A Compromise on Dyes - Merv's Palette Questline?

I know this might be a bit far-fetched, but I'm just trying to think of a better way to handle dyes in this game. Most people I've spoken to about this feel that dyes just aren't accessible enough, and Merv's Palette being tied to value packs just feels... icky.

I've been loving the increase of grindable costumes and legendary items available in-game, this is an incredibly healthy step in the right direction. This then lead to an interesting idea in regards to dyes:

Maybe PA could consider a series of legendary quests to unlock a small part of Merv's Palette within each corresponding region? (Olvian Dye would be an Olvia questline, Velian Dye in Velia, etc...)

Of course the quest wouldn't unlock the entirety of the palette, maybe just a subset of core colors, while the rest of the subtler tints and shades would remain unlockable through the value pack. Something like this would go a long way towards increasing cosmetic variety in the game and would offer non-subscription players at least something to dip their toes into, of course only obtainable behind a huge wall of grind and time investment.

It would be a bit of work to implement so... Maybe not something PA would care to do, even if they were okay with making dyes available outside of the cash shop. But what do you guys think? :)

Dyes should be craft with Alchemy.

There are dozens of completely/Mostly zero function materials that can be used to make colour pigments.

For making them valuable and kinda annoying to get them simply add Rough Opulent Crystal and Tenacious Origin of Life at the main rare material.
The density of the colour need to be RNG.
Which makes 1 / 12∞ Chance to have the density of colour that we want.
For black dye it would be interesting to have a gradient palette of pure white to black to respect the whole idea.
It lacks of gray colour anyway.

For the type of dye (Olvia, Velia ect ..) a simple 5 million value item *Olvia Dye Stain, Velia Dye Stain ect..* which can be purchased from furniture sellers in each city concerned.

Considering the possible complexity of the craft I still suggest 3 to 5 dye (RNG) per craft.

With the current price of Dye (22.4m) It is not too abused, and it would make a good side-profit for the alchemy which is currently pitiful.

I completely agree with this, I think craftable dyes, or at least fully in-game obtainable dyes are always preferred in every MMO. My above suggestion is more of a compromise to this problem, however, since I highly doubt PA are willing to completely remove one of the main selling points for value packs.

But instead of a questline, perhaps they might consider making at least part if the Olvian palette craftable through alchemy? That would also be a lovely alternative imo, probably more preferrable to most players than a long questline.

dye's need to be reimagined, and I also believe that there should be boss specific dyes attainable via alchemic crafting with boss drops.

example, garmoth scale + ??? + ??? = special dye

Love this idea!

Some special dyes craftable with boss drops would be an excellent start :)
