Welp It has Happened again, I got this screenshot from someone Bragging they did it to this Guild, I covered part of the name as well Paint.exe is only so good
This is Unfortunate, as yes he took the Hekeru and Stalker Items, but he took many other items shown in this post.

The GM said they were only in the guild less than 30 mins.
So tell me Pearl Abyss, how is this fair?

Replaced the Image of the Character so another commentor would not be upset, and this imagfe was sent to me from the Guild Leader who he spent 11 minutes in the Guild, raided the vault, left a message on "Message of the day" and left

I'm just stopping by here on a tip from some friends of the guild that were griefed in this screenshot. I'd like to point out that the user in question that has been taking advantage of this current "apprentice storage withdrawal and deletion" problem ingame has been openly harassing and attempting to defame Meowlencia for a few weeks now, but they have been stealing from guilds like this for a very long time. This recent trend of guild storage thefts followed by that highlighted Message of the Day is evidence of a traceable and ongoing pattern of that harassment, and users probably shouldn't be able to use the Message of the Day system like that if they are permanently chatbanned. Meowlencia did not send this user to do anything that they are doing, but the user keeps saying this to their victims when they "raid banks" because they have a personal vendetta against Meowlencia for banning them prior to this recent run of thefts.

It seems like this person is clearly demonstrating that they believe that the guilds of complete strangers should have to compensate them through this pattern of griefing because they are upset about being banned before they were allowed to take what they felt they were owed. It's entirely possible that this user was not warned that their ban was impending so that Meowlencia's own storage could not be raided in turn, because this problem with the storage system has been a known issue for a long time by many guilds, and that user was a known perpetrator of this type of theft. If Guild Masters were able to set custom permissions for storage withdrawals on a per-item or per-tier basis, and universal member permissions were Deposit-Only by default, It's entirely possible that users with a known record of storage theft would be able to thrive in game without access to the ability to exploit their future guilds' resources in this way.

That user's opinion about forcing strangers to pay them what they feel they are owed as severance is in spite of the fact that an ingame severance fee for kicking users with active contracts out of guilds already exists, and is obviously paid whenever they are kicked from a guild. If that user believes that the severance fees from guild bans are inadequate, they should consider making a feedback post of their own about guild severances to see if it gains traction, rather than trying to make severance issues a discussion topic here on a post about storage theft. As far as I can tell, this is a post about a problem with the game system that enables outright theft and destruction of guild resources from users that are acting in bad faith within the guilds that they join as Apprentices, so anything not pertaining to the victims of storage theft and possible solutions to that problem are largely irrelevant.

So as additional context for this problem I am a player that has been subjected to the problems with this storage mechanic secondhand because it is being used for ongoing harassment of my guild, rather than as a subject of the outright theft. I would like everyone to consider that if only Officers could withdraw items and guild items were internally available for player-to-player trade within guild rosters, Officers could distribute items that non-officers may need for personal crafting on an individual basis. Guild Masters could simply not provide the Officer role to users that are untrustworthy. Fully custom storage permissions would also prevent this from being a problem, because rather than non-siege guilds primarily using the role as a way to let users that play during off-hours claim their own guild missions, and having to take the risk of theft, they could provide users with Officer to let them claim guild missions without explicitly allowing them to manage the guild's storage.

If Apprentices had no withdrawal permissions during their trial period, this particular form of harassment and griefing would have a minimum of an 8 day turnover. There are a great deal of viable solutions to this problem. Currently, however, this game mechanic is being exploited by single users that are able to grief various guilds roughly every two days using the standard guild cooldown period. Not only would revoking withdrawal permissions from Apprentice guild members dramatically reduce the rate at which this problem occurs and help create fewer victims of this type of theft, any solution beyond "doing nothing about it" would also actively allow guilds to communicate with each other when these thefts occur, and would provide substantial relief to players presently being defamed and harassed by the user exhibiting this behavior.

Hi. Are you seriously trying to justify the stealing there?

A stealer stole, that's all that matters. Why this long story?

I fully support the idea of creating a status that doesn't allow automatically to pick into the storage! At least it should be possible after a trial only! And in the best case, that should be selectionable, so if we already know a player that just joined the guild, we can give him full access to the gs. It just shouldn't be by default!

Nooo... I think what they're saying is that the thief is using being booted from a guild as an excuse to steal from random guilds.  I did not read it as promoting stealing, I read it as why this individual seems to think it's okay to steal, as this is seems to be the thief's origin story if you will.  And I totally agree that there are many ways to implement change so this won't happen in the future!  C'mon PA, please do something.

We know it wasn't anyone from Meow, never thought that for a minute.
Agree that there are many options for PA to use to make this issure a moot point.  Let's hope this helps highlight that to PA and help them see this is a problem that needs to be dealt with and could be easily fixed.
