considering the all new system, yes, they should be made into a playstyle choice rather than a power up that cab be potentially lost.

When it takes 6 weeks to get a crystal back that broke, or you have to spend an entire day to run the quest line on other crystals, the "Cost" is not the issue, the time neccessary is. I actually couldn't give 2 bleeps about the crystal prices.
PA is really good at finding alternate uses for over stocked items, look at black magic crystals, they were sitting at 1m silver for about 8 months now that magical shards are needed they are up at least 400% in price. PA can find other ways to make use of crystals if it becomes a huge problem.
People are unwilling to try new content when they can't put their best gear on for fear of losing a weeks worth of grinding with 1 mistake, and a lot of these spots you can't even attempt without the best crystals equipped.
Crystal breakage was a minor issue when the best crystals in the game were blue ones that cost 50k-200k silver back when our silver per hour was 1m. Yeah the silver per hour right now is up massive, but you can break a 5 billion crystal, even at a lucky rate of 1 billion silver per hour that is 5 hours of grinding to get back 1 crystal, assuming you can find someone to list it to you, more likely it will cost you 8 billion silver because you have to buy the little parts.
If a spot is balanced around crystal drops, then they can balance a spot for crystal breakage.
What's worse is that you don't even need to make a mistake to break crystals. That's the real problem.
But to me, anyway, crystal breakage threatens both pve and owpvp now. Any kind of permanent penalty have this effect on a game with costly equipment : jail, debuff would do a better job.
One random idea, for what it's worth : if you die from mobs twice (thrice?) in a 1-hour span of time, you get a pve debuff against these mobs for an hour (your character now "fears" them and feels weak against them). No other penalty except that.

We're up to 279 upvotes for removing crystal breakage ( I hear Console players already get this?) and 15 lifeskillers who say no. Is there a number threshold to reach before PA's PR moderators will chime in or is it a "hope it catches their eye while they surf the forums" type thing?

Make crystals more expensive but ensure they do not break on death. It makes players avoid trying new spots to farm and just stagnates current farming spots.
