Welcome to the first edition of the Grass Beetle Lore Championship!

Have you ever wanted to see how much you know about Black Desert's world, its inhabitants, history, and random anecdotes?
Have you ever wanted to pit yourself against others in a knowledge-driven competition for the number one spot?
Do you want to be crowned this year's Grass Beetle of Lore?

Then you're in the right place!

♦ What is the Grass Beetle Lore Championship?
A series of competitive weekly events and activities dealing with Black Desert's lore.
Starting today, the 23rd of April, and for 23 weeks until the 1st of October, each week a new event will be announced & held.
The winner of each event is awarded points.
The participant with the most points by the end of the championship is proclaimed the victor, and will be awarded a prize.

♦ Events & Activities
These are held once per week, every week, for 23 weeks until the last one on the 1st of October. As such, there are 23 regular events.
Each Sunday will have a regular event announced and/or take place.
The events consist of tasks that test your knowledge of Black Desert's world. They can take many forms, have a variable time duration, and may take place in-game.
Due to this, no two events will be the same.

– Regular events?
There might be additional onsite activities that give the chance to earn additional points. These are completely unscheduled.
This is done for participants that may miss a weekly event or activity, and for those always searching to earn more points.

– Onsite? Where is the championship held?
All 23 regular weekly events of the championship will be held in the Grass Beetle Lore Championship Discord server, here.
Unscheduled activities will also be announced on the same server.

♦ Points
Each event and activity rewards points.
The number of points given depends on each event or activity.
The higher the difficulty, the more points.
Those events or activities that take longer to complete and require more than a few clicks do of course reward more points as well.

Each event winner/s is announced in the Discord server once the event or activity has concluded. Depending on the event or activity, this might take from a few minutes to several days.
Regular event winners are always announced before the next regular event takes place.

Unscheduled activities also reward points, and the above said applies as well.
While participating in only a couple of unscheduled activities won't help you emerge victorious and be proclaimed the Grass Beetle of Lore, maybe enough participation in these can help you climb the ranks...?

Certain events and activities may award points to a single winning participant, while others may reward every participant, or just a few (for example, the first 5 to complete the event).
For events & activities in which all participants receive points, the number of points awarded may be the same, or may differ depending on several factors, such as the time it takes to complete the event, or the degree of success.

A leaderboard is made available for the duration of the championship to see the top-ranked participants. It is updated after the end of every event & activity.

♦ How to Join
To join the championship, all you have to do is join the championship’s Discord server to be identifiable, and participate in an event. Participants will be identified by their Discord handle.
While this competition is announced in several different locations, to keep track of all participants more easily the championship’s hub is a single Discord server wholly dedicated to the competition.

For events and activities in which the winner or winners are decided within the game, the winning participant/s will be asked inside the game to communicate their Discord handle via a whisper message. Due to this, for the duration of all events and activities that take place inside the game we recommend having your whisper / private messages enabled.

♦ Prize
No championship is complete without a good prize. In addition to being crowned the winner, the participant with the most points will also receive a real life prize!

To foster earnest participation not for the sake of obtaining the prize, but to challenge oneself on their knowledge of Black Desert’s world, the real life prize will remain unannounced for the duration of the championship.

– Why 23rd of April, and for 23 weeks?
To commemorate World Book Day, which takes place every year on the 23rd of April.
While nowadays it is easier to learn about Black Desert’s world than it was in the past, much of it still remains hidden behind obscure texts.
The one that is proclaimed the Grass Beetle of Lore will undoubtedly have needed to delve into these texts to be able to acquire as many points as they have.

Hmm.. What have we here.. The legendary Loremaster Whitrix I see..

The one piece of Grass Beetle lore I know is that the Treant Camouflage suit is made to look like a Grass Beetle (as per description in Pearl Store)

Once you know this, you cannot unsee...
