One of the many things I have enjoyed doing with my characters is life skills.  I made another character recently, primarily to life skill them from nothing to something.  This new "family model" has taken away my character's individual nature and any real goal for me.  Before the April switch up, I was a level 30 dark knight and working at fishing, farming, and cooking.  Now everyone on my account is Masters and Artians.  So a man who lived in a dry desert all his life, is suddenly very good at fishing although he never fished a day in his life.   Now if I create a new character, they suddenly arrive fully loaded.  No one on YouTube is upset about this, they are shouting hooray for this move, but none or few are covering the loss.  Did anyone else notice they took away some login silver by changing the point system?  Probably not.

The biggest loss is the content.  I enjoyed going back over the life skills, but now I can no longer do this.  I enjoyed making new characters and working them up.  It seems all pointless now. At this rate, some day in the near future, I expect to see no need to train horses, combat skill, or even bother to craft anything.  All anyone will do is create a new level 70 character in the best red battle armor and jump into PvP and they will be ok with that set up.  I know I won't be happy.

Have fun!

It's a very pessimistic take is all. What you do with your character is in relation to you, it doesn't punish the way characters do anything. You can still choose to play how you like. Artisan and Maters anything is not gameplay related in any way. The only thing that really changes in most of these things are the rewards. The only thing that's gameplay related is the gear and you could always transfer that to other characters.

Basically what I'm saying is, I don't see your point. All I can see is you like seeing small numbers go up? I dont have any suggestion for that. Been there felt that.

a really simple fix is to just add a check box to character creation that allows you to opt that character out of family wide life skills.

Welcome to Black Desert!

I know you only have 200 hours in the game so far, but I wanted to say welcome anyway because it seems like your stay in our world is brief and frequent.

I encourage you to browse the posts that have come before yours concerning lifeskill improvements, as many of us have toiled long and hard, and our feedback section is vast.

Happy reading.

I guess I don't understand how this takes away content.

I had a G22 fisher, which wasn't my main character.  My main character does EVERY quest available (literally only have a couple left to do).  At Port Epheria, there's like 7 to 9 quests that open up once you hit G20 fishing.   I can now do these quests on every one of my characters.

The only content that was taken away is being able to do the Leap lifeskill quests on every character.  But, there's still a bunch of other hunting, fishing, cooking, etc quests that you can now do on EVERY character.  That doesn't mean you have to.

I still have a dedicated lvl 49 fisher and horse trainer.  My shai still does my cooking, farming, and alchemy.  My corsair still does trade (if it comes back), sailing, and barter.  The bonus is that any random lifeskills I do for quests, etc on my main or any other character add to the total.

I dislike the change for the same reason you do. I think it made sense to do something like training as acct wide because people wanted that and having sprint is nice, but all skills? However, since it's already gone live, it's over.

Also, my silver is about the same, but I am way closer to 7000 for the 10% drop. My life fame went up like 1000. I think I might be able to get over 7000 with a couple more 60s.

For those of you missing my point.  Before this change my character's were unique.  Most players seem to be happy to play as generic Bob who gets God mode on day one.  I left an online game where I could play in God mode.  It gets boring very fast, because you are no longer challenged to DO something.  Playing a game should be a challenge.   For example; hunting as a beginner level takes more shots to kill an elk. Unless you are decked out in battle gear, bears are far from simple.  But now I can send my level 1 new character off to O'dyllita to kill wolves like they are Superman from Krypton.

I know there is little point to ranting about this now.  What PA did was save themselves some database room by placing this on the account and deleted the information from all the individual characters.  They may also hope players, such as myself, will buy new accounts to make a new families.  That is not going to happen.  The company (not just PA) is always going to make changes to increase population, cut cost, and make money.  If you are pleased with these changes, have fun, I am simply letting everyone know why I am unhappy about this change.

By the way, I was very surprised to see 50/50 on the votes ( on May 8th). I suspected it would be mostly negitive votes about my point of view.

Thanks

Yeah, but those have been gone for a long time now.   0-60 is basically 1 day now.  Nobody is spending days grinding Khurutos or Mansha Forest.  At most it's like 30 minutes at those zones now (if you're not getting your toon power leveled)

None of this is true.
