Today I actually created another character to check out the new and improved start up for Black Desert.

Pros

The quests now make more sense, other than just "Go kill 10 wolves, because we told you to do it.".

Introductions to characters are more indepth and not so superficial.

Many players unaccustomed to written English, can now listen to the story. 

Cons

Since I am a vetern player, shouldn't I be allowed to skip tutorials?

Dialog is a tiny bit too jovial for my taste, there are several movie based jokes made, and everyone seems pleased you are possessed with a black spirit.

There seem to be no options to mute the spoken dialog, if desired.

I will keep testing the waters to see how far these changes go, but for today I stopped at the Western Guard Camp just prior to speaking to the princess.

I agree the update is not informative to new or veteran players & just serves to push players away with slow paced cutscenes & a complete lack of information where as considering it's an open world mmo players should be able skip such a bland boring & tasteless update & figure out how to do things on there own if they wish. Either they could add a skip option or remove this entirely as there just pushing away new players with garbage content...

Well it seems nice, the first time I sat through it for 15min while having a mild panic attack that I cant skip it.  Wanted to max out my family fame and lvl a few new alts today needless to say character creation is now dead to me.  Being forced to sit through this everytime you make a new character is  terrible.

The Good

They addressed some plot issues such as Dr. Uno's role in researching the imps.  They cut the fat a little too.  We also get to see Red Nose transform and not just burst forth as before.  I found the fight more formidable. Then they gave valid reasons for us to be doing quests and not just mindlessly grinding them.

The Bad

They need to remove the black bars from the top and bottom, why is this on my wide screen monitor as a faux letterbox format?  I agree they need to either add a skip tutorial button for players other than the first time, but it is their puppy to kick.   Once you experienced the new opening and tutorial, it should be an option to skip everything up to the "Warm up" quest and enter the game as level 7.  However I can't help but think, this was done in such a way, just to discourage making temporary characters, to get more shabby fences, dyes, etc. from them.  As most players know there are some "family quest items" that can be gathered early on in the game.  Maybe the 24 hour deletions wasn't long enough?  

I now killed Red Nose and entered Velia and got a new cutscene there.  Left off at talking to Alustin the Alchemist for the first time.  I will continue this later.

Today I wrapped it up.  My valkyrie Dyonious, finished at a total time of 4:45 solid playing and a level of 19 and 65%.

The Whole Enchilada

They changed the location of your black spirit's first awakening to Cron Castle and added the boss Phantom Knight up there.  All the bosses seem to be on steriods for it being beginner stuff.  So I dipped into my storage and put on the free gear you get on the way out to Valencia.  I don't think it helped all that much as they took my health down 50% with a single blow.  I also grabbed +275 Extra Large HPs.

Red Nose, Giath, and Phantom Knight all have some very nasty attacks.  I don't think airstrikes is very fair to be honest.

The story seems a tad bit too long after you reach Alustin.  They almost removed the NPC Richie and took out Crio's part altogether.  Most of the time you are being flirted with by Eileen and they keep treating your character as male.  As I said, this is a valkyrie, they made the statement in the church that Eileen is chasing men and not women.  Afraid the dialog fails on that point.  The women follow you everywhere even placing themselves in harms way.

At the end you meet the spy who dressed as a goblin, out of make up, at the Heidel gateway and say good-bye.  The story returns to "normal" after that point.  They added a lot of dialog and removed some other tasks as well.  It is very good for first time players, but once you finish this, the next time you will find yourself sleeping through cut scenes and spamming the R key.  Of course you can still disreguard the questline, grab your PEN gear from storage and power level mobs as you head out toward Calpheon.  You won't need this unless you plan to return and do storyline questing for some other reason.  I am glad I got all my characters done before they changed this or I would be demanding a skip playthrough for a lot of this story.
