Once upon a time, my main fisherman, an Archer, not a Shai, who is supposed to the the lifeskiller(?), used to fish the waters of Velia Beach, until he became a Guru level fisher. Then, he never caught a blue, yellow, or red grade fish there, so I left for better waters, like the rivers of Kamasylvia. I'm glad, because I expanded my horizons. Now, I have a Season Musa fishing for the Season fishing event. I had him fish on regular servers in out of the way places to get him to Professional level so he could fish all night. Along the Demi Riverbank, I caught several blue grade fish, while at Skilled levels, and then graduated to Professional while at Coastal Cave. I was feeling nostalgic so I had him fish all night at Velia Beach, Season Server 3. Come morning, not a single blue fish was caught, whereas if I was fishing at Heidel, I probably would have had nine or ten.
So, why is there only green grade fish at Velia? Or is this just a seasonal thing, and I have completely been wrong about this place for the past two years?
The velia hotspot has all tiers of fish, but all other spots in the city do not. Same thing in epheria and a bunch of other places in the "old" regions. Used to be to encourage people to fish out of safe zone, but that was made irrelevant with years of updates, and the hotspots being added.
Ok. Where the main group fishes must not be the hot spot, then. Still, I'm glad it's no longer my usual place. It's a wide, beautiful world out there!
Where the main group fishes is indeed the hotspot. Its right outside of velia, near the rock with the fishing NPC sitting on top. But you actually have to stand in the middle of the people there, the spot is not really large.
Ok, I must have just been on the edge of it. Lucky me!
I resumed my usual spot for these events on the Heidel dock, and all was well.
