Comments: Like many players, I'm playing the game from day 1, and I had to go through a very painful color system to dye my equipement.
Today, it's almost impossible to get colors from elsewhere than real money (and value pack). And even with, it's ridiculously random for the amount of money you need to spend: that in game mechanic is totally broken today. If I want to dye with the merv palette, that is the only really option today, I must bleach all the hard work and throw away, all the money I used to get there, and it seems very unfair.
Suggestion: I understand that merv palette is working like this, and it can't work in another way.
But the dye system is real, and it should be revamp like the pearl furnitures.
It should be possible to craft colors in game through alchemy or any craft, to offer a real alternative to the merv palette system.
I really hope that PA will do something wabout it, because I love this game, and I wish I could spend some time to custom my gear without having to pay something I already payed for long time ago.
Right now the basic colour system is more or less a newbie trap: If you happen to accidently basic colour something - with individual colours you already have to pay for each - then changing these is NOT possible with a value pack. I had to discover this the hard way. Very silly. Also, the "clear" dye has to be purchased for money too, how genious! So you are better off not using basic colours and go with merv´s palette instead...
It goes without saying that such monetary newbie traps (BDO has quite a few of them) are very customer-unfriendly and they do hurt the game´s population and reputation in the long rong.
The color dye mechanic outside of a merv pallette is 100% a money pit designed to capture the ooo and aaah's of WHALE players, those who swipe $2000 at a time when they feel inclined to try their RNG at a 3 tone reward from a loot box.
Better off elimating any emotional attachment to colorful gear unless you have VP or Merv active
Every RGB color is also avalible by utalizing the merv pallete, so it's just another feature locked behind the 'monthly' subscription
