Is there any plan to keep this game relevant long term?

I still stand by my point that this game is aging and in a lot of areas doesn't look so good anymore. I'll provide a few pictures for now because I didn't initially.

I wanted to take more but I have an appointment really soon. The first one is mainly to show how bad the shadows look. The next few are just showing NPCs obviously, but they look absolutely terrible. Player characters while quite a bit better, still are looking rough these days. This also all doesn't even account for the atrociously bad pop-in that's been present in the game since day one. BDO simply isn't looking great anymore. It looks alright. It's passable, especially considering it's an MMO with large scale PvP, but I think part of the reason why BDO runs horribly in large scale is probably due to the game's engine. While it's impressive that PA built such a good game on an in-house engine, I think they need to reconsider their usage of it if it's continuing to hold the game back.

It makes literally zero sense to me why I'm being downvoted for wanting this game to be updated to look better in the future. BDO isn't stylized and goes for a somewhat realistic look. Games that go for realism don't age well visually. The screenshots I posted are on the max remastered settings but with TAA disabled, because honestly, TAA just makes the game look even worse.

It makes zero sense to you because you're convinced by your suggestion but... We do not share your opinion because :

 - for a MMORPG, the visual quality is quite good, even today. No need to focus too much on this aspect for now.

 - if the engine had to be reworked, we'd hope for a better fluidity, a better optimization, and above all the removal of the infamous "more fps = more dps". But visuals, shadows, seems secondary to me at this moment, because they're not so bad and again, this is a MMORPG.

Out of curiosity, could you tell me which mmorpg has better visuals than BDO to your opinion ?

Because you're comparing an MMO to current gen titles, and the title is immediately confrontational by equating current gen, top tier graphics with game relevance.

Compare BDO to other mmos, not to single player or lobby based games which can control and account for a more limited number of objects and effects on screen.

The only comparable MMO in terms of graphics right now is New World, and that still doesnt quite beat bdo, especially not in the character department.

Also, are you playing on remastered or ultra? Or the normal settings? Because the first 2 make nice improvements to the visuals.

Because you down kick the game with a personal opinion that we don't share. Many MMORPGs are visually great and BDO is actually one of them.

And I'm gonna ask the same question than Sadalsuud: which game do you think BDO should take inspiration from?

The game is old. Outdated compared to today's games. In Korea, grinders may still be popular, but in the West they are failing more than ever.

Many games from the Asian region have been shut down and have released a "classic" version, which again leads to emptiness.

With the last expansion, PA has added something useful.

Problem what BDO still has is that this game is a huge casino.
Everything is based on luck and that must be massively reduced if not abolished.

Equipment, the class and your Level - THAT is gameplay technically simply VERY IMPORTANT.
It can't be that players need weeks, months or years to upgrade one equipment part to PEN.

Equipment is the factor that keeps players from seeing anything except Kamasylvia or Drieghan. It is not motivating to fail an upgrade over and over again in addition to the downgrade.
Even if PA has integrated one method or another for a guaranteed PEN upgrade, this still needs to be mitigated.

When new players start playing BDO they get everything thrown at them up to a certain level. The seasons help a bit but at the end of the day they only have TET equipment. If they go somewhere else and hang out, another player comes with massively stronger equipment and kills him.

"The way is the goal" no longer corresponds to today's stand.

Should they defuse the upgrade or remove it completely and introduce a replacement system that allows you to strengthen your class in aspects related to the equipment you wear.

Make the equipment much more important than the upgrade.

If then every player almost equal to others meet the whole PvP relationship looks completely different - and hey it could be quite fun!

Even if magazines write that BDO has more players again and are enthusiastic about the last update, it doesn't change the core problem and players will quickly jump off again.

BDO is one of the most beautiful MMOs I've played. I play on ultra settings, though. I think their focus should be more on evolving the gameplay itself before worrying about graphics. I've played games with absolutely terrible graphics but I kept playing because I enjoyed the game itself. Nobody will play a beautiful game that isn't enjoyable. Respectfully, I disagree with your overall perspective but I do agree there are some visual improvements they could make. I just don't think it's a priority over the gameplay itself.

Should you really tell that Korean grinders are failing more than ever when BDO is alive and quite active? XD

And your source on players quickly jumping off again?

You're kinda clueless. BDO have only one positive and that is it's graphics, everything else, and especially the gameplay is trash and should be improved if they want to be relevant.

Honestly, I'd rate BDO in the Top 5 MMO on the current market. Outside of BDO, GW2, ESO, FFXIV, and WoW no other MMO comes close to BDO popularity and charm. And there are over 40 MMOs currently on the NA/EU market atm. So, in my opinion I think it's very dishonest to say that the only good thing about BDO is it's graphics. I mean sure you can say that BDO's , visual fidelity is the best portion of the game. But overall BDO stands head and shoulders above a good majority of MMOs on the market. And in my eyes that means a lot.
