█ Hello again everyone. I am a level 66 Shai main. I am here to deliver some good'ol feedback.
█ Today I want to talk about one of BDO's biggest problems; the Shai class.
█ What Shai is:
Shai was released on June 26, 2019 so she has been around in the game for four years now. Four years of developers trying to make her a special and unique class. Shai has a toolkit that was designed to be a siege class. She has powerful AOE party buffs, powerful AOE enemy de-buffs, and disruption tools to turn the tides of massive PVP encounters. After she was designed to this purpose, she was then given a weapon to fill in the blanks to be a bare minimum to pass as a class. And the bare minimum is what she has. Her florang attacks are severely limited in variety and AOE and her mobility is unprotected. After playing this class for 4 years, I have had enough. Shai is a failed experiment, she has caused more harm than benefit to BDO over the years. She remains a problem still in many areas of the game.
█ How she is a problem:
Shai has the most potential to be of use in a party... so much so that its critical that she be in every party when doing any kind of group content. I am not overstating this when I say that she is meta for group content, it's foolish to NOT use her. This makes the very existence of her a problem. You cannot do party content without a Shai, because if you do- you are in for pain and suffering that come in the form of less profit and less progress. Shai is a class that forces a team-member to be a spell-casting slave. Shai is a class that cannot perform elementary PVP combo's and damage. The user is robbed of the experience of real BDO combat and learned tactical progression. Shai is constantly a problem for content creation as she is exploitable, her design suffered as a direct result of poor dev decisions in releasing new grind areas (in referring to the release of Elvia Trolls as one example). If Shai continues to be this horrible abberation in the game, the development of BDO and growth of the game will suffer.
█ Shai is used as a crutch in most end-game areas for her party skill efficacy. This also made it possible for pilot's (cheaters who are paid to boost other players) to use a party of 2 to boost one account by more than 200% yield for profit over time. People who use Shai's have a lower quality of life in the game overall, because Shai is not better at anything in the game over other classes. In fact- she is worse. Shai's proposed "enhanced life skill ability" does not give her better performance in any life-skill related activities. Not a single one. All she has is an initial starting level of Professional 1 in gathering and alchemy. Shai cannot grind better than other classes, she cannot life-skill better than other classes, she cannot PVP like other classes. People who use her are in a disadvantaged position EVERYWHERE except group content.
█ Shai users are required to get a self-made Artina Sol talent weapon. This weapon cannot be tagged over to a new class. So users of the Shai have to get an entirely new awakening weapon to use for a new class when even trying something new. This is a hazard for new players who are trying to make sense of BDO. It is a hazard for any established player who wants to try her out. It is a roadblock that is unnecessary, unreasonable and unconscionable.
█ Proposed Solutions: Rework the class completely. Change her Artina Sol party skills to be self-cast only. Give her a new set of Artina Sol attacks that make the Sol a useful weapon. Give her an entire skill kit just like other classes have (she deserves to have more than 9 attacks). Remove her PVP restriction and class to class damage ratios. Make her Sol taggable. Listen to the community outcry and remake Shai so she's not this special unicorn that deserves special treatment. |
You still trying eh, gotta give credit for determination
While you're at it, get rid of all the shai-only stuff as well, such as:
-donkey
-alpaca
-dance emotes
-music
-gathering/alchemy boost
-special crafted outfits
If you want her to be a normal class, the above perks should go as well.

Exactly! I hate it. Why do we need a shai, if we want to do party content?!? It's stupid and makes neither us nor shais happy
What insult? I simply disagreed. But go ahead and report me if that makes you feel better sweetheart. What ever helps you sleep better at night ;)
Call upon the wrath of your mom and 3-member afk guild to downvote and attack everyone who disagrees with you. Reported for harassment.
I disagree with this post. -1
See how that works? ;)
Kind regards
What does this mean?
Do you really feel like you disagree with the content of the post?
Or are you being petty?

Option B. She doesn't even have a Shai. She doesn't even play the game.
Playing 2 years, max level 61, max lifeskill Prof 9, guild manager of 3-member guild. Literally just logs in to socialize and troll the forum.
