Before reading, I'd like to mention that any of this has the potentional to be considered a spoiler.

Out of curiousity, after watching a bit of a video by a player playing Land of the Morning Light on the Korean side of the game and seeing this new upcoming boss character known as Songakshi in the story I got interested in knowing more about her and what her story could be like so I went around digging for information on what I could find about it in Korean folklore and managed to come across these interesting findings I'd like to share for anyone interested:

The Korean Virgin Ghost is the spirit of an unmarried woman in Korean folklore and urban legend.

In early traditional Korea, women were brought up with the ideologies that their life’s sole purpose shall be serving their father, husband, and children. It was believed that a woman cannot move into the afterlife if she dies before fulfilling these responsibilities. It was considered that to them dying a virgin is equivalent to their life being meaningless. Thus, unmarried young girls after death turn into evil spirits. They mainly attach to young girls of their age, harassing and harming them. They may also ruin the family and so are specially enlisted as a vassal in their household.
They are mainly known to haunt abandoned buildings, especially in hospitals, schools, bathrooms, cemeteries, lakes, dark country roads or wooded areas. They start their act around midnight which continues until dawn. They almost always have long hair covering their faces, with sullen features, dressed in white. It is believed that people will know that they are in the presence of a virgin ghost when there is a sudden change in temperature and the wind direction. They haunt with anger and revenge to those who caused them harm and are also believed to haunt newly married couples. They are considered to bring illnesses and accidents.

This will be my first time playing a game with Korean culture, especially that it has horror elements added to it which could make it even more entertaining to me.
