at least for now. I'm pretty sure most people disable BGM, it's one of the first things I do when I play an MMO after getting through the story.

Existing thread: A musical dilemma... - [Feedback to Patch 13.04.2022] -

Not sure whether more topics or a single active thread is best in getting attention / action. Probably not going to see a response either way.

Other MMOs and games have such limited music and I normally pop in a Jeremy Soule CD.  BDO has great variety of music, I don't think the mood for the triggers are set in the proper manner.

Ever since they added music (see this update here) I think their triggers are messed up, this might just be my opinion.  Happy adventure travel music should play when riding undisturbed in the country.  The mood should be spooky in the swamp, not when I am planting on a bright summer day.  Meanwhile monsters and battle music seems to be unaffected by the April changes.

Have fun!

It depends on the region we are talking about as to if they added new music or not. Right now it seems to me that some regions just shuffle between pre-April tracks and that this behaviour is more dominant over any new music. For example:

- In Valencia where Sand Grain Bazzar plays at Sand Grain Bazzar and every single sanctuary in the desert. I think it plays at Rock Post too.

-A track that played as you enter Valencia City outskirts is also played frequently in many areas.

-In Thorwood Forest and the O'dyllita border region, main menu music sometimes plays.

Others have pointed out similar behaviour. Messed up triggers could also be a reason why in some areas music will play for a few seconds before changing to something else, or become silent. There are different tracks in monster areas though whereas before only one track played in loop.

I agree. BDO has great music when compared to other MMOs, but when I browsed BDO Reddit I found some people not liking the music. Now I just mute the desert/Valencia City and play the original music from Youtube. I also mute Grana and loop the Grana theme in the background. Sadly I cannot find Grandiha's theme anywere, it is such a calming theme but I cannot have it play continuously in Grandiha.

I assumed that the main menu music was taken from those, not the other way around.

Still pretty sad about this whole thing, and the current music treatment is a constant reminder.  Every time something dissonant plays, I get that twinge.

At the start I played without music.  Almost wish I had never turned it on at all, then I wouldn't have known what I was missing first hand.  The there's the "well, at least I knew the good stuff for a time" thought.

The current state of the music is SAD.  I have taken to just muting the music when it doesn't vibe with the area... which is 90% of the time.  I LOVE the music in this game and I have NEVER had to mute it before.  Now it drives me nuts.  I hope they create a toggle to allow players to switch back to the previous music triggers.  Or just reset it back before they "fixed" it.

I'm hoping, and assuming they're seeing this feedback, and that the new music they've promised is being worked on, and that they'll fix these issues with the next update to the music system, which will probably come sometime after the SA Servers are fully transfered over to PA and they have them running smoothly... I'm going to guess self publishing another region is the reason content updates have been so slow lately.
