With the new changes to decs and karma, how are you supposed to defend your spot from karmabombers ?

There's plenty of spots I can take off several armor pieces and not be at risk from the mobs and just grind right over you, and if you kill me you're suddenly turning red WAY faster than expected since I'm half naked.

You're misrepresenting the issue as "pvpers against non-pvpers".

9 out of 10 hours I will grind the entire time without seeing anyone for more than a second as a white dot moving by. I'm not going out hungry for PvP. I want to grind. What allows me to grind is the system that allows me to have recourse for someone deciding to just walk into my rotation and start killing mobs by declaring war on their guild. It both deters most of the people out there from griefing rotations with impunity AND gives me agency to handle it myself or with my guild. Which is FUN emergent gameplay that is the core of what makes this game good.

People are very vocal about how they like boss blitz, and I agree it has been fun to work through. But I'm pretty much done with the freshness of it, I've done every boss enough that it's now in the chore column and not the fresh content column. That's okay, it was worth a lot of fun for a lot of people! But my point here is that the underlying emergent content that comes from a shared open world with limited resources is the evergreen core of the game's fun.

I genuinely believe these changes will massively negatively impact all players, even the players who are scared of pvp and think this is a solution. It will cause massive griefing and remove the game design of a shared open world nearly entirely.

J, please do not undermine the core of this game. I don't want a single player grind game. I want a shared open world that drives player interactions and the fun that springs from them. Don't cater to the new people, allow the new people to learn what makes this game BETTER than the cookie cutter MMOs they came from.

zBoo, you are fundamentally misunderstanding war declarations if you think this is about PvP.  This is about maintaining decorum and etuiquette much like we do in our everyday lives. 

In the current system, bad behavior is punished by the weight of a guild or guilds.  I have played BDO for many years and have never experienced this alleged "Grief Dec" wherein a player waits 15minutes just to harm a new player.  Geared players who just want pvp do like you said - they go to arsha or RBF.  Moreover, there are only a handful of guilds that will support that kind of behavior and they are all already blacklisted and constantly pressured by better guilds.

I follow neither of these. I grind where I want when I want. With these new changes now no one will be able to force me out of the grind spot. 

You don't understand what these changes do. They don't prevent other people from griefing your spot. What prevents other people from griefing your spot is the ability to attack them and defend your ability to grind there.

With the new changes, you can do nothing against me. You're a new player and I stroll up on my 715 gear score tagged Succession Berserker mowing through the entire area at the speed of sound and preventing you from making money. That's the actual griefing that happens. With the system the game has had its entire existence, you can declare war on the guild and in 15 minutes you are able to defend your spot by attacking the player.

There is no plague of people wandering around the world and declaring war on undergeared people just trying to grind. It's not a problem that exists. It's an imagined bogeyman of a problem. I defy anyone to show me a video of this happening EVER. I grind all over the map and haven't had someone try to take my spot for half a year. No one has even tried. What actually happens is that someone in guild chat says another person is griefing their rotation by grinding over them and took off their gear to karma bomb them when they tried to fight them off. And guess what the solution is? You guessed it, a one sided declaration against that griefer's guild so that we can bring a group of guildies over and push them off the spot so our guildmate can grind in peace. Which is actually amazing emergent content and is, like I've repeatedly said here, the core of BDO.

Game has been growing stedily for 8 years with the pvp rules as is. What do you mean 'pvpers killing the game'?

some of these new players arew going to get ganked and ragequit. Yea, thats life. Not every game is right for every person.

Trying to make your game appeal to every single kind of player makes for a watered down experience that satisfies noone.

every stick has two ends, stronger players throw weaker players out of the grinding places, red players kill the horse riders as soon as they cross the safe area a bit, my Shai was killed several times from behind when weeding, it's her own fault, it's a pvp game and she just had the honor of meeting the brave red player
