I used to think that the vote system making its way into this forum was a good thing. It meant that you can see the popularity of the opinion posted and how well it was received. Now I have changed my mind, and here is why:
Just about anyone who wanted to show their support for or against a post or topic could do so with a single click of the mouse button. However there is now a dark-side to this system. As a post has too many downvotes, it gets scrubbed and removed from the forums- completely. This kind of absolute censorship is destroying the share and speak-up culture that is essential to any successful forum.
So now I ask that this =
"This post was hidden by staff due to the reports it has received." gets abolished.
Even reddit gives you option to view the unpopular opinions and downvoted posts. I for one, want to see all the content posted here, even if its unpopular.
PA forums moderators please fix this.
Yeah, I don't want posts to be completely removed simply due to unpopularity. I'm on the fence about hateful/abusive/inappropriate language. I'm figuring that we're all adults here and can deal with words that we decide to see for ourselves.
They need to completely remove the downvote and let those who disagree say WHY they disagree.
We had no problem with this system on the Kakao forum
here in addition to losing a good part of the basic functionalities of the forum, we have censorship of voters' nicknames, censorship of comments and complete censorship of the post when there is too much report...
Those have nothing to do with downvotes. U can have 100 down votes and the post will still be visible.
It only means that PA deleted that post.
Cat is right. These posts get deleted due to being rule-breaking not due to downvotes. Downvotes don't matter in that consideration.
Generally, posts here get deleted due to
1. Bot posts / suspicious links or accounts
2. Spam / Thread bumping
3. Insults / bad language
4. Breaking ToS / intentional and destructive misinformation

What category is the moderated post below?
The advantage of reddit over here is that you can find censored messages
I just see players unhappy with the impossibility of playing and a company that censored their messages
Who tells me that among all the censored messages on this forum, there are not legit ones?
Can't really say anything about Reddit, the mods there are no affiliated with PA and can make their own rules. Sure, there may be posts that were removed for other reasons, that's why I said "generally". I have no info on all the decisions that go into hiding a post, I can only judge from what I have personally seen.

You hit the nail on the head, most of the time it is indeed for bad language or breaking ToS, which is completely understandable as it doesn't correlate to what PA and the Black Desert Community stands for. Its a forum not some Mean Girls-esque Fan Club where you get kicked out and bullied because your opinion is too unpopular or you get 'one too many downvotes' "oopsies". Furthermore, we have freedom of speech here; PA would never censor/remove posts because once again "ew too many downvotes thats ugly can't have you on the forum page now sorry", its highly unprofessional and PA is not that type of company.

This is irony in its purest form.
All of the feedback has been scrubbed from the post, its unreal.
