This! Both need to be improved but especially this! Trading got the shaft like slicing did in swtor.

I am not interested in bartering that much, but it definitely needs to be kept updated.

It is one of the major content in the game. We definitely do not want to let bartering make more money than active grinding, but it needs to make some reasonable profit as a semi-afk/active work with not that much effort put into it (not counting building the carrack).

An interesting thought would be to put some timers into each barter route. If you can complete the runs in some specific time, you can benefit from some bonus profit. If you exceed the time limit you will get the standard reward. This could give players a choice of bartering in the standard semi-afk way or rather doing it actively and getting some reasonable reward as a bonus.

Why not? Why do you want everyone to play the same? A large percentage of bdo players don't want to grind mobs, they prefer life skill. In any good mmo life skill is on par with mob grind.

And bdo is dying precisely because 99% of the content is not profitable.

Examples of consequences of no profit from life skills:

You can't raise the max price of black stones fragmets or shards because it will automatically increase the price of concentrated gems, and this in turn will make the cost of high lvl manos cloths too high, i.e. no one will want to produce them for sale since their enchant will be more expensive than the profit from the sale.

Please for the love of god buff these ridiculous "special" barters pretty please with a cherry on top.

When I can get more coins from a single Margoria trade, there is a problem...
Specially when you get these kind of shit trades 3 times in a row, while everyone else around you posts screenshots of 1800-2000 coin trades...

Most people won't post terrible "special" barter's like you did, and I agree, Special Barter's like this shouldn't even exist. It's like social media, only posting the highlights.

The time cost of doing this outweighs the benefit, and skipping is supposedly a penalty? I'm not sure if what I heard was tinfoil, I still do my Specials regardless just so I don't get secretly penalized from the game for skipping them.

No clue what you're talking about with skipping being a penalty. You just skip the special and your count starts over, same as if you went and did it.

The basic problem with such special barter is that the PA thinks that trading 2 lvl3 for 200 coins is a great deal, and it is not.

2 lvl3 = 4 lvl4 = 4 lvl5 and 4 lvl5 give us eg. 653 coins:

Bartering is one of the lifeskills I've been wanting to get into but have not dove in because of how low the silver rewards are. I'm at a point now in my BDO life that all my upgrades are 150 billion or more.

I agree 100% that they need to up the prices of the items already on the bartering tables.

The fun thing to see would be make each Dev have to build and upgrade one ship.  I think you would see a lot of improvements if they had to endure the process of reaching a high barter count when starting from scratch.  I could take the stance of I did it so why should it be easy for anyone new who wants to enjoy ocean content but unless more folks explore the ocean content i fear we will not see much in the way of updates.  The more players that use a given content lend to it's being updated and expanded for fear of the business loosing its customers.

Its hard to stay positive when you know your on the short end of the stick. I feel like the boat skins and even the Carrack overlay must not have made them enough money to care about those of us who enjoy the sea .
