Let's brainstorm overhauling the central market together

The central market has a lot to be desired for. The system put in place is fine to prevent a certain level of abuse and having a floor and ceiling for prices prevents the market from going out of control. However, there are a ton of issues regarding this entire system and the user interface is atrocious.

I'm sure many of you have already seen my [concept] threads and I'm really eager to tackle the central market in a smiliar fashion. New sortby dropdowns, an ehnanced tracking system, wishlists maybe, just whatever you guys think would work for a new central market overhaul.

But it's not just the overhaul of the UI that needs to happen, it's also how prices are considered. Someone who crafts a chair will probably lose money for crafting said chair because the end result of the chair is worth less than the materials to create it. This should never, ever be the case.

This thread is reserved specifically as a foundation to help brainstorm how the central market can improve. It doesn't matter if your idea is to move a button to the left of something or you want to go into full economics 101. The purpose is to hopefully come up with something we can all enjoy.

For starters, remove the ridiculous RNG from the marketplace. First in, first out should be the common sense here. (In terms of same price PO's or offers)
This was mainly painful during the Mythical Feather crisis where 500 horse trainers were trying to get them and some of them were laughing getting 10 pieces per day, while others sat there an entire week without seeing a single one.

^ You make an excellent point.

RNG is everywhere and can be discouraging when placing a Pre-order. First come first serve is nice but RNG also has a nice element to it when you're 1-millionth in line. What if they remove pre-orders that are older than a month? This could work in tandem with your proposed idea. They would have to have a separate interface for "Resigned Orders" or whatever but at least people who actively play the game could stand a chance in getting their PO fulfilled. Like there are VPs with a lot of PO but how many players are actively playing with that PO? What about Garmoth's heart? Oh boy I feel like I opened up another can of worms with that one item alone. lol I don't disagree entirely with removing RNG but I also don't agree wholeheartingly with it either. It's something to ponder at least.

PS for those downvoting and leaving; instead of downvoting people you disagree with, I would encourage you all to quote and/or respond with your rebutal. That way we can proceed to have a constructive thread.

I agree that there should be some RNG, otherwise no one would get in on something with 200 preorders.  And yeah, having some history with the preorder would be nice, or perhaps preorders could be erased from some players gone for more than a month or so.  You snooze, you lose.  PA is very generous with returning players, but the market should be more weighted towards active players.  And yes, all crafted items that aren't mass produced in such a way that you get more product from materials used, (I do love these kind of miracles) should have their value at least equal to the value of materials used to produce the item.  Now, TETing a yellow/red grade weapon will always make you sell for less, because these items are made by blood, sweat and tears.  The generous souls making these items will always have to sell these out of charity, otherwise no one could buy PEN Blackstar for less than 300 billion or so, given all the crons and mem. frags. and failstacks needed, or the value of god-like luck.  I'm glad there is a price range, I'm glad it changes with the times, but it would be nice if there was at least one crew member of their team constantly overlooking the market and pitching ideas/concerns to the Devs.

Add back the track items function from the old market would be nice, getting pen blackstar by constantly watching the market is painful same with other items

when selling something but cant list cuz u already selling it change to just allow to re place order relist 

e.g...  u are selling 9k vinegar and u forgot now u want to list 1k vinegar but get system messege stating order already placed error  remove the error and allow to relist so the player would be able to list 10k vinegar
