Please finally enable Linux support. Apparently it was there before the new anticheat was added. The anticheat has linux support with other games like elden ring and apparently just needs to be enabled by the devs. Can we please get that?

My husband plays several games on Steam with Linux OS.  The company probably doesn't think it is "worth it" to add the one needed and switch on EAC in the Steam library.  Also it has nothing to do with Easy Anti Cheat, as there is a Linux version for it as well.   They have no excuses, don't allow them to use EAC as their escape hatch.   The Steam Deck is a portable device that plays the Steam games and you can add your (functionally compatible) Windows games in there as well.  He was playing Apex Legends just the other day on his account and it has EAC.  The only other option I heard about is running Windows on top Linux, which works, however you will need twice as much GPU and memory.  As my husband told a friend, you would be further ahead to just buy 2 PCs one running Linux and the other for Windows games.   I don't play BDO on console, but I have a friend who tells me the PS4 is limited and runs miles behind the PC releases.  Good luck getting the ear of a developer on this thread.

They basically need to enable linux support in the anti cheat, PA as the developers have that option. Running VMs, Dualboot or 2 systems is totally too much. Adding linux support now before steam deck gets more popular would be a logical choice.

would love to get away from windows, and BDO is the only reason im still using it..

today windows Restarted my computer for updates mid game without warning... even though i have updates on delay for a months, and update services turned of... Windows is a virus..

to top it off, when the update was done, my GPU profiles where reset and my grpu was starting to cook its self (at factory settings)

Windows = virus. Changes things without your permission and damages hardware,

Trying to move away from windows to linux myself but there are too many things that aren't supported yet without running games and apps in VM. If BDO could have linux support, it would be one more reason to make the jump.

I agree 100% with Snoods, Windows is a virus or more specifically, smart spyware. I just received my new nvme drive, might actually install ubuntu on it. ;D

I literally just use windows (in a VM) for this, and I don't play nearly as much because of the pain of running it. Please just enable EAC linux support and let the community deal with the rest. You don't have to officially support linux, just don't punish those who do (just look at big who did it, like Apex, Elden Ring, Fall Guys, etc...). Here are Valve's instructions on how to do it:

  1. Go into the SDK Configuration settings menu on the EAC partner site and enable Linux as a client platform.
  2. Go into the Client Module Releases menu on the EAC partner site, choose the Unix platform, and activate a module. If you cannot find the Linux module in the status dashboards, please contact EAC support.
  3. Once that's done, download the EAC SDK and find the Linux library (\Client\Assets\Plugins\x86_64\libeasyanticheat.so) for the SDK version integrated with your game, rename it to easyanticheat_x64.so, and add it to your depot next to the Windows library (EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll).
  4. Lastly, on the Steamworks site, publish a new build of your game containing the new depot contents. (You don't have to make any changes to the game executable, just include the new files in the depot contents.)

I have Windows 10 still.  I refuse to ever move into Windows 11, PA will lose me as a valued customer when they make that a requirement.   I read somewhere, Microsoft now requires use of camera and microphone... can it be more obvious they want this to spy on us?!  Bad enough they are data mining my behaviors,  do they really need to watch me taking a shower or when I walk through my living room?

@Snoods my husband says Windows is very close to a virus but more like malware OS.  He set my Windows 10 up here with debloat scripts you can use them legit to remove unwanted stuff like Cortana and such.  You can search "Windows 10 debloat" for more information.  All updates are set to manual and I have a program called Sledge Hammer that makes they stay that way.  Some day with gaming moving toward Linux OS, the hackers will end up shifting their gaze away from Windows and toward Linux.  However I trust Linux will handle the security much better.

Have fun!

...Microsoft now requires use of camera and microphone...

...for Windows 11.

Huh - https://www.reviewgeek.com/90185/microsoft-requires-all-windows-11-laptops-to-have-a-webcam-starting-in-2023/

But that doesn't equate to spying.  On the other hand, given the opportunity...

It wouldn't be Microsoft to abuse that.  Far more likely to be other "trusted" entities. Because again, opportunity.

This is off-topic though. We don't need to justify our OS choices to anyone.
