Most Improved Game of 2022?

When I look back at 2022, the year 2020 looks awesome by comparison.

The art is worse that it was back then.  Distant details are gone.  Everyone sees this, people bring it up and nothing is done.

Animations are worse off.  All our characters walk like zombies.

The music has no relevance to the area or situation half the time.

Due to power creep, end game gear is just as inaccessable as it's always been.  However, for a forever game, this must be the case, which is a good thing.  Silver is easier to get, but nothing has changed.  That's ok.

New areas are here, but no one really "lives" there.  They are too difficult or bugged for most players, so most players are still in their original/beginning areas.

There's no real reward to exploring the world.  Chest rewards, secret caves, etc., are pretty much worthless.  It's a beautiful world, but why waste time hanging out in Arehaza, or Crioville, or Eilton?

I can't say much concerning PvP as I do not engage in it.  I hope it's gotten better.  PA seems to focus on it a lot lately.  But, whatever changes they make for its sake sometimes makes things worse for other players.  Like crystal presets.  I hope it's a work in progress.

The storylines have undergone a little improvement, but has the game changed for the better?  Cron Castle isn't really a fun grindzone anymore, due to the top level being removed and the soliders being clumped in two spots.  Port Ratt is going to be replaced by a bland, Velia throwback.  Geography is being altered, which should not be done.

By all means, things should be added, but NOTHING should be taken away.  No one should EVER say: "There used to be this place..." or "They used to do this...."  Nothing should be taken from the game.

Class balance: Doesn't exist.  Never has.  That's ok...ish... Too bad some classes lose useful skills that make people sad that they can't love their favorite characters as they once did.  Other classes get cool new tricks.  Woo hoo.  Still, it's best not to promise people awesome things, by letting them invest in a great character only to have them altered, weakened, and even lose skills.

Shai Rights: work in progress.

Certain aspects have not been touched in years, like sailing.  Except we can get tiny bits of exp sailing around the sea now.  Well, most of us have better things to do...

Lifeskilling has been buffed.  Yes, PA is trying on this aspect.  It's a steady work in progress!

PA does listen to certain issues, but it seems to be at their convenience.  Some players have issues that are legit, but are never addressed.  Thanks, Adventurer Feedback Board.

Still, some issues are addressed right away, like the Shai music volume problem.  But everyone's issues are important, and could at least be addressed.  "Yes, we see you have an issue with this, but it's not important to us.  Thanks for playing and do keep on playing!"  Actions and inactions speak volumes.

Edit: I think the Lightstone and Artifact system was implemented this year.  These are very useful, and were a major improvement, especially with the Lightstones that allow for a full time 300% EXP boost.  This makes leveling new characters much faster, and allows us to get the new characters out into the action sooner.  Time is a limited commodity after all, and one wants to make the most of it.  This was indeed a big improvement.  Kudos!

Tuvala materials are now easier to find due to lifeskilling in Season servers, and upgrading Tuvala gear is a bit easier too.  Naru gear conversion to Tuvala is very simple.  These make gameplay very easy getting a Season character into the real action must faster.  Big improvement.

But the art and the fine details that make this a pleasent ride at ALL times?  Several steps back this year, in my opinion.

Sure, PA updates this game weekly.  That is AWESOME.  But they seem to be following the wretched dark side of capitalist philosophy: Get the most out of the least effort possible.  Artistic standards have been lowered over this past year.  I hate it, and it saddens me deeply.  What will 2023 bring?

I hope it's a philosophical change, one that reverses this artistic atrophy that has infected this game.

Thanks for a wonderful game, PA.  I really love this game.  Most improved?  I don't really play other games other than SWTOR, so I can't really tell.  Other games must be rather "meh" this past year, because I'm really trying to see how this game has improved with all the glaring issues that are creeping up.

If I'm still playing at the end of this year, I hope to see Black Desert Online winning both the Most Improved MMO and the Best MMO awards.

Let's get started now, PA.  I believe we have a bit of work to do.  You did some experimenting with things these past couple years  and some of them look like Marni's creatures.  Let's undo some damage and get this game back on track and headed towards earning those awards!

Thanks again for a great game!

Peace

It should be most improved an most degraded, as graphics have gone for the worst , yes QoL has gotten better but alot of things are either neglected or made for the worse. Im not exactly sure it can be called most improved knowing somethings going backwards :/ , yes things have improved but idk this graphics issue and some other things that have been made worse by PA  just doesnt feel like it should have most improved game

the only thing that has improved is the amount of GPU resources needed being higher for lower quality unless more is not good if thats the case then its just degraded and scuffed
grinding spots have also improved but thats probably because the game has like 10% of the amount of players it had in 2020-2021

I would argue though Black Desert is more improved now then they were in the past and that they are more transparent about development then most game studios with the exeption of Digital Extremes which provides weekly developer updates demoing new stuff in a live stream. I just wish Pearl Abyss would choose something and stick to it instead of doing what they did in the 2021 heidel ball where a bunch of stuff was announced then tossed out a week later. The Inconsistancy of Pearl Abyss being able to make a decision announce it and stick to it is why the game lost players.
