Not familiar with Runescape's system...

Anyway, I had to turn the music back on.  Going three months with no music at all is tormentous and I'm doing my best to enjoy what I can, and suffer the atrocious out of place songs when they appear.  Its about 50% of the time.  Also, hearing good music played when it shouldn't is hurtful to the ears and jarrs the soul.  The O'dyllita Theme, as well as all the BDO themesongs: AWESOME!  But themesongs CANNOT be played as background music: it's too involved and is not region specific.  It's like playing the Star Wars theme on the planet Hoth.  Good song, but no relation to the environment.  So, hearing the O'dyllita theme play as I'm crossing the Mountain of Division........ cool..... but no.....

And as soon as a good song starts playing.... it fades and another plays....

YOU CAN'T SWITCH TRACKS IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, unless there is REASON to.  Not because it's been programmed to switch songs every five seconds just because.

The music was once perfect.  It can be again!

Dear Developers, I beg you, make it so!

And there I was mining for ore in Balenos, when I heard a song from out of nowhere: A Valencian tune.  Kinda cool, but my immediate thought was: NO.  This is a Middle Eastern tune being played in an area of a Mediterranean culture.  It does NOT fit the vibe.  The clash is jarring, and just downright wrong.  It hurts the gaming experience.  PERIOD.  And then, coming upon the area when the Turkey Boss Targargo is now spawning on Ehwaz Hill, the music suddenly shifts to an intense battle style music from out of nowhere.  I suppose it is supposed to fit the boss battle that is now taking place then for these couple weeks, and I do disagree with having boss music perpetually playing where bosses can spawn, (which was going on in the soundtrack pre-April) for again, it does not fit the vibe of the place.  The original music: 99% spot on.  The music now: 30%, which is a conservative estimate.  Also, this random music playing in towns...... Ugh.  It just makes me hate the tunes that butt in.  The town songs are all amazing, and I loved it when they continuously played.  I was amazed that I never got tired of any of those songs, something that doesn't normally happen to me.  The town song in this game capture their spirit perfectly.  WOW.  Great job, PA!  The music in this game.... WOW.

Then you guys decided to punish me, and other players who love this game.  Still wondering: What the heck did we do? I buy pearls regularly.  I love the game!  All I ask is that you restore the old soundtrack to us.  Create a toggle to allow players to play the music as it is playing now, or switch back to the pre-April 13, 2022 soundtrack.  That way, you win, and we win.  And my torment can end.

Thanks a lot!

PS.  The gathering buff with Agris Fever: great idea!  Thumbs up!  I like it!

The music is so random. Grinding desert fogans and elvia fogans is awful, the music is changing every few seconds. Kutums old battle music can be heard in calpheon. Upper sycraia plays music from serendia, odylitta, crow's nest and other regions. Mediah grind spots are full of valencia music. You ruined the complete atmosphere of the game. Gives us our beloved music back.

Ouch.  That's not even supposed to happen with the new music scheme.  Sounds broken, not even by design.

The impression that I've got since the change is that they are able to tweak how it operates pretty fluidly, not even needing to wait for weekly maintenance.  The track selection in some areas seems to have drifted since then.  So assuming they have the knobs, they can turn some things back.

The problem is from what was displayed at the ball where this change was announced.  The zones are much larger / less specific now.  So even if they tried to they couldn't get the the old specificity back with the new knobs.  They would need to reinstate the prior zones.  And I suspect that those zones are there for a different reason, and that the music change was an unavoidable side effect.  Becuase it would be so noticeable, they went with a positive spin "we meant to do this, this is what you asked for".

All just speculation, of course.

Yeah, well, they sure did a great job breaking it.  I really wish they would have done a poll to see IF this was something anyone really wanted.  And, if the original zones were defined, they could be redefined.  Also, it seems they have no ear for what it fitting music for an area, and situation and what isn't.  I'll say this:

Kzarka's Shrine has specific music for it.  Set the vibe perfectly.  Now all I hear is Al Rhundi and Muskan.  What the heck.  And fighting Nightmarish Kzarka just now.... what's with the stupid circus music playing?  Kzarka's battle theme fits him perfectly.  I had to turn off the music mid-battle, it hurt so bad......

This random stuff is nonsense.  I get that they probably broke the system so bad it can't be redone.  Well, for Pete's sake, do SOMETHING to at least get some order re-established and cut the random stuff out!!!

Let the city and town tracks repeat again.  And let only one song play per zone.  Bring the night music back!  Bring the battle music back!  Enough with the dead air between songs in places.   Ugh.  What a nightmare.  And its been going on so long.......

Developers, you CAN fix this.  You made something beautiful before.  You can do it again.  I believe in you guys.  This game is great.  Make it better!!!!

Peace

I at least want the option to use the classic music system. I was also disappointed to find that mount music was only added back in the sense of it being in the catalog. Not that we’d have unique music when riding. In general I don’t understand why they made these changes. The classic music system with mount music while riding was good! I also miss the change of music between day and night...

Music creates the mood.  The day/night change: an amazing idea.  So sad that it was scrapped.  Those tracks, and there were a lot of them, no longer exist in game.  They purged half of Mediah's music from the game and replaced it with stuff that does not fit its culture.  Half the time, Valencia music plays there.  Mediah was robbed of it's cultural identity.  Some tracks no longer play and are gone from the game entirely.  They told us that music lovers would get ear-candy.  Well, this music lover got a load of ear-poison that is burning through his brain.  Playing this game that I love so much, hurts 50% of the time.

I got punished for loving this game. :(

I guess some people... and I have read the post from one person in a hundred, got what they wanted.  And as I look around the wasted musicscape that is now BDO's soundtrack, I wonder..... at what cost....

Another issue is when there is silence. Right now I am riding from Valencia to Heidel and there are quite a few areas where the music dies and does not play for up to a minute... oh, and now as I leave Altinova a BDO themesong starts playing. I groan and mute the music!

I appreciate that with new questline content the original philosophy of music design is implemented. In the Magnus there are a few tracks all closely related and not switching constantly. It is consistent, evokes a particular feel for the zone, and is just a good theme! The the tracks loop, which maintain this feel.

Please do return to the earlier music design.

Yeah, the theme they play in Mediah... I love it, but I hate it for destroying the vibe!  Mediah is a Middle Eastern culture, not a Western Sports channel!  And then they base other tunes off that theme.... kinda make it a sappy, slow Latin version of the tune.... but guess what?  Season Plus Theme is NOT Mediah's theme!  I don't know who thought it was a good idea to replresent Mediah's culture this way, but even though it was wrecked by the Three Days of Darkness, Mediah STILL HAS A CULTURE!!!  Hispanic/Middle East!  Not Modern Western!  MUSIC MATTERS!  Immersion is a wonderful thing, and the music right now, 50% of the time, doesn't let that happen.

Sorry, but I can't help but rant again.....

So, I am usually fighting in Dreighan, where at least the music being shuffled around doesn't hurt so bad.  As I'm battling in the Sherekhan Necropolis, I actually don't mind the tunes, and I'm even treated to Valencian battle tunes (some sarcasm).  I think the battle song was from the Basilisk Den, which means it doesn't play there anymore.  Still nice song, but the cultural context is gone.  Then I teleported to my Shai, farming in Balenos, and it started playing the Remastered Theme.  Nice song.  No cultural context, and ruined the vibe.  Themesongs DO NOT belong in-game.  Sorry.  They don't.  In-game bgm is supposed to be relevant to what's going on in the game.  Theme music is supposed to capture the spirit of the overall game.  These two things do not coincide, and therefore a musical dilemma is created.  Those that appreciate game immersion are auditorally assaulted and are made frustrated.  The only themesong I really don't mind showing up is the O'dyllita themesong, just because it is my favorite of the themes, but it is still jarring at times.  When I first came to O'dyllita, I was graced to hear this track:

Black Desert Online OST - O'dyllita Border 1 - YouTube

I WAS AMAZED.  The landscape on the Mountain of Division, the buidings that came into view... THIS SONG...... It was a perfect combination.  I was blown away.  If that song hadn't been playing, I would have been like, Meh, this place is cool.  Let's keep going.  But when that song played, I was drawn into the place: I had to explore.  I WAS IMMERSED.  Hey, PA, you won't quickly lose deeply immersed players easily.  Just sayin'.

When I later introduced my siblings to this area, I led them on this same path, so that they too could share this magical experience.

Then, April 13th came.  The worst day of the year for me, so far.

Now, more than 50% of the time, I'll hear the O'dyllita theme play here.  What used to be ear candy is now ear poison.  The themesong doesn't have the same magic.  BECAUSE IT WASN"T WRITTEN TO REFLECT A PLACE OR SITUATION.  It was written to encompass the O'dyllita expansion as a whole.  It ROCKED that!  As an in-game tune...... B+, maybe?

Anyway, I hope this resonates with whoever reads this.  Music IS written for a purpose.  When that purpose is not present, confusion, or conflict can and usually will arise.

Bleh.  PA, you did not feed us ear-candy.  Here's an idea: put the game themesongs in the Marni Wave.  Restore the music to as it was.  Maybe then I'll get the Marni Wave.  So far, I have seen no reason to get it.  My line of reasoning: why would I listen to anything else other than the music that fits in the game so well?  Well,... nothing really fits now.

Please reset.

Thanks!
