Title: Please revamp the Trade revamp.
Family Name:
Meatballia
Region (NA/EU): EU
Suggestion/Comments: The highly anticipated Trade profession revamp arrived 2 weeks ago. It was pretty close to a Trade extinction asteroid - I mean revamp. But there are things that can improve it. There have been numerous topics on the EU/NA forums (less so, apparently on SEA and KR), but hey! the more the merrier! So here would be my list of suggestions aimed mostly at making the lifeskill more enjoyable.

1) The value of tradeable gatherables.

It's low. Insultingly so. To the point where you're better off just trashing the items on pickup or when the overweight warning pops.

Suggestion: A hike of x10 of their current value would be the bare minimum to keep'em somewhat relevant.

2) The frequency of confirmed rumors.

Simply put: it's too low. E.g: this morning, out of 6 regions I checked, 1 rumor was confirmed. That's… not good.

Suggestion: Ensure 1 rumor is always true in each territory.

3) The elephant in the room: Mysterious Giant Griefer Trade Guild.

The concept is good, the implementation is abysmal. Aside the fact that it hampers quests associated with items being out-of-stock, it compounds the problem mentioned at point (2).

Suggestion: Rework the mechanic of the guild to 1) trigger a price hike event on the out-of-stock category in the region each round the items are out-of-stock. 2) Release the items back into the trade tables when their value reaches 200%. 3) Don't force a fixed 7 days cooldown - as it's not fun, nor does it have any reason to exist.

4) Bonuses.

Distance bonus for trade items is horrible. Especially considering the fact that the whole current system pretty much requires us to travel empty for half the time. Trade mastery bonuses are complete jokes.

Suggestion. At the very least quadruple the distance bonus for npc trade items (make it worth the effort to wagon stuff around, instead of just running to the nearest trade npc). Do something similar with the mastery bonus, please. I feel no significant difference selling npc trade items as a beginner 5, compared to a master 10.

5) Mastery.

Trading is time consuming. A lot more than before, with all the preparations needed and all the empty riding inbetween trades. Yet, the trade exp gain, compared to other professions is laughable. Even worst, 1000 Stained Silks barely push a new character to professional 1, while being a lot more difficult to obtain that most other items of similar function and a lot less rewarding (considering all items offered by the Imperial Trade Seals).

Suggestion: Adjust trading exp levels, gains and the amount offered by the Silks to be more in line with the other professions.

6) Stained Silks

With the removal of Imperial Trade Seals, Stained Silks are the only token "dropped" by the activity. And the exchange options are underwhelming.

Suggestion: Add some of the exchange options from the Imperial Seals (maybe the T9 mats, maybe black magic crystals, something!) and, as mentioned above, adjust the amount of CP and profession exp obtained from exchanging this seals.

Thank you!

Bump because this is a good list of all the best feedback that's popped up amongst many varying threads. In addidion to all the high post count veterans voicing their displeasure, it's worth noting how many people are creating their first forum account or dredging up a barely-used one just to come here and say how detrimental these changes have been. It really truly hurts as a player to be excited about the prospects of a "trade revamp", only to be delivered what we got.

I honestly don't understand how or why other regions aren't as loudspoken as we are, do they not trade?

I didn't dig into all their topics, tbh, but they seem to care a whole lot less than we do about the trade problems. SEA forums are nigh-deserted (probably the playerbase there learned from the publisher - faster than we do - how much should they care about the forum). KR is mostly concerned with more hairstyles and higher variety of eye and skin colours. End game content.

Quite frankly I think the reason there was little feedback on this is active trade was dead, and is now... still dead. There are far fewer people to upset by implementing a broken system to replace a broken system, than there would be if they'd nuked a working one.

I didn't try it myself as the whole system seemed so convoluted and unrewarding from the get go it wasn't even worth engaging with (or complaining about). I think that's probably where a lot of people are at with it.

I'd 100% support making active trading with gear and mastery ~1b/h, and buffing the trade prices accordingly. More than that if it also requires significant thought, planning, and particularly risk. Heck I'd support any lifeskill that needs gear, mastery, and active attention making almost-as-much-as grinding. But let's face it, since the grind silver buffs, most lifeskills have been left to languish at 2021 income levels.

There was dev time involved. It would seem that they've spent money to nuke a barely functioning trade system out of the water.

But the worst part is this: The system as it was designed may have some holes (say, with the empty ride between capital cities and the nearest node that has some goods to trade in storage), but overall, the idea is good.

- The rumors, if they were proven true more consistently would successfully regulate the prices on good so as to very rarely have the Giant Trade Guild mechanic kick in. But PA doesn't like to give players good odds, even when those odds are pretty much required to make the system work.

- The Giant Guild mechanic would be great, if it wouldn't lead to a pointless and frustrating 7 days of locked items (I wonder if any dev thought a second about a cascading effect of it. Half a second?) but instead, force price hike rumors and, as mentioned in the OP, "sell" the items at 200% value.

- The empty rides and the lackluster trade options that you sometimes have in a trade round can be compensated with much, much higher distance  bonuses compounded with mastery ones. So as to have the option to just run Olvia to Velia and sell there, for 150M profit in 1 exchange. Few people would do it, probably, but as it is, you have no incentive to run it.

To this I can only say that Trade is not an active lifeskill that requires planning. There are no risks either. So 1B/h for afk training 4 horses is a bit much. Active lifeskills? Sure. But then again, look at hunting on season. Without mastery effects, that profession is very much off-limits to seasonals. Is it active? Yup. Is it rewarding? errr... much more so than trading, I guess. But you'd still be better off afk fishing instead, if aiming for just silver.

Time and time again, we end up at the same conclusion, devs don't seem to be playing the game they're revamping. Either that or a pvp focused dev team went on to troll the lifeskillers with these "revamps". Can only hope the next season will be hunting themed and we'll get a Fughar's Mysterious Boomstick that compensates for the lack of mastery :))

They do need to make a hunting themed season.  If not next season, then definitely Autumn, which is, IRL, hunting season.

And in regards to trading, I was thinking of getting into it, but this revamp did everything to kick that incentive out of me.  Especially ehen that time could have been spent fixing my pet peeves.

Like that dance move everyone can do but no one thinks of ever doing.... It's called the Zombie Walk.

I agree wholeheartedly. Especially the mysterious large guild is a major pain. I'm in the process of getting blue gear for a guild galley, which involves a weekly quest of delivering trade goods. Well, guess what ? Two of the required items are on the 7 day lock, costing me a whole week. It's bad enough that this quest is timegated like it is, now the new trade system adds insult to injury.

I really wanted to give the revamp a chance. 8 days or so of doing nothing else in BDO but trade. And it's bad, on almost all fronts. Insulting your time, your investment, your mastery level. And that was before the Giant Griefer Guild was introduced.

All in all, though, our feedback has 0 value for PA. And close to zero value for the moderators of our regions too, as there's literally nothing they could safely do with it that can have an impact on our trust levels or the gaming experience. This and the Adventuers Feetinback Board are just a couple of safespaces for us to howl at the moon - as long as we can keep our frustration from heavily affecting the language we use.

As for whoever designed the trade revamp with all these hurdles? I was joking (I hope), saying that it must've been someone whose only fun time in BDO is harassing afk trainers outside Heidel, or who at the very least hates trading - if not lifeskilling in general or, based on what you're saying, anything that doesn't exclusive involve mob grinding and pvp.

Crippling so many aspects of the non-combative game with just one "revamp" is a pretty darn impressive feat. Worthy of medals and trophies! Hell! A promotion too!
