Pit of the Undying is a daily, solo Player VS Boss Arena where the difficulty and rewards increase as you complete promotion quests. After completing a questline, you start at PRI and progress through DUO, TRI, and TET up to PEN. When equipped, the Insignia also grants an additional Combat EXP Buff, which at PEN is +30%. 

At PEN, you can earn 100 Seals a day, and if you use that on the Fine Accessory Box II you can make an average of 100m a day. 

Also, your crystals won’t break if you lose a fight.

How long it takes you to get to PEN is timegated and effected by how quickly you pass your promotion tests. Don’t be stubborn and bang your head on a brick wall if you lose a fight – Read the Boss Tips section!

HOW TO GET STARTED

1. Complete a questline to get a PRI Insignia. A guide for this is near the bottom of this guide.

2. Teleport daily to Pit of the Undying to get the Daily quest from Chorpy, then talk to Kansha to start the Duel. The option to teleport is at ESC >> WAR >> Pit of the Undying. You must have completed the questline, be in a major city, and not be on Elvia to do this. If you teleport in from Elvia, no NPCs will be present. If you start it while Node War is in progress on a Node War channel, you will not be able to damage the Boss (forfeit the quest if you do this). Continuously talk to Kansha to get more Duels.

3. Complete all of the Duels to earn Crow’s Black Jewels every day, until you have enough to "qualify" for your Promotion Test, then talk to Chorpy.  The amount of Crow’s Black Jewels you get every day is Tier dependent, as is the cost of the Promotion Scroll. You need to have your Insignia equipped to get Crow’s Promotion Scroll from Chorpy. If you fail your test, talk to Chorpy.

4. Spend Seals of the Undying at Patrigio’s shop in Crow’s Nest. Profit.

NOTE: To start a Promotion fight, talk to Chorpy and use “Chat” to hand in your Crow’s Black Jewels. Then use “Quest” to accept the Promotion Test. 

2nd NOTE: If you fail a fight, talk to Kansha to restart it.

3rd NOTE: There's a "surprise" quest from Yulho when you get DUO.

4th NOTE: Trust my words, not my numbers. If you see numbers not matching up with written text, trust the text!

WHAT YOU GET WITH SEALS OF THE UNDYING

Exchange NPC: Chorpy at Pit of the Undying or Patrigio in Crow’s Nest 

NOTE: This guide assumes that you will be saving Seals to get the Fine Accessory Box II. 

2nd NOTE: If you get Item Collection Scrolls instead, you can get 2.5 a day!

INSIGNIA STATS

BOSS TIPS

NOTE: If you have enough AP, you can skip mechanics.

Ascendra

Gains a huge AP/DP buff every 20% of HP that basically makes her invincible. To remove it, use a Knockdown or Bound CC when she gains a White Aura AND position her between you and the bear so the bear rolls over her (the bear rolling over her is what removes the buff). 

Bennet

Find the real Bennet by bumping into her, so don’t use dodge skills that go through enemies. If you kill all the illusions they all reset to full health.

Brodie

Just DPS normally while avoiding the floating numbers (they explode).

Duran

Let him CC you then use the CC he used on him, then DPS him normally until he roars and gains a Red Aura. Adjust your stats so you have less chance to resist his CCs. 

Right-arm attack: Stiffen or Stun

Left-arm attack: Knockback

Uppercut attack: Float

Jump attack: Bound

Evergart

Won’t take damage while he has a Purple Aura. Use a Float CC when he gains a White Aura, then use a Down Smash CC to deal big damage. 

Fareed

Use a Float CC when he tries to heal at 80% HP to stop the heal. Use a super armor when he teleports. Otherwise DPS normally.

Gotha Rensa

At 80%, 50%, & 30% HP he charges an attack that can be interrupted by using a Float or Knockback CC on his back, and after CCing him you need to immediately dodge to avoid his roar. He will do this 5 times and at least 4 times you have to successfully land the Float or Knockback CC; if you don’t, he becomes invulnerable for a while and can one-shot you, and after that adds AOEs to his attacks (you’re really best off forfeiting the duel and restarting it at this point). After you complete the mechanic at 30% HP, make sure you avoid the red AOEs. 

Kardun

Avoid the red AOEs. At 75% & 25% HP he rages and gets bigger; stop attacking and wait for him to return to normal before resuming attacking. 

Have your pets put away -- taunt pets keep him enraged. Be careful with applying status effects like poison or bleeds, those also keep him enraged.

Kauha

Has 3 phases and is damaged by attacking specific summons. 

Phase 1: Focus the summon that takes less damage. 

Phase 2: Focus the 2 Elites that have a Shield or Axe and kill them at the same time. Then kill the summon that takes the least amount of damage. 

Phase 3: Same as Phase 2 but with 4 Elites instead of 2. It's more work to kill them at the same time, but must be done. Bring patience.

Kharoxia

Has 3 phases. 

Phase 1: DO NOT use Float or Knockback CCs more than 4 times – adjust your skill effects accordingly or simply use CC-less skills. 

Phase 2: She turtles behind her shield, which you break by using a Float or Knockback CC on her back. 

Phase 3: Avoid or mitigate the damage of the purple AOE. Use a Float or Knockback CC when she starts flashing red, which will debuff her greatly. DPS normally until she starts charging the purple AOE again. 

Kunga

Very Important: DPS HIM SLOWLY.

Every 15% of his hp when he charges a skill and gains a White Aura, use a Float CC on his back. If you don't you're dead dead dead. You'll know you did it correctly when he turns into your personal punching bag. 

Kyrill

Just DPS normally while avoiding green AOEs. Use your minimap to keep track of her when she teleports. Use a Stun CC when she goes to the middle and try to Stun-lock her there. 

Man of Steel

Just DPS normally but in close range until Man of Fortitude is summoned, then use any CC on Man of Fortitude and continue DPSing Man of Steel. 

Petroglyph Stalker

Just DPS normally while avoiding summons (they explode).

Raken

Just DPS normally. 

Syahzar

At 66% & 33% HP he gains a big AP/DP buff and begins using a charged skill – after he uses it, CC his back, and the CC needed is random. Successfully CC him 2 times to remove the AP/DP buff and continue the fight until he needs to be CCed again. You do not need to CC him to damage him, it just helps.

Solaria

Has a DP buff when your HP is over 60% and has an AP buff when your HP is under 60%. Keep your HP under 60% for an easy fight. Resist the muscle memory to heal yourself! 

Valkin

Just DPS normally while avoiding purple AOEs.

Van Riker

Use a Bound CC when he has a Black/Grey Aura, or he’ll summon twisters that kill you. At 5% HP CC him again when he roars or he’ll buff himself.

Yulho

Can randomly show up as a 5th bonus fight. Can also be fought by accepting a quest after you get a DUO Insignia.

CROW’S NEST QUESTLINE

What you’ll need before starting: 

1. A boat or a friend with a boat. You can buy a Bartali Sailboat for 10m silver from Proix in Velia, or complete the questline “[The Great Expedition] Oquilla’s Eye” to get an Epheria Cog. 

2. At least full Narchillan-level weapons, armor, & accessories, as there is combat to get your PRI Insignia. 

3. Health Potions, Alchemy Stone, and Exquisite Cron Meals. 

4. (VERY OPTIONAL) Church Buffs for Attack and Protection.

5. (ALSO OPTIONAL) Compass for navigating the ocean.
   

The questline itself is fairly easy to follow, so the following covers the “hard” parts. 

In your Quest Log (O), navigate to “Suggested” and to the category “[The Great Expedition] Crow’s Nest, Misty Island of Mystery”. Click the first quest, “[Crow’s Nest] A Strange Tale from the Great Ocean”, and accept it from the Black Spirit. 

Interact with the items in Tranan Underfoe’s house (same building as his forge): Cabinet, Container, Library, Pile of Parchment

Sail to Crow’s Nest, which is NORTH of Tinberra & Lerao Islands, which are NORTH EAST of Iliya Island. If you haven’t been to any of those Islands, you may want to look at a world map.

Apply the Title “Ravinia’s Perfect Guest”. The quest will not continue until you do. To apply a Title, press P then click for the Title menu. Type “Ravinia” into the search box to pull it up quickly. 

To take a portrait of yourself, press F4 to open the Beauty Shop. After, speak with the Black Spirit to get the portrait to give to Lavala. 

Teleport to the Pit of the Undying by speaking with Lavala. You cannot do this while in a party. 

Fight 5 Bosses: Rakan, Valkin, Fareed, Bennet, Evergart

Thank you for this. I enjoy the Pit of Undying. The battles I've experienced are generally quite enjoyable. Looks like they're removing the Crow Coin barter option with the update? That's a shame, but otherwise looking forward to the changes, and hope they don't trivialise the combat too much.

Thankfully, it didn't turn out to be the case regarding the remoal of Crow Coins, which is nice. 

And the combat whilst easier is still a good challenge in places. 

I got the chance to try it last night and I realized during the fight against Evergart that there was indeed a knockback mechanic requirement. So for you shais out there, kick them first (F) then use Tumble Wumble (Shift + Z) but of course you have to time it during his downsmash move. Make sure you equip Tumble Wumble! I don't think it's possible without it because Shai does not have the necessary CC otherwise. I'll be doing this every day when I can, it's not bad money and the PEN  insignia is nice.

Had tried 4-5 times with different skills to knock him down but to no avail.

I just let him kill me everytime since the damage I was doing was minimal. Twice the time ran out..lol :/

I was not using the Tumble Wumble enhancement at all, switched to it and never going back to Twirl-Boom ever again! Went back in killed him within a minute (Says alot for me qq)
