so i am confused once again in this game. so i was killing mobs in the manshaum forest area and something called a 'greater marni stone' drops (i think that was the name of it). so i look in my inventory and there is a stone that to be filled needs 60,000 kills. yes you read that correct 60,000 kills. so i thought well this is pretty crazy. so a few minutes later i check again to see if it is even filling up - and it is gone. anybody have any ideas? ty as always for info
It changes into a blue icon once you kill 1 mob with it in your inventory and stays that way until it turns red at 60k kills.
They are rather pointless tbh but they count as a minor treasure item and theres +1 energy point once you have all of them (technically you need all but 1 now when they added 1 more knowledge to the same category but not rly important for this example).
The greater marni stones are somewhat useful when they're for a zone where you grind a ton (e.g. you might actually fill one multiple times for a zone that contains an infinite potion piece or an archaelogist map piece), since then you get an accessory out of the deal instead of nothing (though if you haven't hit level 62 yet, it's probably better to just use a normal marni stone). However, the primary benefit from getting the greater marni stones is that they give you knowledge in the "Adventure Journal -> Calpheon Journal -> Marni's Great Discovery" category, and that category gives you +1 max energy. So, collecting them helps both your fame and your energy. You can also sell them for a some silver if you don't want to bother filling them (or if you get extras, since unlike normal marni stones, they don't go away when you turn them in; they just get reset).
I don't know why it would have disappeared from your inventory, but I would guess that Korvgubben's suggestion that you missed it because it changed color is correct.

Just adding to Quelnar's comment that you don't need to fill the stone to get the knowledge, you just need to acquire it.
In the current economy, the rewards are not that great for the effort, but if you are grinding for rare drops, it's one way to do two things at once to help maintain some of your sanity.
thanks all for the info. i am glad that even if i don't manage to fill it that i have got some knowledge for acquiring it. more energy is always nice.
