What do you think about them adding the chat report option for it to be reviewed by mods without a firsthand penalty though?
Since it's much more likely that people would use it instead of screenshot + ticket.

like i said the guy can mass report with his friend and guildy against another guy, so it is why i dont like a system where you cant use chat, because a emo dude ask his friend to report you

if the mmorpg is seriously managed, screenshot+ticket should be enough

New player here and I'm wondering if the in-game's "Group" chat is moderated at all?
I had to disable it as it's filled with people hurling insults at each other, talking about sensitive off-topics and spamming obscene language that I'd rather just keep it disabled. It's like an outlet for toxic people to vent their toxicity as much as they can and it doesn't give a positive image of the game's community even though people in the Discord server's community are much more friendly and nice to meet.

It's unfortunate that new players auto-join this chat and are greeted with all of that, I don't know how it is for other regions cause I was told the chat is region shared and I'm on EU.

Oh well...

This community is pretty garbage, ngl.
I stick to server chat where people tend to at least be a little helpful.

There are 8 different Chat Groups based on topic.  New and returning players are placed in the Lunar Halo Inn, but there are other groups dedicated to grinding, PvP, sailing, life skills and general adventuring.

Esc --> Community --> Chat Groups is how you change that.

It's more about the procedures being taken to prevent those players from abusing the chats.

Some companies known for generally toxic communities realized things were getting out of hand and started adding deterrents in their game to keep those players in check and discourage them from their behavior, at least in some way.

Why even bother trying to stop them at all?  The answer may seem obvious, but it's not.  The problem is everything doesn't add up.  One of the main reasons is deeming it harmful to the game and creating an unfriendly environment.

At the SAME TIME that type of behavior is being encouraged in OWPVP.  Only it's MUCH WORSE.  You can easily just block that person and the problem is solved.  You can't do the same with someone trying to FORCE you out an area.  Especially using exploitive measure and broken mechnics to make it happen.

So why bother even trying to prevent toxic chat while advocating toxic behavior at the same time?

Limited resources?  So you are SUPPOSED to just push some other customer out of a spot so YOU can have it?  That's more problematic than WORDS you can ignore.

There is NOTHING anyone can ever say that is more problematic than a zerker trying to exploit mob feeding.  TEXT doesn't interrupt your game play.  Self control allows you to decide how to react to it and the block function works just fine.

Pearl Abyss's official policy is you can DO harmful things, you just can't SAY harmful things.

Now don't forget to check out that new busted class and always have your wallets ready!! Because we care!!! (about your money)

Thanks for the guide, was really nice to know. Will be checking them out each and see what suits me best.

Now that I see the menu...

Feel bad for PA a bit over there to be honest, feels like they were having higher expectations of the community as a whole.

It is pretty garbage, but that's to expected when trying target a hostile PVP audience.  As opposed to more friendly games that promote positive interactions, grouping, and a better social atmosphere.

I just saw a red trying to kill afk fishers just outside a safe border.  Now ask yourself, what does the red get out of this?  Trolling/taunting/griefing/harassing people that made a simple mistake of being just outside a border.

Aside from wanting to harass these people there is literally NO reason, No gains, No PVP score, NOTHING to be obtained other than spoiling the game for others.

That same garbage community will tell you it's their fault for being outside the safe zone instead of addressing the fact there is nothing to be gained but harassing others.  Thus another reason why the community is garbage.

Welcome to Black Desert Warbreaker,

One of the first things I did upon arrival was to set my chat to group only and make it only visible in one of my UI settings.  You have 3 settings and these can be set to ALT+hotkey in game.  (e.g. No chat = ALT+8 Chat visible = ALT+9)  I definately have it invisible most times as it distracts me despite of what is said.

I am not for censorship but I do understand the desire not to read toxic chat.   My pre-teen grand daughter plays BDO as well and she seldom engages in chat herself.  Which shows you the people talking like that are less mature than a 12 year old.  When we ask any newbie questions about the game, we get a feel for the room first.  If it is heavy with the trolls, she won't join the conversation and wait to ask later.  I myself will go ahead and ask the question and if I come under fire, I will simply retort;  I will return with my serious questions later when all you boys have gone to bed and are done talking about the intimacy you will never have with a real person.

I don't have issues with moderation, but I believe self moderation is the key here.  I have questioned forum moderation at times.  As they hide the post and I don't know what I said that was wrong.  I end up having to ask the support to look it up.  Social issues will continue online no matter how much you punish offenders.   This is because we can bypass social norms online. We can get angry online, more than we do in the real world, and say things are mean and vindictive, because we're cloaked by a degree of anonymity. With the growing prevalence of linking social accounts to log-in protocols, this cloak is shrinking. For now, it can be purging to speak your mind. However it will not end the source of the conflicts within any forum. While the commenters may hang around for a while, they can always ignore their lack of knowledge, never apologize, or even depart the forum and never return.

Enjoy the game and have fun!
