Title: Please introduce a new perma ship and rename the Galleon
Family Name: Asamur
Region (NA/EU): EU
I would love for there to be a new progression for carrack. We've been stuck in time for almost 3 years (shiro gear release). But I'll just remember one detail.
"Heidel Ball 2021"
"A new ship will be arriving “soon” and is officially called the “Epheria Dreadnaught”. The new ship will take more than effort alone to obtain."
Look how long we've been waiting to have a boat that ALREADY EXISTS IN THE GAME as an NPC. We had several announcements of "we are in development" for in the end they only allow or not if you access a ship that has probably been in the game since the launch of the great ocean. I don't know how relevant we are to the game for them to care to do something right (just look at what happened, we have a RNG ship for the real adventurers who like and do the content and also a FIXED reward FOR SIEGE WAR WINNERS, LUL )
Again, I agree that we should have one or more progressions for the current "end" (carrack with shiro gear). But I'll be honest that after years of waiting and seeing what they did with "Epheria's Star", my hopes are very low that they will care about this content the way or minimally as it should be.
PS: Epheria Dreadnaught and Epheria's Star is the samething.
The whole reason they stated that the Epheria Star won't be permanent ownership is because it's 'so big' and boats already get stuck. Their words, not mine and I can't say I've gotten stuck with my carrack other than whatever spaghetti code they have going near wharfs.
As much as I would love a new ship, considering how awful bartering and sailing is, I'd rather they focus fixing that rather than putting fool's gold on top of a pile of steaming excrement.
Who cares about a new ship since most players don't have blue gear on carrack because its grind is masochism with the current sailing system.

That whole excuse about not being permanent because it's "big" is bullshit. They took an existing model in the game and made a "resize" making it totally disproportionate, only to say "bla bla bla so big bla bla bla" at the end.
Here the true size of the ship, it is practically the same size as a carrack, but PA preferred to make it into a giant and disproportionate meme.

Absolutely, I know it. It is huge, but not so much. For me it's cool, but doesn't make me go wow and urgently want it. It should be named Dreadnaught and we still should get a new ship, maybe not as powerful, but with more features making it really awesome, while still being believable in BDO world as well as in terms of actual ship evolution. This vessel is rather bit disappointing in almost every way, but performance.
I think they should make stuff on water more approachable so everybody have a reason to do it, not just some niche of the already niche bdo players.
I bet they are hesitant because numbers dont lie and ppl just dont like water stuff and why invest into something endgame related for practically dead content?

It's not a matter of liking the sea or not, it's simply a matter of having something well done or not. Any content will have its target audience and will never please everyone. He mainly needs to please those who like it. We have several other examples of "mismanaged" content by the company. And then it is an obvious question that people will not continue doing or even start doing something that is simply abandoned by the company.
about the numbers, I don't know if you played at the time of launch of the great ocean, but those who lived at that time saw a lot of people participating in this content itself, since launch, what just happened was that there is no new progression and the main attraction that is silver, is totally outdated for the current scenario.

Like Xhys pointed out, even when you had to personally hack down all of the logs yourself to make a sailboat or frigate, sailing was popular. The difference between then and now is the amount of silver you pulled in was comparable. Back then, it was very attractive pulling in around 800m a week from payouts, to the point that node and siege guilds complained. It wasn't uncommon for people to drop guild to join a sailing guild, grind your payout, get paid, drop guild and join a node/siege (or merc), get paid and repeat.
Well, now you can make 800m an hour and sailing/bartering still makes 800m a week. Watch how popular sailing, or any lifeskilling content, becomes when it is made comparable to combat grinding. The reason lifeskilling in general is niche is because the cost of gear far exceeds combat gear and pulls in far less silver.
On another note there is something that has always bothered me. When upgrading ships I can understand the look of the Caravel but the Galleas does not follow the lines of the Frigate to Carrack steps. Both the number of cannons and style of the ship make it look more like an overgrown sailboat. The Galleas should compare to the style and size of the ghost ships that spawn. It should look similar in size, shape, cannons, etc. Only thing needed would be to remove the scrabbed on wood look . This would follow more in line with the overall progression of Frigate to Carrack. LOL That damn sea green thing we have is ugly..
