Uhm... what about Wagon trading? It hasn't been fixed for decades! Yeah... I completely understand that bartering needs improvement. But please! What about Wagon Trading?

God yes, wagon trading is at an abysmal place.

Perhaps removing the reset cap and cooldown would make this lifeskill competative with more modern money makers. Also sailor weight/ration consumption rates should be addressed due to the increased cabin capacities. the amount of rations required now eats into the bartering profits.

Since the day I finished building my Carrack with +10 green gear, I have never used it again.
The humorous joke of making 800m-1b/day and being bottlenecked to parlay is completly outdated. Why invest months in building your Carrack and stockpiling barter materials when any out-of-season player with just a week of investment can outfarm you in a couple of hours? Bartering desperately needs a significant buff, not only in terms of parlay, but also in comparison to spot farming.

idk about being comparable since bartering requires less than 10% of the effort of grinding, but it def needs more than the planned buffs

Not only that, it's behind a paywall.   1/3 of your barter refresh requires value pack.

requires less than 10% of the effort of grinding

How fast will you build a carrack to start with stable 1bil/day barter routes?

around 4 months if you 100% dedicated to dailies, doing around 8k barters and you super active.

How fast will you start grind orcs and make over 1.5bil/2hours in orcs?
1st day, lvl 60 on a season.
2nd day, some trash spots grinding, Rifts and finish full PEN tuvala.

3rd you, can pretty much start grinding orcs and outfarm any barter dude.
If you 100% out of box newbie, with 0 knowlage in BDO, this may take few weeks but still its not months.

So i have no idea how this is less than 10% of the efforts of grinding.

you use "100% dedicated" to dailies as if it means anything when in reality nowadays the fastest way which is simultaneously the easiest way is to afk on someone elses boat.

another myth is that you need carrack to do 1b/day. while carrack makes it faster due to weight limit, it has never ever been the gate or even a determinate on silver/day. it has always been amount of barter routes you got and nothing else.

there is nothing active about bartering and you quite literally cannot be fully active while bartering due to most of it being just moving from 1 point to another and the most active thing you can being manually pointing ur camera to the direction. it's a semi active activity at best

bartering is less than 10% effort compared to even a rmb space valk moving with a wheel because at least they have to pay attention to the game. the vast majority of majority is autopathing to an island and then anchoring and do ur barter then autopath to another while playing another game. the effort levels required between the 2 activities are not even remotely close

Your personal opinion seems to be biased against bartering.
It's important to note that these so-called "afk dailies" you mentioned require monitoring sailing discord for hours, sometimes resulting in missed opportunities. Even when done solo, it takes a significant amount of time and effort as a strong ship required.

While bartering does involve moving from point A to B, making it a semi-active activity, it is capped at 1bil/day , which is considered a joke in the current standard of 2023. If you compare it to grinding, of course grinding is more rewarding, as it should be. However, you seem to forget that other lifeskills, such as cooking, can earn up to 1.1-1.3 bil/hour without leaving your residence and utilizing maids for resupply.
These other lifeskills are even less than 2% effort (by your measures ), but they are not capped at 1 bill/day.

Any activity, regardless of its level of engagement, should not be artificially limited, and people should be rewarded according to the time/efforts invest. In this regard, active(very rewarding)>semi active(rewarding)>afk(ok'ish rewarding)

i would love to have sea content that can be done actively and is rewarding at the same time.

unlike grinding with certain classes, bartering requires planing and preperation. i wouldnt mind additional active elements to "justify" higher profits.

it's not my personal opinion here that's the problem. the problem is your thinking that bartering should reward you an amount "in comparison to spot farming". your statement shows that you understand this but you choose to ignore it due to your own personal bias. again im all for buffing bartering, just not to an amount that you all seem to want it.

"monitoring sailing discord for hours" is a false narrative. sailies runners are generally consistent with what time of day they run their sailies. "going solo" is a false comparison as there is an easier and faster way and making it harder for yourself is not a point of comparison. there's a reason we compare to valk at centaurs with rmb space rather than a kuno trying to grind any spot. also it's not like you just sit around doing nothing while waiting for a @Sailing dailies. also just to similarize this point- you are trying to say that you sitting around waiting for a discord ping is considered "reasonable amount of effort" when doing a comparison to actively grinding.

the comparison to grinding wasn't made by me- it was made by you. "Bartering desperately needs a significant buff, not only in terms of parlay, but also in comparison to spot farming." even then you are forgetting that cooking, the lifeskill in question, is gated by cooking mats. to reasonaly sustain cooking you cant just rely on farms/nodes. if you dont gather them yourself (an active activity) then you have to buy them (cuts into profit as well) it was only recently that meat became readily available in central market, while other bottlenecks required for basically every meal is still preordered, at least over in NA.

and again, i did say in my initial post that it did deserve a buff more than the one stated in the ball, but just not equal to spot farming which you think it should get.

"Any activity, regardless of its level of engagement, should not be artificially limited, and people should be rewarded according to the time/efforts invest. In this regard, active(very rewarding)>semi active(rewarding)>afk(ok'ish rewarding)"

never said anything about wanting to keep it artifically limited, and the last part of this statement is exactly what i have been trying to say, except in the slider bartering is closer to afk than semi active, being a mostly semi afk activity
