Hot Take: BDO's combat is all Flourish and Pomp. ...in other words for the vocabulalarily-deprived, it's "all Rizz, no Bank".
It looks flashy, it seems crisp especially for the privileged classes who actually get to mix in cancels, but there is no depth to it and no reason to try and get the most out of it because 99.9% of what it's being used in does not pose a real threat to the player because the AI is dumber and less varied than a bag of hammers.
....And during that 0.1% of the time it's employed against other players who do pose a threat, that threat primarily exists due to bad Net Coding like an old copy of Tekken or Darksouls

I'd like them to make this game truly great. I'd like to see reviews that are actually positive. It just hurts to see a game like this that has so much potential treated like garbage by developers who have the ability to make it the greatest game of all time.
Larian Studios could.

I just read an article on Game Rant today on games' character creators, and of course BDO was mentioned. This game has one of the best character creators ever. But that's where the goodness ends. The article describes this game as "uninspired", and I totally agree.
This game comes up with very few inspired things these days. All the great content is from before 2020. Somethings were improved, like lifeskill loot, but that's it. Lifeskill systems were trashed, no real new combat features have been added. Just new grinding circles, and new end-game-gear-mountains to climb. The story is just as bad as ever, amazing lore is left undeveloped, characters are losing their uniqueness, their voices are muted half the time, and all the developers can think of doing is simplifying and steamlining. All they can do is remove things. All they can do is solve problems for some people that end up making new problems for others. All they can do is go with the easy, lazy solutions.
How can that help this game?
Dear PA: please, since you have no originality left, and all you can offer is copy-paste, or cut and delete solutions, please, please, please, add some inspired developers to your team. Hire people who are energized and care about the importance of every tiny detail in a living world. Hire people who can write stories. Hire people who love the open world of this game. Hire people who love this gme as much as we, the players, do. This game could become "The Most Improved" game of the year. I don't know how this game won last year. On what criteria was that on based on? This game is chronically ill, and all you can do is practice blood-letting. Don't let this game die, I beg of you. Hire the people you need to save it. Thousands of people will thank you. I certainly will.
May you be prosperous in this upcoming year.
Straight up facts my guy. I've been so reluctant to even drop a video on the topic because it feels just so hopeless. Our voice as a community will never be heard and it literally sucks.

Because they actually wanted to make a game and not a store front disguised as a game?
Do they have that ability? After magnus and loml? rofl! I mean, they might but it's clear that making the greatest game of all time is severely down their priority list.

Fact.
Other than the class control close to a fighting game with key combination (which is awesome) and the overall graphic and visual immersion, any others part of the game is saddly extremly poorly designed. (after what, 6+ years the pve still only is about running in circle bashing mob until you get bored and change game)
Even the character creator isn't this incredible with gender lock + you are limited with the possible change from the base body. Like i would never be able to have plum with a guardian body. Only to illustrate the limitation.
Blade and Soul character creator is vastly superior, despite sure less details for the face.

I dunno, man. I was never into BDO 'like that.' Everything is as it should be. It'd be nice if they could get people into being able to do pvp though. Like... FIX PVP. If they are gonna have arsha anon, they should have gearcap arshas, and no season ain't enough. That's for oW but, also different types of set pvp.
Then they need more group content in general. Game needs to be less about big loot and more about just living. Some people are grinding hard still, but most are just hanging out. It is kinda amazing how I can make more money @ arsha gahaz than I can gathering tho lool.
It's also amazing there are still bottle necks in any type of crafting.
I enjoyed the char creator, and it's pretty sad when they release chars with one voice haha, but that wasn't why I ended up putting hours into this game. But I am not target audience. I'm not whaling, and I come and go.

Well, that's why more pvp is necessary. Mobs are just a resource in this game. They don't have like groups of mobs that work in unison and heal each other, buff each other, get the healer etc...
And yea that's why I don't have any DP lol.

Well neither is BDO in the vast majority of its content. Atleast in BG3, there's significant incentives to getting 4 mates together in the same instance and meme'ing your way through the first half of the first chapter. (desptie the plethora of multiplay bugs that happen along the way) ...BDO meanwhile only has a couple grindspots where more than one person is even a good idea. And the LotML questline (or any other questlines) are significantly hindered and slowed down if you try to do them in a party at all. We *used* to have some partially instanced activities in BDO we could queue up for where overall the rewards were kinda Okay. But the #1 problem their Dev team has is their Myopic focus exclusively on the most Meta bleeding edge solo grinds pandered towards whales/wallet-warriors or RNG carried basement kings. This results in any multiplayer focused content instantly being rendered Obsolete by the time the next quarter's new grinds are released

last time i check in baldur gate 3 you can chose to be alone with only npc and never interact with other players
