Hey it's me again, yeah I know I know i'm sorry I don't want to beat the dead horse here but just seeing all the similar topics on the forum just shows how much we're hurt by the game in its current state and its almost a bittersweet feeling, because we all know just how good this game CAN be but at the same time it almost feels that'll never happen. Anywho without further ado, lets dive into it. **Also there will be no TLDR for this post sorry, so if u dont want to read through it all, which I can understand, theres no worries.**

Black Desert Online: A Game That Falls Short of Fun

Black Desert Online, despite its visually stunning graphics and vast open world, has unfortunately failed to deliver an enjoyable gaming experience for many players. One of the main reasons behind this is the game's heavy emphasis on grinding. Upon reaching 61, in order to progress and level up your gear score players are required to spend countless hours engaging in repetitive tasks, such as killing mobs or gathering resources. This monotonous gameplay loop can quickly become tiresome and drain the fun out of the game.

The reward system in BDO is janky and many players find it unsatisfying due to several reasons. Firstly, the rewards often feel lackluster and not worth the effort put into achieving them. Whether it's completing a difficult quest or participating in a time-consuming event, the rewards often fall short of expectations. This can be frustrating for players who invest a significant amount of time and effort into the game. Another aspect that contributes to the distasteful reward system is the lack of variety. Players crave diversity in rewards to keep them engaged and motivated. However, Mr.J often offers repetitive and predictable rewards, which can quickly become monotonous. This lack of variety can lead to a sense of boredom and disinterest among players, as they feel there is little incentive to continue playing. Additionally, the distribution of rewards in Black Desert Online can be quite imbalanced(aka Gamba, gambling system). Some players may find themselves receiving abundant rewards, while others struggle to obtain even the most basic ones.(How many times have you failed that TET/PEN attempt? and your friend or guildmate is just one tapping everything). This creates a sense of unfairness and inequality within the game, which can be demoralizing for those who are not as fortunate. A more balanced reward system would ensure that all players have a fair chance at obtaining desirable rewards, creating a more satisfying and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Continually, Black Desert Online has complex and overwhelming mechanics, it offers a wide range of features, from intricate character customization to detailed crafting systems, and while this level of depth may appeal to some players, it can also be a major turn-off for those who prefer a more straightforward and accessible gaming experience. The steep learning curve and the need to constantly refer to guides and tutorials can be frustrating and deter players from fully immersing themselves in the game. And I say this as someone who recently met an in-game player who picked up the game 3 days ago, and upon asking her for feedback; her exact words were: "There's SO MUCH". Which is self-explanatory because there is indeed alot to take-in especially if you are just coming into the game.

To add, the game's PvP (Player versus Player) system has been a source of frustration for many players. Black Desert Online heavily promotes PvP encounters, but the balance between classes and the overall fairness of the system has been a point of contention. Some classes may have significant advantages over others, leading to an unbalanced and unfair playing field. This can result in a lack of enjoyment for players who feel disadvantaged or overwhelmed by the PvP aspect of the game.

Lastly, the lack of thrilling party play is a key contributor to BDO's stagnancy and lack of enjoyment. Meaningful group content would provide a refreshing change of pace for players who may have exhausted the solo gameplay options. While solo activities can be enjoyable, there is a certain thrill that comes with tackling difficult challenges as a team. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that arises from successfully overcoming obstacles with a group of friends is unparalleled. The game would cater to a wider range of playstyles and preferences, ensuring that every player can find something that suits their interests if they did this.

Overall, while Black Desert Online may have its merits, it falls short in terms of providing a consistently fun and engaging gaming experience for a wide range of players.

This concludes my topic for today yall, if u made it here i appreciate u and if there's something I missed or u would like to add: as always; feel free to do so. Makes me very sad reading threads like this. A friend and I started during summer season and we love the game. Sure, maybe because we were given a giant helping hand at the start, but it encouraged us to learn how to do things on our own without being scared as new players once we graduated.

I may just be ignorant since I only started during the summer season, but I think the game is ok. A bit too p2w. I wish there was actual group grind that isn't Tunkuta or Gyfin. Or better guild PVE content. Friend and I can't do much together.. not even sell each other stuff we don't need but the other one does.

Now, while I am a PVE and Lifeskilling peasant, I am still aware of the state of PVP. I do want PVP to be fixed, since it makes this game very versatile. I hope the devs listen to you veteran players because if I like the game now, I bet it will love it more in the future.

I get sad in the same way, trust me. "This is how u get a long time player to quit", "scholar = one less player now" and so forth, my heart breaks a little more each time I read them. I love this game which is why I still log in everyday, but like u said this game can be so much better than what it currently is if we could just get PA to listen to us. Still props to u and ur friend for discovering and joining the BDO community though.

Best of luck to u in ur future endeavours mate

Their capricious and inconsistent banning of people who pvp within the mechanics of the game has turned me against them.  I've asked several times whether I can report someone who stalks me across channels to grief me, and they said "No.  Pvp is part of the game!"  Fair enough. I dealt with the problem in my own way.  However, they banned players for doing the exact same thing to streamers.  Do I have to become a streamer to get equal protection?

while i understand where ur coming from, and im sorry that had to happen to u but funnily enough the answer is yes. BDO is a brand, and streamers/content creators by extension are a representation of that brand, so when a player harasses or makes them look bad thats against the rules. Pearl Abyss wags their finger at such actions; and say "no, no, no, u cant make us look bad" here's a ban. Meanwhile if ur just a number in the system u wont be treated the same. 'Special people get special treatment', sad but thats the reality of life.

Wishing u success in the upcoming new year

Cheers

I agree with most of the senimetns in this post, but I definitely do not want the grame to be simplified for the sake of new players.  I started before the seasons even began, and I had to immerse myself into this game, which rally helped because I could deal with the grind.  Now that they're killing the immersion to make it easy for new players...... I am losing reasons to play.  This game has to be huge in order to appeal to all walks of life.  This game should be a living world.  They need to hire more devs to handle and keep alive this world, instead of eliminating things that some players say is meaningless, but means the world to the rest of us.

You don't improve art by eliminating detail.  You don't improve health by bleeding things out.  By building upon the core and imporving what is there, and not continuously remake and mutate the heck out of what we players have spent years getting to know, will you keep players.  New players can get a handle on things.  I did, and I'm not brilliant.

Stop removing things, PA.  Improve them, by all means, but stop rmoveing things.  Stop simplifying things.

Thanks.  If the brand matters, then they should apply the rules consistently.

They've made it abundantly clear that they prefer to chase new customers at the expense of veteran players.  The pvp changes, the hyper simplification, the rewards like free t9s and tet blackstars, the higher enhancement rates for new accounts, etc etc.   Chasing new customers at the expense of current customers is nearly ALWAYS a doomed strategy.

Why BDO is not an enjoyable MMO?

Answer is always the same:

1. Forced, toxic unwanted open pvp.
2. No progress (no progressive enchantment system, you can lose everything you've achieved over the years).
3. No free fast travel system to any node.

They practically give away soft cap to new players, and what should such a player do next? Because then he has a wall that he can't overcome without a few dozen thousand dollars (o epic luck with eg hammers).

On the other hand, years pass and this game is the same as it was years ago. Long ago boss pen was beyond my reach, Jetina was added and now I have a boss pen (and even turned it into a fallen one), now I have 3x black star tet but a black star pen is beyond my reach. I won't even mention accessories because I've had my 6 tet tungrads (I bought all of them) for 2 years and there's absolutely no option/possibility of replacing them with something better.
